The dolls outfits not being reminiscent of anything is actually kind of a point of the line Which is why the Disney princess ultimate celebration dolls are never really based off of anything in the movies are based off of designs that the designers want to create it’s basically a celebration of the design process of designers
Right?! Also, I think it's cool that the designs still seem to fit the princesses. I know some feel differently, but I'm happy to see something other than mermaid tail Ariel or ball gown Ariel. Although lovely, we have several of these.
I really like Pocahontas! Her pretty dress looks like a cross between something she might wear as a Native American and something she would have worn when she moved to England.
@@aracelibobelli I think the reason that everyone’s upset about the area is because I think they were hoping again that eventually that this time around we would’ve got an Ariel in that very sparkly dress that we saw in when she got transformed into a human and it was right before her wedding personally I had loads of doubts that I was gonna happen because Disney seems to really hate that dress for some reason which is why if you want your Ariel doll to have a dress and go on Etsy shop because I’ve seen a few listings for address similar to that so if you’d like that for your ariel doll There you go
I really don't understand why people don't like this year's designer Ariel....She's the only LE doll I bought this year lol. She looks like a sea goddess from like a 1940's fantasy film. But I guess that's just my vibe. I do agree that the Beauty and the Beast set was the top release this year though. Beautiful, if out of my budget
quality wise… when you compare Ariel to the other dolls… the materials they used and the lack of embroidery really cheapens the doll. Also the outfit was badly designed, the designer’s story for her inspiration was lacking. All she said was she grew up in the carribean
I think people would like it if it’s just a doll not from a movie, but the dress wasn’t even similar to any dress she wore in the movie at all, so it’s not that well received, but personally, I really like it, the only think I don’t like is her head piece

Pocahontas is gorgeous. She blew me away when I saw her in real life in the Disney store. I love that series. The dolls are great, so much better than the same old designs.
For me, something about the 17 inch limited edition dolls just hit different. The larger size allows for more details without it being too overwhelming or too much fabric on such a small body. However, I agree they are hard to store since they take up so much space. Also, I agree with your point that sometime the LE dolls have too much going on. Personally, Pink and Blue Aurora are the best example to show how covering a doll in embroidery, gems, and lots of fabric just looks messy. I've really liked that lately these designs are more toned down
I really wish they stopped with the 16 inches dolls, especially for under represented characters. I want Kida so bad but man the price! I hope they make some more of her 🥺

My mum got me her for Christmas I thought she was going to be you know a size of a Barbie doll she is huge she's so beautiful and she never came out of box because I don't like taking my collected dolls out of boxes yes she is very expensive but she's worth every penny in my opinion I highly recommend getting her

Like, Tangled implies that Rapunzel sews her own clothes, and her paintings include girls who look like her wearing all kinds of different colors and embellishments, which suggests that designed those dresses too - at least in her own imagination. For basically years after seeing Tangled for the first time, I had a subroutine running continuously in the back of my brain wondering what Rapunzel's other dresses would look like. Any time I have an idea for a new DnD character, there's a part of my brain that blurts out NOW SHE NEEDS AN ENTIRE WARDROBE. So although I sometimes quibble with the specific design decisions (like I don't like Alice's black bodice *with* the kind of peplum flap at the top of her skirt), I actually get a crazy thrill out of just getting to see NEW OUTFITS on these limited edition designer dolls. It just happens to be my personal Jam lol.
I have the limited edition Ariel doll, it is the fist one I have ever been able to purchase. I always miss out on them so I was determined to get one this time around. I think she is absolutely stunning in person, definitely way prettier than the picture.
Possible reasoning for Ariel’s Greco-Roman headpiece: Ariel is the daughter of Triton, who is the son of Poseidon, god of the sea. Which actually makes her Hercules’ cousin.
An interesting thing about Hocus Pocus is that the lead writer on it was also the creator of the Rose Petal Place dolls. When you look at Nastina, the spider antagonist from Rose Petal and you look at Wiinfred’s face make up, there is an interesting similarity. Also, that same creator was also involved with the Child’s Play (Chucky) movies.
Ariel probably has the Greek inspiration because Mermaids are from Greek mythology, and the original illustrations fromt he book had a lot of Greek influence.
Honestly? My dream Disney doll is any Rapunzel doll with a face sculpt that actually looks movie accurate because she’s my favorite princess but I don’t have a doll of her because her face just always looks off to me
I agreed with you on this year's Ariel but I saw mmdisney200's video on her and she grew on me pretty quickly, especially after he removed some of the outfit.
I agree with the Disney dolls going down in quality. I have collected them for a while and I have a rather large collection, but the price keeps going up while the quality goes down (most of the time). When I saw that Rainbow High had more embroidery on 30 dollar dolls than they did on 140 dollar dolls, I was blown away. This year I only bought Alice I like her dress with the references to the artist's concept art. I do wish they'd used Tenniel's illustrations, but this is Disney, so it makes sense. So she was a must have, especially since I collect all kinds of Alice stuff. At least I'm saving money. The release was also a disaster! If you are going to shut down the stores, you should have your online store working properly.
The Alice doll's outfit kind of looks like Aurora's Briar Rose outfit. I actually thought it was her from your thumbnail. I love her outfit and her overall look, but you're right that it's not really Alice. Perhaps if they changed the colors to match her original outfit.
My favorite dolls were Esmeralda and the Atlantean Princess Kida. I usually don't see dolls of them and they were both really well done so they were my favorites.
The Kida doll is awesome. For me Atlantis has and will always be one of my most favorite and nostalgic Disney movies. I just love Kida and the doll of her so much💙
But matpat number 10 the new Ariel doll is not actually meant to resemble I think dress is actually just taking it and giving it creative commons style, basically similar to how the Disney style series released by hasbro took the themes of the dolls but changed them up into a more contemporary theme
The only one I have from this year is WDW 50th Cinderella who I really love I think she's beautiful but then again I enjoyed the classy and simple style of her 🥰 I also liked the Beauty and the Beast dolls and Kida but couldn't really afford the Beauty and the Beast set and am not a big enough fan of Atlantis to invest in a Kida doll, I thought Esmerelda was pretty too though the others I didn't love sm 😅 I'm holding out for Ultimate Princess Celebration Snow White or Aurora as they're my faves and I hope they're good 🤞

For me, kida is the best. I desire it with all my heart, but it is expensive for me. I hope that next year, kida will be available on the regular line... Same as Esmeralda, Whendy, Meg and Thinker Bell. Maybe with Jane of tarzan
The Pocahontas one looks SO insensitive like, everything in that outfit is treated like it has no meaning, the fringes, the feathers and it's also so ugly. The Ariel one has beautiful colours but yeah something about it is off. Alice and Kida for me are up there

She converted to Christianity and changed her name to Rebbeca. She went to England to meet King James as a part of promoting the colonies She met John Smith again and blasted him for his abuses of her tribe. When she went home she got sick on the ship and died It's been rumored she was murdered. I don't think that Disney would make a Pocahontas doll wearing an Elizabethan costume calling her Pocahontas as Lady Johh Rolph. They would have to tell the truly tragic story behind the box to kids about the real Pocahontas and this would Disallusion both children and unacknowledged adult doll collectors to the Disney cartoon
The Kida dolls outfit looks really nice but her face is kinda boring to me. Like I get that dolls are usually pretty neutral faced but her kinda looks off. Maybe it's her bang jetting into her face like a dagger that's off-putting. Esmeralda really does look amazing though and I agree that her dress would look better shorter. They did a really good job with her

I wish this year we'll get an L.E. Megara doll and an Aladdin&Jasmine set with a new facesculpt for them, especially Jasmine, because I really dislike her old facesculpt but the new one is very nice.
I'm really hoping that the Sanderson sisters come back next Halloween as a cheaper doll set... I really wanted Sarah at first but there's honestly no way those dolls are worth that price. =/
I am so disappointed in the Alice doll because she has so much potential for a collectors doll and she is just such a great character and I really hope they try again with one soon
For the Ariel doll, I actually like the base dress. Her princess dress in the movie is pink and this dress fading to blue could represent her dipping into the ocean? But with the way it lays, it kinda just makes me think of a shell and I find it pretty. The accessories on the other hand...are terrible. Is she Thor with those head wings? lol Jasmine has potential, but some of it is definitely off. Pocahontas' collar is definitely the worst part of that doll. It wouldn't be bad if only the collar didn't exist. They definitely should've done more with the anniversary Cinderella. I agree with your castle dress idea. I love Alice's doll, but the top is so wrong. It gives peasant Aurora vibes. I love Esmeralda's details on the bottom but I have a vintage doll of her and the face on her was way better than this new one. KIDA IS PERFECT AND BELLE IS STUNNING! I've never been a fan of Beast dolls personally, but that's a nice outfit for him. I would literally wear Belle's dress!
I was talking to my mom about the Ariel doll today and I think the design element sort of leading the rest of the look is the pearls. Her outfit reminds me of a flapper, even though the long layer of tulle kinda throws you off of that. Because long strings of pearls were a popular accessory with that style of fashion, I think that's why they took it in that direction. Her hair accessory also looks like the feathery headpieces flappers would wear. Because the outfit is being lead by the pearls, I think its color is supposed to be similar to a clam shell. The most colorful clams seem to be the same peachy shade of pink as her dress. All this to say, while I see where the dress's design is coming from and find it clever in that respect, it doesn't look good on Ariel. It would have been much better to make it sea foam green like her tail or purple like the clam shells she actually wears in her movie. The dress itself is gorgeous. The doll is also gorgeous. But they just don't fit together.
I wish for a regular Kida doll in the more barbie size. I would also like some more Disney Villain dolls, like Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame! :)
I don't like the big 17inch dolls, like I genuinely cannot connect with dolls larger than 1/6 scale if that makes sense? I like little things. Even if it's from a brand I absolutely love, no can do! I tried, I owned Gooliope for a while (Monster High) but in the end I sold her as I just didn't gel with her :/
I think you should rank some of the other Limited Edition or Signature Disney dolls. My favorite this year is Esmerelda but I do love seeing Atlantis and Hocus Pocus represention even though they are not my favorites.
Big Beauty and the Beast fan [saw it 15x in the cinema on first release] a big beef with me is most modern Beast Dolls, art and stuff make him look kind of dopey/cute-ish, early stuff when the movie was first out made him look more sullen/stern [So you'd go into the movie not knowing, he's supposed to be a Beast after all] Concept Art/rough cut has been a extra on the DVD releases and BluRay [One I'm hoping for but will prob never see the light of day is the uncut version of the wolf attack scene, originally a lot more full on and brutal]
I think the Beauty and the Beast is the top design doll set. I wish I had the money to get it. Too expensive for me, I won’t be able to get it.... From all of this I only got the Kida doll, she is gorgeous... all other I do not care to have. Ariel’s face doesn’t look like Ariel, the witches look cartoons, Pocahontas would never wear that outfit, jasmine’s outfit should have been more like the red outfit in the movie. I like Alice, the only thing I don’t like is the black shirt top.
I found a OMG Swimsuits coral waves at Meijer she was the only one and she had no articulation I got her anyway and gave her to my niece. I do have omg present surprise miss glam 2 pack of omg remix of rocker Boi and punk grrrl and 2 pack of series 3 of chillax and roller chick there is a series 3 2 pack of class prez and da boss but I already got class prez from ross. Plus a series 2 hairgoals lol doll.
Worst year ever for Disney Limited Edition dolls... I don't love any of them, I just liked Jasmine and maybe Esmeralda, but more for the character than for the quality of the doll. And I absolutely HATE the Beauty and the Beast set. For me it's the worst limited edition doll set ever or even the worst limited edition dolls ever released (if we considered them separately).
Screw Disney (basically capitalism) which stopped produce new plain 18 € priced Esmeralda and Meg dolls on Disney store. We will see those two heroines after 10 years again (if we are still here 😂😢)

Like you buy only if you really love Cruella, Aurora, Aladdin, Snow etc - you don't have to 'store & catch' all of them. + I agree, they should make them aviliable more outside of US/UK Poca is my fave from the list & idk why people hate her. I like Beast, but I can't stand new Belle - they should've used the Winter face mold. In overall, Kida is definetly the best & most detailed single doll in past 3 years, however Im not into Atlantis so won't buy her.
I hope they'll do more classic normal sized and priced disney dolls next year with underrated characters such as Kida ,Jane or Giselle and more of Megara and Esmeralda. I'm not a masive fan of the big expensive limited edition ones... Too many limited edition dolls and too few normal ones...😭😭😭

To me its other way round. Belle & Poca are my faves... I quite like Poca, but Belles head sculpt & wrongly sewn gown were major turn off for me

For me, kida is the best. I desire it with all my heart, but it is expensive for me. I hope that next year, kida will be available on the regular line... Same as Esmeralda, Whendy, Meg and Thinker Bell. Maybe with Jane of tarzan

The Pocahontas one looks SO insensitive like, everything in that outfit is treated like it has no meaning, the fringes, the feathers and it's also so ugly. The Ariel one has beautiful colours but yeah something about it is off. Alice and Kida for me are up there

Esmeralda is always my favorite Disney girl - Hunchback was the first movie I saw in theaters as a kid when it was released. So she's my fave :)

the Real Pocahontas was a tragic figure. She met john smith when she was a little and he was 27. Her father did not try to kill him. that was a myth. She was kidnapped by the colonist to stop the tribes from declaring war against the colonist. She was raped by several colonists. She had a child. In her tribe that was unforgivable. She stayed in Jamestown Later a British businessman name john Rolf wanted to know her father's secret of curing tobacco. which was a sacred practice. So he used her by marrying her to get the secret. She converted to Christianity and changed her name to Rebbeca. She went to England to meet King James as a part of promoting the colonies She met John Smith again and blasted him for his abuses of her tribe. When she went home she got sick on the ship and died It's been rumored she was murdered. I don't think that Disney would make a Pocahontas doll wearing an Elizabethan costume calling her Pocahontas as Lady Johh Rolph. They would have to tell the truly tragic story behind the box to kids about the real Pocahontas and this would Disallusion both children and unacknowledged adult doll collectors to the Disney cartoon
The Kida dolls outfit looks really nice but her face is kinda boring to me. Like I get that dolls are usually pretty neutral faced but her kinda looks off. Maybe it's her bang jetting into her face like a dagger that's off-putting.
Esmeralda really does look amazing though and I agree that her dress would look better shorter. They did a really good job with her

I wish this year we'll get an L.E. Megara doll and an Aladdin&Jasmine set with a new facesculpt for them, especially Jasmine, because I really dislike her old facesculpt but the new one is very nice.
I'm really hoping that the Sanderson sisters come back next Halloween as a cheaper doll set... I really wanted Sarah at first but there's honestly no way those dolls are worth that price. =/

For the Ariel doll, I actually like the base dress. Her princess dress in the movie is pink and this dress fading to blue could represent her dipping into the ocean? But with the way it lays, it kinda just makes me think of a shell and I find it pretty. The accessories on the other hand...are terrible. Is she Thor with those head wings? lol Jasmine has potential, but some of it is definitely off. Pocahontas' collar is definitely the worst part of that doll. It wouldn't be bad if only the collar didn't exist. They definitely should've done more with the anniversary Cinderella. I agree with your castle dress idea. I love Alice's doll, but the top is so wrong. It gives peasant Aurora vibes. I love Esmeralda's details on the bottom but I have a vintage doll of her and the face on her was way better than this new one. KIDA IS PERFECT AND BELLE IS STUNNING! I've never been a fan of Beast dolls personally, but that's a nice outfit for him. I would literally wear Belle's dress!

I was talking to my mom about the Ariel doll today and I think the design element sort of leading the rest of the look is the pearls. Her outfit reminds me of a flapper, even though the long layer of tulle kinda throws you off of that. Because long strings of pearls were a popular accessory with that style of fashion, I think that's why they took it in that direction. Her hair accessory also looks like the feathery headpieces flappers would wear. Because the outfit is being lead by the pearls, I think its color is supposed to be similar to a clam shell. The most colorful clams seem to be the same peachy shade of pink as her dress.
All this to say, while I see where the dress's design is coming from and find it clever in that respect, it doesn't look good on Ariel. It would have been much better to make it sea foam green like her tail or purple like the clam shells she actually wears in her movie. The dress itself is gorgeous. The doll is also gorgeous. But they just don't fit together.
I love the Beauty and the Beast, I can't afford them either. 😎

I agree with your whole list. I have mixed feelings about the bigger dolls. I love the detail, but they don't fit with my 1/6 scale props and scenes.

I don't like the big 17inch dolls, like I genuinely cannot connect with dolls larger than 1/6 scale if that makes sense? I like little things. Even if it's from a brand I absolutely love, no can do!

I think you should rank some of the other Limited Edition or Signature Disney dolls. My favorite this year is Esmerelda but I do love seeing Atlantis and Hocus Pocus represention even though they are not my favorites.
Big Beauty and the Beast fan [saw it 15x in the cinema on first release] a big beef with me is most modern Beast Dolls, art and stuff make him look kind of dopey/cute-ish, early stuff when the movie was first out made him look more sullen/stern [So you'd go into the movie not knowing, he's supposed to be a Beast after all] Concept Art/rough cut has been a extra on the DVD releases and BluRay [One I'm hoping for but will prob never see the light of day is the uncut version of the wolf attack scene, originally a lot more full on and brutal]
Just find Disney just puts out too much quantity, not enough quality

I think the Beauty and the Beast is the top design doll set. I wish I had the money to get it. Too expensive for me, I won’t be able to get it.... From all of this I only got the Kida doll, she is gorgeous... all other I do not care to have. Ariel’s face doesn’t look like Ariel, the witches look cartoons, Pocahontas would never wear that outfit, jasmine’s outfit should have been more like the red outfit in the movie. I like Alice, the only thing I don’t like is the black shirt top.

I found a OMG Swimsuits coral waves at Meijer she was the only one and she had no articulation I got her anyway and gave her to my niece. I do have omg present surprise miss glam 2 pack of omg remix of rocker Boi and punk grrrl and 2 pack of series 3 of chillax and roller chick there is a series 3 2 pack of class prez and da boss but I already got class prez from ross. Plus a series 2 hairgoals lol doll.
Worst year ever for Disney Limited Edition dolls... I don't love any of them, I just liked Jasmine and maybe Esmeralda, but more for the character than for the quality of the doll.
And I absolutely HATE the Beauty and the Beast set. For me it's the worst limited edition doll set ever or even the worst limited edition dolls ever released (if we considered them separately).
Screw Disney (basically capitalism) which stopped produce new plain 18 € priced Esmeralda and Meg dolls on Disney store. We will see those two heroines after 10 years again (if we are still here 😂😢)

Aren't 17 inch editions aimed only at biggest fans of francshise? Like you buy only if you really love Cruella, Aurora, Aladdin, Snow etc - you don't have to 'store & catch' all of them.

Poca is my fave from the list & idk why people hate her. I like Beast, but I can't stand new Belle - they should've used the Winter face mold.
In overall, Kida is definetly the best & most detailed single doll in past 3 years, however Im not into Atlantis so won't buy her.

I hope they'll do more classic normal sized and priced disney dolls next year with underrated characters such as Kida ,Jane or Giselle and more of Megara and Esmeralda. I'm not a masive fan of the big expensive limited edition ones...
