When's the last time AEW took an unnecessary potshot at WWE though? The Elite did it a lot in the Being the Elite series, but I think it died down considerably once AEW became a thing. Funnily enough, the most WWE bashing I remember came from Cody and CM Punk.

AEW is just disappointing. They have no direction and no view of long-term success. They saw what made WCW succeed and what made it fail and decided to do the exact opposite of both. It is an interesting experiment but is doomed to fail regardless. Just look at it, Bischoff is not right about much, but he was right when he said that Khan ascribes to Meltzer!s view of pro wrestling. Which is a horrible idea when you already have no clue how to run a wrestling promotion so Khan's idea is to run it exactly how a guy who has never run a wrestling promotion before would run it. He's just letting his EVPs do what they want, and there's a reason they succeeded under Cody Rhodes because Tony Khan wasn't leading, and Cody Rhodes had a vision. He only left when the other EVPs started to push their boneheaded ideas of "an indie with money." There are so many reasons why and indie with money wouldn't work, and let's start with the most obvious one. Indies can't expand, it's inherent in the business structure of an indie that they stay exactly where they are because they never make enough money to expand beyond where they are as they are unable to sign consistently appearing talent and so they can't get exclusivity which is ultimately what's important. Every company needs to have these four things in the most general terms, production, matches, talent, and storylines. TNA is missing the production, AEW is missing the storylines, and WWE was missing the matches and that's why WWE will never be knocked off because they have built themselves to a place where they will survive without one of those for a while until competition comes along and then they will build one of those pillars back up.
While I do want to see those matches that Adam Copeland threw out there, would he have just a one-off match on TV or have a storyline to build to that match on TV/PLE? While it's great to have all of these dream matches, it may only go so far with little to no build. While this section of the video is about tribalism, there's a reason why storylines matter and WWE has proved that these last couple of years. Christian Cage had a great storyline going and probably was one of the most memorable in AEW's history so far. CM Punk had some great feuds in AEW and had memorable moments.
AEW isn't episodic television pro wrestling like WWE is. AEW is just an exhibition showcase of random pro wrestling matches. Casual viewers don't care therefore the reason AEW is having trouble with sales.
AEW takes shots at WWE every single show, AEW has the toxic fan base of the 2. AEW are the ones who cry when WWE takes 1 shot against them and plays the victim with the "enjoy all wrestling" nonsense. They try soooooo hard to be noticed by WWE and be seen as an equal, but then as soon as WWE says anything, the spoiled brat plays the victim. Tony Khan is that kid who says " I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you, I'm not touching" you while holding his finger close to your face & then goes to tell the teacher when you shove him or yell at him for it. He's also a massive hypocrite for talking about Vince & his mistakes, but then hiring Ric Flair the same week & keeping Jericho on tv during his accusations. Tony is the biggest tribalist of all and is honestly the reason why AEW is failing because HE is what is holding them back
He's more of a hypocrite now for crying about Punk's interview and sends Edge out to end the tribalism talk and put a positive spin on things when it was ONE MAN'S experience working for them, the fans didn't do anything. It was one man's experience, then the very next week was a petty brat who showed the footage, proving EVERYTHING punk said was true. He's self destructing his own company out of being petty, he's everything he went after Eric Bischoff for being. The wrestlers (like Edge) have to look at him as a joke because they get paid the highest they ever have, for 2 days a week, 3 at most, and have full creative freedom over him while having none of the pushback because the company can't draw views or fill seats.
Yeah but HHH was one of the boys too and he gets that part of it too. Tony is a fan with a lot of money. Each have their benefits and drawbacks but it’s two different products. At the end of the day, the people who wins are the fans.
Edge knew what he was getting into back in 2020 when he returned to WWE. He knew that he was going to be underutilized, and what happened? He won the Rumble and lost at mania. Then he created the judgment day only to be ejected from it. If he really felt this way about AEW, he should've went there in 2020 instead of wasting what little time in ring he had left
Its easy for us to kick back and say he should have just gone to AEW from the get go. But by RR2020, AEW dynamite was just 4-5 months old. They had barely just started and in terms of talent signing it there weren't major names coming on board. Of the top of my head it was Taz, Brodie Lee, Lance archer and Matt Hardy, probably a few others I'm forgetting. AEW was probably not even on Edge's radar tbh
@@GrimspecteR. Chris Jericho played a huge part in establishing AEW but that was 2019. I'm not sure if 'hey we got Jericho' was enough to attract big time free agency in just 5 months is my point. It took a few years for the ball to get rolling, where talent looked at AEW as a viable career option
A wrestling promotion is not there to facilitate the fantasy matches of its talent but to make money off of building toward money matches. AEW will probably have Adam Copeland wrestle Samoa Joe in a few weeks on Dynamite. No angle, no build, just here is a 'dream match' and then it's onto the next one. I understand why Adam Copeland in his 50s likes AEW. You wrestle once a week for a ton of money and you can have 'dream matches'. That the company doesn't make a dime is irrelevant.

I have a different problem where AEW has dropped off, but WWE dropped off even harder after WrestleMania last year and haven't recovered. The Rumble was good this year, the two last matches of night 1 and most of night 2 of WM this year were great, but I'm just not into WWE as a weekly product.
