Interesting. I always thought that solos were just a matter of improvising, but if you have a lets say 10 phrases in your pocket that you have mastered, its better

Get 1 cheap conga tumbadora, , the fat one. Then look for a slow son montuno here in youtube. Slow it down to 25% speed which is really slow. Follow along. Speed comes with practice. That’s how my mom taught me when I was 8 yrs old. I am now over 65😊
Hi Lorenzo, are counting in your head to stay in time and clave and go back to the basic pattern or you just know how many times you need to strike the congas?

in the sense that I have the clave in mind, obviously, and in any case I know how many bars the phrase is made up of
@@LorenzoLo but I see some music notation in the videos. Do you make the phrases in advance? should it be possible to make a lesson via whatapp so you explain me your system to come up with these variations? they are very melodic.

Oso chiederti un consiglio per quanto riguarda l' amplificazione delle congas, visto che si sentono cosi' bene. Mi sapresti indicare un buon acquisto? Grazie
Ciao !!! intanto grazie per aver visto il video e felice che ti sia piaciuto (se ti interessano queste frasi dimmi che te le posso mandare) ... per quanto riguarda l'amplificazione: allora ci sono vari modi (dipende dalla comodità che vuoi tu).
1) microfoni a clip (tipo quelli che si mettono sul rullante o Tom della batteria) , ma devi avere i bordi delle congas dritti e non come i miei tondi
2) microfono panoramico , quelli da batteria vanno benissimo
3) microfono direzionale , tipo gli AKG messi a distanza corretta sono una bomba (io uso quello)
Grazie tanto per l'info, le frasi le ho tradotte sulla carta. E' stata un impresa per me che non ho basi di solfeggio pero' e' stato bello ed ho imparato tanto. Grazie ancora per la disponibilita'.🙏

Very helpful. Am learning/improving my tumbao and guguanco rumba conga. Some of these solos will help my vocabulary. Thanks for showing this. You seem very comfortable with the conga. How long have you been playing it? Is it your favourite percussion instrument?
