The incident occurred when he was about 10 years old and was playing with a toy, which turned out to be dangerous. The toy broke, causing severe damage to the fingers on both of his hands. Despite this, Hidalgo made an extraordinary recovery. He was determined not to let the injury impede his music, and through relentless practice and passion, he adapted and developed a unique playing style that contributed to his legendary status in the world of percussion. This accident and his resilience in overcoming it have added to the remarkable story of his career.
