Yes, there is mega big money in trucking. I wasted 8 yrs as a COMPANY SLAVE. Today as a company owner, independent owner operator running under my own authority, 6yrs in business. I do a 14-17 day run. $20,000 in line haul is my goal. Every month is a 10+ day vacation. I run a reefer and only spend $16,000 to $22,000 a year in maintenance. After taxes, fuel and licensing I profit $140,000 in the bank. There is no short cut to success. Get your own authority and work open broker boards for trips. You will never see the big money of this industry as a COMPANY SLAVE.
Can i ask for your tips and opinion in my situation? I want to switch careers and truck driving has always been something i wanted to do. I’ve watched a lot of videos about trucking and gaining some general knowledge from them but my questions is ; once i get my CDL, should i start working for a company first to gain experience or would it be ok to make the jump immediately and get my own truck to run?? I do have money saved by the way.
Who and which trucking company to do lease to own operator? I knew Asian Mai will or already started a trucking company which does it? How can I get in touch with you?

Sounds like the planets and the stars were aligned in pretty good order for this guy. To have someone loan you a truck at no charge is a rarity, not to mention, setting him up with a high paying lane. I know he had troubles but imagine those troubles with a monthly payment. A nice success story but not typical.
Believe me, I am VERY aware of how blessed I was. That’s why, even tho it was painful, I didn’t mind spending on repairs for her truck. Without her assistance I wouldn’t be where I am.
Privilege... I wouldn't want to go there but being part of the majority race helps a lot.. people are more willing to help those that look like them.. it's always only white people that have these "I just got lucky" stories

It definitely helps when the cost of loads has gone up almost 5-10X in the past 5 years. Take advantage of it, everyone wants to work from home now and the those in trucks of their own are gonna be retiring early.

Reading these comments you become aware of all the pocket watching that goes on in this industry. I make 360 dollars a day driving an end dump with a 10-12 hour shift. I don’t have to worry about mechanical issues, being away from the family for weeks at a time, maintenance etc etc. so for all the newbies out there I have some advice. Find something that fits YOU if you want family time and low stress find it. If YOU are all for the money don’t value your work/life balance find it. But don’t just follow the money because you may end up hating your job, look at the bigger picture and find something that fits your lifestyle. And for all the pocket watchers, don’t hate on the man. Dude, your selling a fairytale. Handed a truck and operating authority, with no experience. I’ve been in this business 26 years and have seen owner operators in it twice as long as me scraping change together just to change oil or buy fuel, still working under someone else. You better without any hesitation pass that forward to every driver you sign. Truck driving isn’t a job, it’s a lifestyle, and a hard one at that.
Wow! I'm very impressed. I've been working as a sales representative for twenty nine years and am ready for a change. You motivated me enough to start my CDL training.

Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. "You're not going to remember those expensive shoes you bought ten years ago, but you will remember every single morning when you look at your bank account that extra 0 in there. I promise, that's going to be way more fun to look at everyday", I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life too 🙏🙏🙏
you've remind me of what someone once said "The mind is the man, the poor is in it and the rich is it too". This sentence is the secret of most successful investors. I once attended similar and ever since then been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..investment is the key that can secure your family future.
Starting early is the best way of getting ahead to build wealth, investing remains a priority. I learnt from my last year's experience, i am able to build a suitable life because I invested early ahead this time.
Yeah investment is the key to sustaining your financial longevity but venturing into any legitimate investment without a proper guidance of an expert can lead to greater loss too

The math adds up. $40k into 4 is 10 10k- $2000 per week on Diesel is $8000 per week . 8x4 is $32k. Minus an average monthly expense of $6300 on a new truck(with trailer payment and insurance) is $25.7k. Minus 15%-24% tax is 3855. 25,700-3855=$21,845 profit.... With NO trailer and NO truck payment his net would be an AVERAGE OF $26,145 so he is telling the TRUTH people. Numbers don't lie. Update: This Is a rough estimate allowing for a wide range of payments on equipment and insurance. My personal bills are $3k a month and I've had my authority a very very long time. Absolutely amazing 👏 💯. I've been driving trucks hauling reefer for 6 years now. I'm still a company driver and always have been. This really motivated me to quit making someone else rich. I plan to start my own operation within a year's time I just need to talk to someone to help me figure out getting started.
My guy! I watch a lot of your videos, and I have the utmost respect for you. I'm not saying this guy isn't making the money that he is, because I was fairly green when I bought my peterbilt and came on as an O/O with offers from $8k-$11k a WEEK. But showing your CDL with an issue date means absolutely nothing, because every time you go and acquire an additional endorsement, it changes your issue date on your cdl. I seriously hope that you're not misdirecting people deliberately.
Alex!!! My first truck starting going thru a gallon of oil a day. I got it into the shop(fairly quickly) in the town I lived in and got it fixed. $5k to get the truck fixed and the pm maintenance. I admire this guys courage to back himself. After decades of working in trauma environment ptsd has got a hold. I grew up with father and uncles as owner operators and I think it’s in my blood. It’s hard on the wrong side of 50 to back yourself but hats off to this lad. Wish there was a video like this with regards to Australia. Good luck to this bloke and hope he gets the success he deserves.
Everyone is on a different level, you can't compare yourself to this dude because everyone's circumstances are different. This dude already had it planned and did his homework and had the support. Usually everyone new to trucking is in debt or struggling and can only start as a company driver and will stay as a company driver. You have to find a company that is fair and is considerate of the driver because there are companies who tell their dispatch to plan the loads to benefit the company and not the driver. For example they'll get short runs that pay good but not enough miles for the driver. Maybe get the first load with miles to get driver to go but after you'll see the trend low miles after the first load. They'll say they couldn't find good rates etc. Get away fast from these companies.
Hopefully he has been able to adapt to the current market. Anyone could've gotten a truck the last year, year and a half and made money. With this hard times is when you'll see who knows what they are doing and who will struggle
A lot of people will say this is cap…. However I’ve been driving for 4 months and stared in a flatbed company as an owner operator straight out the door.
I'm 28 years old got my CDL about a week ago..my goal is to gain experience at some company save some money and then buy my own rig after watching this video there's no doubt I'm not doing this. eventually I'll own a couple rigs and have ppl working for me 😁
This guy is such an inspiration!! I've been debating getting my CDL for several months now, I was under the impression that one has to work making money for big name carriers for minimal pay. I'd like information on anything to properly start down this path, or where I can find it, because I don't even know what an authority is, for starters.
Plenty of information on youtube about authority. I'd advice getting some experience from a company doesn't have to be a mega carrier, get a local job when you have your cdl. After some months you can start your Authority doesn't cost a whole lot. The biggest expense would be insurance, gas and maintenance for the truck.
Our carrier company with a good reputation of 15 years is currently hiring fb/sd owner operators. It is not a large company. He is right about 39k-40k a month in gross, maybe even more. I myself found for my driver a load in gross of 37, 790 in the last 22 days period. It depends on many factors but we are always trying to find the best deal. You just need to have a good work ethic. In regards to 5 mo experience mentioned in the video. We hire drivers with at least 2 years experience. Our insurance simply wont allow less than that.
Best part of being owner operator is you work when you want. You work for others you put your life in danger because they'll send to drive through ice, snow, blizzards.... you mention.
He is the coolest guest that you ever have in your Chanel... He is not lucky , he is gifted with great personality , and I believe that why he is achieving lot in very short period of time...

Been learning a lot from the channel. I'm a newer driver with a goal of becoming an owner operator at some point in the future. Would be cool to see some content on buying a truck for the first time
Find a good quality older model, that has more power then most of these newere ones, Ie older by Peterbilt classic, w900, figure out what runs youd want to do flat deck reefer etc, how long you want to do, average pay for fuel, per trip, etc, how much insurance vrs older/newer will be, find a good solid company that can give ya what you need to accel
Hey I run that load all the time….He not telling everything but the numbers are real!! You have to pickup from 3 different customers!! That alone is 1 to 2days driving than once you get loaded!! It’s another 3-4days driving!! So it takes bout a good week plus fuel!! That fuel bill gonna eat you up cause your crazy heavy!! Even with discount fuel!! I run paper logs so it takes me bout 4days!! But trying to get those loads in the winter time is very dangerous!! The roads are super nasty!! Pretty much ice road trucker game!!
If an owner operator quite a bit of expense comes out that "gross", total amount, plus you have to pay employer's portion of federal taxes, unemployment state, workman's comp, comprehensive and liability truck insurance, plus repairs, maintenance, gas, pay 100% of your own benefits, and cost of vehicle which is huge. Not saying you can't make a good living but don't compare a owner/operator gross amount with a salary or other employee types of compensation.
Awesome video great inspiration. I'm starting cdl school this month, and I took a lot of notes. Why re-invent the wheel when I can copy what other successful people have done! Thank you MuthaTrucker!

Sounds like the planets and the stars were aligned in pretty good order for this guy. To have someone loan you a truck at no charge is a rarity, not to mention, setting him up with a high paying lane. I know he had troubles but imagine those troubles with a monthly payment. A nice success story but not typical.
Believe me, I am VERY aware of how blessed I was. That’s why, even tho it was painful, I didn’t mind spending on repairs for her truck. Without her assistance I wouldn’t be where I am.

Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Cool dude I’m proud of his determination and perseverance 🤙🏾

In regards to 5 mo experience mentioned in the video. We hire drivers with at least 2 years experience. Our insurance simply wont allow less than that.
Ya he's right i was working local at the port i started over the road at the end of may since now i saved $116k I'm dispatch myself.
Can we text or talk on the phone. That’s awesome man! That’s my goal to make that money and provide for my family!
Wow. I'd also love to speak to you.
Best part of being owner operator is you work when you want. You work for others you put your life in danger because they'll send to drive through ice, snow, blizzards.... you mention.
Facts! You control your destiny when you become O/O
Well he’s in for a huge surprise come winter for about 1/3 of that drive from Washington 🤣
Bravo‼️👏🏾
Thank You for your service to the country and wishing you continued success.
He is the coolest guest that you ever have in your Chanel...
He is not lucky , he is gifted with great personality , and I believe that why he is achieving lot in very short period of time...
I'm currently doing my CDL lessons and this motivates me. Thanks man.
Same here
O/O since mid November and already made 120k . Building savings for my self and the “ company “ I was scared of the move but it’s paying off. Be smart with the money , keep up with maintaining the truck and trailer and don’t take CHEAP LOADS. Know what your worth!! Best of luck to all . Sun shines for all . Get out there and get it $$$$
Don’t take cheap loads?
Many don’t know what a good load is….so what is a decent load in your language?
Explain more
Give me pointers
I have my cdl with endorsements, I'm open to walk away from my 100k annual income to do this. I have no idea how to start, would need your assistance. Reach if you are to duplicating this and we could even document it.
I plan on working 5 years as company driver. During that 5 years plan to get experience in dry van/refeer/flat bed. After that plan to go O/O. Catch me in my Wester Star 57x lol
I believe this guy it can be done. i Did it age 22 late 80s early 90s 7yrs with lone from my grandmother Lucky privileged i know but hard work paid off. And i believe not having a wife or children ,had alot to do with my success. I know owner operators that gave up lost everything over divorce, girlfrends problems at home. i say any single person should give it a go. Don't even need a highschool diploma to earn more the someone with a masters degree. not gonna destroy a family... GO! FOR! IT! What ya got to lose?
Been learning a lot from the channel. I'm a newer driver with a goal of becoming an owner operator at some point in the future. Would be cool to see some content on buying a truck for the first time
Find a good quality older model, that has more power then most of these newere ones, Ie older by Peterbilt classic, w900, figure out what runs youd want to do flat deck reefer etc, how long you want to do, average pay for fuel, per trip, etc, how much insurance vrs older/newer will be, find a good solid company that can give ya what you need to accel
You changed my life. Thank you
😇🤗
Hey I run that load all the time….He not telling everything but the numbers are real!! You have to pickup from 3 different customers!! That alone is 1 to 2days driving than once you get loaded!! It’s another 3-4days driving!! So it takes bout a good week plus fuel!! That fuel bill gonna eat you up cause your crazy heavy!! Even with discount fuel!! I run paper logs so it takes me bout 4days!! But trying to get those loads in the winter time is very dangerous!! The roads are super nasty!! Pretty much ice road trucker game!!
Okay!! But why all the !! After every sentence!! You give me anxiety!!
@@itzdasix 🤣😂😂 I can say the same thing about your music 🤣
@@calvinstreets2260 😂😂👍
Finally got my CDL pick up my license today!
I am a dispatcher and my best truck grosses 50k+ monthly as a team averaging well above 3.50RPM. Reefer team. Light work.
That’s a blessing bro!! 💪🏾💪🏾
What holding you back. The only person that can change your life it’s You.
What a crazy story.. Thanks for sharing. I hope aspiring drivers do not think this is the norm. It is not.
Yeah very good points. What do you think is the total percentage of taxes that people like this would pay on a 1099 per year?
@@adilsheikh1401 28%
Awesome video great inspiration. I'm starting cdl school this month, and I took a lot of notes. Why re-invent the wheel when I can copy what other successful people have done! Thank you MuthaTrucker!
Dude. Congrats on being soooooooo unique in your skills and all around merits.
I wonder how hard it is to find the lane (s) like this guy has found. I could buy a new rig and reefer trailer for cash but seems stupid if you can't find a cash cow type run
I thought this too lol
That's awesome. I'm a new authority with a new cdl. Getting ready to do my first load This Thursday. Alot to do just to get ready but anything is possible if you put ur mind into it. I got my cdl 2nd week of September of this year. I bought a 2016 peterbilt 579
I’ve been looking at 579’s are they any good ?
@@josephpepin1420
Hey man. Yeah there obviously good just like kenworth as well. In my opinion there the Cadillac version for semi trucks. But it all depends on what you really like and do a test drive and also make sure you know what the deal is with that particular truck before you buy it.
@@nascar8and20 what’s your opinion on the paccar engine ?
@@josephpepin1420
I wanted to go with Cummings but my truck has a paccar. The only difference is there are more mechanics who can deal with Cummings vs paccar. But that doesn't mean you won't have good luck finding a mechanic that knows paccar if you don't want to deal with the paccar dealership. I like the engine and I'm happy with it. Running perfect. Just be on top of maintenance like everything else
Did you finance?
Great interview especially for the veterans in trucking. Would it be possible to do a veterans owner operator series 🤔
1980 I ran 301 miles with 2-6,000 pound electronic cabinets to the nuclear powerplant and it grossed $1,995.00. When trucking was great.
Hey guys stop hating on this man and do the math. What it costs to run his truck may not be the same to run ours… look at the rate 10,400.. how many miles, it’s also a reefer. Ask yourself, how many mpg does your truck go? This is basic math! But keep up the good work sir!
Truth be told I really appreciate The Asian Mai show. Theres so much valuable information on this show. I currently in the works in starting class. I got my CDL Permit. The 3 part test is completed. My class consultation start in January. The only available date😭. To long to wait😆. This interview was awesome really got me feeling great about trucking. Really open my 👀. Thanks and keep doing an awesome job. God Bless 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Me too Terrell where are you from?
I’m starting January 10th bro! We got this
This makes me feel like shit. Been a company driver for superior pools for 12 years. If I told you my pay you'd die of laughter. I've often thought of doing it on my own but I get scared, and don't want to go otr. I wish I could do something like this.
You gotta take risks in life in order to get far.
You got this 😤
Drive a hazmat tanker. 90-100k a year local home daily.
@@OutSkirtz if only I could find that job. I must have filled out 30 cdl a jobs on indeed and they either end up otr, or just something similar to what I have
@@Finfanpete see if you have advantage tank lines in your area. They’re across all states hiring 28-30 an hour. I work for a smaller company but I see them guys at the terminal often
This was one of the most inspirational videos I've watched on your show. I relate so much to that brother because I AM A DISABLED VETERAN. I got my CDL 2 mo this ago and I want to get into the trucking business so badly. Truck prices are sky high right now.
The Canadian truck market is at least 10k cheaper, you just have to be thorough with the screening.
@Cosby Ikaev any courses you could recommend?
The US allows you to import vehicles from anywhere else in the world if they're over the age of 25. You can find plenty of CoE trucks in Europe for very cheap and you can ship them to the US and then put a modern American motor in it to make it California compliant.
So far new owner operators I've seen had to put in another 30-40k back into the trucks for repairs
