What a nice day for fishing! And nice catches too! I don’t have any rivers near me to fish, so it’s a planned trip north if I want to fish. You’re lucky to have a river nearby. Cheers!
I love it when your accent slips from polite Scottish to the twang of the shire And I love the anticipation of what’s to come as you walk along the fence lines on your way to the beat But the pinnacle of my day is when you strike ,once again I thank you for taking the time to explain your every action We have a small river running along the bottom of our fields the Rye Water where Robert Burns wrote about coming through the rye and one day I’ll find out who has the rights to fish it as I believe it holds grayling and small browns ,tight lines Davie
Hi Davie, I love watching you tying flies as well as these fishing trips. Some nice fish brought to your net. I was hoping you would hook a salmon. Maybe next time. The water flow on the Doon didn’t look too bad today. The River Doon and the surrounding scenery looks a lot like Catskill Rivers and streams here in New York State. Tight-Lines…🎣 👍🏼
Hi Dave 👍🏻first thank you for all your skill on fly tying and fishing. I’ve fished the Hampshire Avon for Salmon this year 2023 until my bones hurt !! For not a bite but I still go with hope of a better future for Salmon fishing ❤
Hi Terry, Like Bogdan said below it's the River Doon which flows from the Galloway hills through Loch Doon and then runs 21 miles to the sea on the south west cost of Scotland..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie..
@@DavieMcPhail I'm more of a Hardy guy myself. Though I'm not a big fan of most English stuff.. (half Irish and half Norwegian myself) lol... I really do like the Hardy rods and reels.
Hi Glenn, I had a full season using a Hardy Palakona 9ft 4# cane rod on the river when a friend gave me a loan of one due to my rod getting broke when I first started fishing and to be honest I feel it made me a better caster as I really enjoyed fishing with it so when he took it back I did miss it a lot...I always meant to buy one but I never got round to it though I'm sure if I lived in America I would certainly have bought one. I have cast some very special ones when I was over there like a Leonard and a Garrison but when I found out how much they were worth I carefully gave them back.. All the very best Davie
Certainly not cheap, but when you cast a dry it is such a pleasure. I recently completely rebuilt my fathers custom built rod. It is over 80 years old. I caught my 1st trout on that rodon the Little Bushkill in NE PA, and 60 years later was catching trout again on the Arkansas River in Colorado. Memories!
Hi Terry, I was using a 5x fluorocarbon tippet from Fulling Mill which I have attached a link to for you to see... All the very best Davie www.fullingmill.co.uk/Products-UK/Fluorocarbon-UK/World-Class-Fluorocarbon-V2-2lb-50m-UK

I think what I liked the best is it wasn't one fish after another after another. More "realistic" ;)
The scottish weather is not like this ... this weather is rare 😂😂
