Hey buddy.. Your fish welfare is great to see👏👏👏 I'm local and love wild Brownies... Love it😊 My local river as a boy was the River Devon and the memories that flooded back watching this was bliss👍
I live in Los Angeles near the desert,it’s great to hear the birds with the water flowing,it’s great,I’m from Prestwick,I really miss Scotland ,miss the water
Nice fish n the river doon is a besutiful stretch of water. Thank you for putting this video up. I enjoy voyeuristic fishing with you. Keep them coming. Love fishing foe browns! God Bless n Fish on!!
Doon the Doon Davie...nice wee day for you to get out on the river. Plenty action too. The easterly winds have thankfully abated but we are left with a softer northerly now. You are right the season is behind now due to the cold spell during April. On the Kelvin the fish are now thankfully rising well to LDO and the Grannom has put in an appearance too. Lovely wee river the Doon. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Great tying and great fishing. Tight lines for the season.
A very productive outing on an overcast day. The Dynamite Harry dry fly is appealing to the trout. The name is interesting; seems like one that might be given to an old California gold miner. Thank you Davie, for showing the real insects, and their buggy fly imitators. Liked the background bird sounds, and the greening of Spring in Scotland.
Nice river ... nice nature .... nice video... i am also fly fisher in swiss rivers .... my prefered dry flies are all examples from your tying films ..... maximum functionality 👍🏻👍🏻 please . more fly fishing films 🖤🖤👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻greetings from switzerland
Very nice video Davey, happy to watch you cast to and catch some fish. I’m really liking your circular casting. I believe it’s something I’ll put into practice too. Thanks for showing us the Doon. God bless. Tom T from NJ
Absolutely a master class. Very reassuring to see you miss some fish. Nice demonstration of a modified snake roll cast when there is no backcast room. I only wish that the fly had a hi-viz sighter so I could follow it in the video
A good days fishing Davie some lovely looking fish, Their was a massive hatch of grannom on the ayr yesterday fish rising everywhere I found it difficult to get a take though was really frustrating.
Another great video Davie. Going to make next 7 weeks till i return to UK seem even longer.then its a week on course, then 5 days back in Ayr and then the whole of July fishing in North Wales. Cant wait
That was fun. Enjoyed it a lot. If you get out again while the March Browns are out how about trying the Clyde style dries? Thanks for taking us along.
The Doon seems to be fishing better than the Ayr at the moment Davie. Its been a slow start this year and hardly seeing any flies coming off but perhaps that because I'm only getting there later in the day. They are lovely colourful trout you are catching and nice to see a few smolts too.
Great days fishing Davie, you saved the best fish until last - thank you. Looks a lovely river and quite easy wading. It’s still so cold here in N Yorks and the river well above fishable level. Hoping for warmer weather so I can get out. 👍
Thanks for another great video, I hope Cadence are giving you commission 😅 because on the back of watching your videos I have today ordered the same rod you are using and the reel , I was using a Greys 5 weight for dry fly stuff but feel I lose fish due to it not giving as much on the take.. so I look forward to receiving my new kit and using it.. I searched everywhere for the Harry dry fly you were using, but can't find anyone selling them, I do tie myself , but my talents are with nymphs and spiders..cheers P.s nice to see fish rising, I fish Earn and Devon at home, plus Whiteadder in the borders and haven't seen any decent rises so far this season.
Awesome Vids I’m just getting back into fly fishing and I’ll be fishing the Doon at Dalrymple as I live on it, what do you recommend rod size for the river, I’ll also be fishing up on the Gala, Elgin, Carrick and Whitespout lanes above Loch Doon
Hi Norman, I have attached a link to the Cadence 9ft rod and 4# line I was using for you to see, I feel they are a perfect match.. Hi Davie. I love watching you on the river. Do you treat your lines when river fishing ? Such as adding fullers earth or similar below your dry fly when fishing duo or a foot or so above a dry when on its own ? or on your cast when fishing wets ? or any floatant above your dry fly when on it's own ? Hope that makes sense.
Great instructional video Davie. Lifts the spirit to see you out and about. I notice you look to be using a different fly line. Would that be from Mike Barrio? I only ask because I use one and find them to be really good?
Im curious why you state that you cannot fish from the other side. Not familiar with most of the fishing rules in Europe. Please let me know just curious. I live in California near many rivers that I get to fish as the land owners only own up to the high water line and on the river we can go up and down to either side no matter . Thanks Gregg
Hi Gregg, The reason I can't fish the other side is that it's owned by another gentleman and the ticket I have only allows me to fish the side I was on, I am a member of a syndicate on this beat which allows me to fish on a Friday. I'm also a member of two club waters on the river Ayr which allows me to fish throughout the season, both clubs own these waters so I can fish everyday if I want.. All the very best Davie
Really enjoyed this video Davie❤ one question, if you do catch a parr while trout fishing I'm assuming it must be returned, but when it comes to catching a rainbow trout on the river what procedure should you apply? Many thanks again.
Hi dongil123, Seatrout and salmon parr should always be returned but if you catch a rainbow trout then you can keep it. In all the years I have fished the river I have only caught two and they escaped from a fish farm that used to operate halfway up the water but as far as I believe they stopped a few years ago..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie

Fantastic video, Davie, and that casting, so smooth-I wish I could cast half as well!
I enjoyed watching Davie.
Well done! Very enjoyable! I miss being able to get to our rivers to fish for brown trout.
The scenery is so similar to Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Lovely water, the Doon.
Great to see you out and about and catching on the dry fly Davie.
Seen some daddies around here in Glasgow too
