Playstation One Laser Adjustment

I set this Ps One's laser to read games again.

I just bought a new disc laser reader, and I might've accidentally partially burned it by increasing the potentiometer too much. I wish all these games were digital, so we don't have to worry about a lazer failing. Oh, well. I plan to sell mine after giving up on fixing it. At first, it was the capacitors, then the disk reader, and so forth.
Btw, what PS1 model is that? I tried 0.852, but it's still lagging and freezing, and sometimes, eventually, it becomes all black screen.

It is a SCPH-102. I'm sorry to hear that, usually I't takes me around 3-4 tries to get it correctly dialed. The secret is to lower the resistance gradually, you don't want to overdo it and kill the laser. It is also possible that the laser you bought was faulty from the factory, I had bad luck with these before. Techically there are ways to mod your system to take games on sd card but it's quite pricey in my opinion. I'm sorry to hear that you are giveing up on your project but I totally get it. There a lot of things that are on my back burner that I could not fix at the moment.

My PlayStation stops at PS logo screen, tried potentiometer tweak, some games load, some don’t.

Sometimes this happens with the playstations I work on. I usually change the laser for a used good one or I buy an aftermarket one when this is the case.

I would recommend lowering the resistance slightly, like in the video. If it doesn't help you may want to replace the laser. Withouth an oscilloscope it's a guessing game.

You're right. On the one hand I said it in the video that this is not the most effective way of fixing it. On the other hand it still worth to try, why buy a new laser if you can set it this way?
I'm guessing you're useing an ossciloscope for your servicing jobs.
I gladly accept some pointers if your willing to share some information with me.
