Haha. Funny thing. I had the same exact argument with myself this summer. I went to my local golf store few months back to fit myself new blades. I had already decided which clubs to try. Propably needles to say, Srixon Z-Forged irons were not in the mix. I tried several brands but I kinda expected to walk out the store with new Mizuno MB's. How ever...
After a while the fitter asked me if I wanted to try out one more iron. He gave me Srixon Z-Forget 7 iron from his own bag. It was love at the first swing. For some unexplained reason I got almost 3mph more speed compared to Mizunos and the swing balance was way better.
I had to go trough very serious debate with my ego if I could put Srixons in my bag. After that battle I am now hitting way more greens than I used to. I lowered my handicap from 3.6 to 1.0 this year. I am not saying it's just becouse those clubs but I have been playing golf since 5 years old and I am 34 years old now so that kind of performance upgrade is not typical for me, unfortunately.
And one more thing I must say. I didn't really believe that different clubs suit better for different swings. I always thought that there might be some small differences in performance but I was under the impression that it's 90% marketing speaking there. Like when club fitters say "come here and get fitted for new clubs and you'll lower your score", I was always thinking in my mind "yeah right". But. All those irons performed SO DIFFERENTY. For example my friend loves his Staff Model blades and he is hitting those arguably better than any other clubs he has tried. But for me every shot went sky high. 7 iron felt like 9 iron.
So. Srixons are in my bag for good reason. So for you who is reading this comment and thinking if you should try Srixons as well, I tell you: YES. Srixons may or may not be best for your swing, but I honestly think Srixons should always be in the mix when you are fitting yourself a new clubs.
    Cheers: -Panu

Played Callaway all my life except wedges, Cleveland for me, tried others but always come back to the best, playing my 3rd set of rtx3's!! Anyway i popped in to my local range to buy my 3rd set and on the counter were the heads of the ZX7 and ZX5, i picked up the 5's and it was, wow!!! these are gorgeous. I immediately took them out with a bucket of balls and less than a dozen balls later my mind was made up. Everything, absolutely everything i want from an iron is in this sleek beautiful package. Bought them immediately and should be here early next week, im not one to chop and change so it was quite the revelation for me but they are just so good, they have given me my mojo back, well perhaps a 2nd mojo, cannot wait, drooling as i type!!!

Playing Z765 since 2018. Fell in love with the looks. Performs as well as any other forged irons. The best part of Srixon is (hate to say it) that they are the most price competitive. Best "bang for the buck" IMO.

Just got fitted for the ZX7’s today and pulled the trigger! These were up against Callaway, Taylormade, and Cobra and these irons were performing beautifully! It took me a brief moment and close to 30 swings before there was no arguing these were the irons for me. My fitter applauded my stubbornness and I’ll tell you what, if I hit these bad even one time I was moving on. Even with miss hits, they’re surprisingly forgiving and you don’t give up distance. I’m a 12 handicap and was scared to buy player irons, but the ZX7’s are butter and I’m glad UA-cam has affirmed my purchase!

I had a previous model of the Srixons in my bag for almost 2 years and loved them. I used the Z745's and only changed to my current Mizuno MP18 SC's because I got a set for a really good price and my 745's were starting to look a little worn.
When the new ZX series was released, it was an iron I put right at the top of my list of possible replacements for my Mizuno's. The performance and feel is excellent and what makes it even better is the pricing when compared to the other premium brands. You get as much if not more club for less money.

Great review Andy! I’m on my 2nd set of Srixon irons. 1st were 745s and I now play Z Forged. I first went to them because I recognised their quality and also like to play something that everyone else doesn’t! The shaft and grip options (at no cost) set the bar for other manufacturers to follow and my fitter, Custom Lab Golf offers superb club building from component parts direct from Srixon, again guaranteeing the quality. When I ordered the 1st set, the 4 irons were out of stock so Srixon supplies a hybrid in my choice of loft, free of charge, until the 4 iron arrived. Win, win. I believe the quality is compatible to Mizuno and its nice to have something a little ‘unique’. Keep up the good work, I’m loving it 👍

I would definitely consider Srixon for my next iron purchase. I recently purchased a new set. Going into my fitting, I had a preconceived notion that I'd like the Mizuno Hot Metal Tour (I did, btw), but my fitter also had me try the Wilson D7 forged. I would have never considered a Wilson set but they are fantastic! My guess is that these Srixons will fit a lot of people if they give them a chance. Hi Andy, I was looking at Srixon irons when looking for new irons last year. I ended up buying PXG 0211 irons though. The biggest factor to be honest was price. PXG has a program in the US that offered the irons at quite a large discount. It was too great a deal to pass up. I also purchased a Gen 1 3 wood for a great price as well. I am extremely happy with my decision.

I was introduced to Cleveland Irons a number of years ago, a fitting whilst on holiday in Florida. Cleveland / Srixon were and are bigger brand in US market than Europe. I've slowly seen both brands raising their profiles here and Seixon Irons were my latest purchase. Z585 which are beautiful to hit and perform incredibly for me. I will now always seek them first ahead of other brands.
Having said that I've just replaced Cleveland RTX 2 wedges with Taylormade MG2 as the playability in my hands was what convinced me to change. So I'm not stuck in one brand only - if it's right I'll go with it, if not what is best!

Had a similar feeling when I went to my fitting with True Spec. Hit all the usual suspects and was pretty happy with a couple. Fitter said he wanted me to hit one more and pulled out the 785s. I was kind of meh but had gone in telling myself I'd trust the fitter and the numbers so I humored him. Well they ended up blowing everything out of the water numbers wise for me. Consistently 4-5 yards longer and the dispersion circle was unreal. Still wasn't sure if I was sold on the brand or the looks but he said it'd be foolish to go with anything else. After getting the clubs and putting them into play I quickly became a Srixon loyalist. The irons are just so good. Greens in reg stat is the best it's ever been and have lowered my handicap from a 9 to a 5 in my first year playing them as a result of both the club and the custom fit. Mostly likely will be sticking with the 785s but definitely want to hit these to see how much difference there is. The X5 looks like it blends better than the previous model so I could see myself potentially combing in a 4 and 5 iron.

I bought them because of sleek look, feel and how they felt in my hands. I stumbled upon them. I was looking for forged and thought my game was ready for that. I had the same reservations about srixon as you mentioned. I don’t have access to many different types of clubs other than a few name brands. But I choose the clubs by eye and feel like I do most everything else in my life. I was not wrong. Their quality is undeniable. They are way better than I imagined. I’m way more consistent. I know where my bad shots are going and they have plugged all the holes I had from 165 to 205. I’m much more confident and can play irons of the tee strategically. I play more par 5 with driver/irons instead of driver/woods as well.

I went for a fitting back in August and ended up getting fit for Srixon 785s. They are amazing soft and great clubs. I switched from the Taylormade P790s.

Recently fitted for irons and Srixon's ZX5s were extremely consistent in addition to having wonderful feel and having ample spin and distance. Shots that I mis-hit were ending up on the green. Highly recommend them.

Great product playing Z155 irons and Z355 driver and Cleveland CBX2 wedges and Fronline putter. Great review And looking forward to seeing the ZX4.
Only downside not always easy to find a fitter.

I'm planning on changing my clubs, and Srixon and Mizuno are both high on my list.
I haven't looked at Srixon, as I suppose I went to the comfort zone of a major/well known brand.
I've heard lots of fantastic feedback from Srixon, so I'll definitely be testing them.

I think they have a lot going for them. I’d try them in a fitting and if they worked with the right shaft, I wouldn’t hesitate buying them. I tend to think of them as a better players club, but the tech is impressive and they could work for me.

Good review and poses the right question re brand awareness and marketing. Maybe what needs to be looked at is whether Srixon think a bit like Mizuno and feel they don't need to over-markwt what they do...and wait for folks to just come round to seeing how good they are.
Have to say never looked at Srixon irons before but very tempted...👍

I just recently went and had ever intention of walking out with callaway apex pros...I tested those along with Mizuno jpx tour, p770, zx5s, g425, and Wilson staff model cbs.. By far the best performer for me was the Wilson staff. Did best in every single category. I wanted so much the apex to outperform all the rest but in the end I couldn't ignore the Wilson staff and walked out with the model cbs. Went to course couple days later and backed up what I seen in the store..I'm so impressed by them I thinking bout buying a 2nd set so I can play them the rest of my life... I looked at Wilson like a lot look at srixon. I'll never over look them again

Played Mizuno and then Ping exclusively. This past year my brother-in-law turned me on to a lightly used set of Z585. Amazing pop off the face and best feeling clubs I’ve had in a long time. The short irons are amazing good. While the Z’s are forgiving, I’m not consistent enough in the ball striking department with anything above a 7 iron. I tried a set of PXG 0211 irons, which feel really good...but not Z585 good. The PXG are more consistent, but I lose about 4 yards of carry for some clubs, so it is a trade off. I am going to reassess over the winter with a some club data for each and decide where I want to land. I am guessing I play Srixon short irons, different mid-irons and more hybrids given that I am over 60 and starting to lose ground.
Keep up the great reviews Andy

Enjoyed your test. Love Srixon irons! I have the Z545 irons and I never wanted to trade them in because I didn’t think z765 and z785 were as good. But if this iron comes to the US soon I will try them thank you!

Went for a fitting yesterday at Precision Golf...in my head, I thought Titleist 620 CB, TM P770, Cobra Forged Tec, Callaway Apex Pro...hadn't even considered a Srixon...well, I walked out with the ZX7s...ball speed super consistent, flight super consistent, even those that felt a touch fat and thin were within about 3mph ball speed...wow

No one should question Srixon irons. They're amazing, Japanese forged irons. I changed from Mizuno to Srixon last year, based purely on launch numbers. I've never been playing better.

Recently bought new irons. Drove 60 miles to a fitting studio that stocked most brands. Intended to try these but they didn't have any Srixons in stock. Tried a good number of clubs and for what I was after nothing could beat the Ping i210s. It was a no brainer, especially because, as they've been around a while, they were a good £150-£200 cheaper than anything else.

I game (previous generation) Srixon driver and hybrids in my vacation set. I really love the looks of both the driver and the hybrids and looks are a critical purchasing factor for me. They perform as good as anything I’ve played.. I have to have to confidence that the manufacturer makes quality equipment otherwise brand isn’t high up on my decision making list.
I’m thinking of upgrading my “home” iron set and thanks to this video these are on my short list.

Nice review Andy. I played with a guy who had Srixon irons a couple of years ago and he said that if he ran across someone else who had Srixon's in the bag, there was a good chance that they had been fitted for them. Meaning, no one seeks out the brand on their own I guess. Interesting enough, I have a set of the older I-701 tour irons. Nice irons, but never really beat out my Mizuno's and made the starting line-up. You have me thinking about re-gripping them and putting them in the bag while I wait for my P770's. Cheers until next time. I'm looking forward to seeing which irons you end up with.

Well, picked up the ZX7 this season. I think these are incredible. I am a bit steep but not overly. Came off 718AP after Mizuno MP-100 , MP-14. These are not blade harsh, but blade like. Consistent.

Love your channel. I’m playing ping I15 - a step up from my Ping i5 irons
I feel I need stronger lofts. As for szrixon I feel they are not a popular brand in Canada as compared to Taylormade Calloway or Ping
But I would consider them if my fitting takes me there . Keep up the good work

Had a few sets in the past and never been disappointed. Only reason I don't have the new ones is there are very few resellers up here in Scotland, simple as that. I may go the extra mile, this time, to try the ZX5, beautifully forged and a decent size of head.

I've been a Srixon fan for a while and love my fairway woods. Question for you. At my advanced age and physical issues, I'm thinking about going to a set of hybrid irons, either the Clevelands or the Wilsons. I've seen your review of the Clevelands and in it, you mentioned that you had reviewed the Wilson LP irons earlier but I can't seem to find it in your list. Thanks from a fan from Cape Cod in the USA

I’ve been playing the 585’s for about a year. Was a Ping iron guy forever except for a brief spin with some Mizuno’s a few years ago. Wouldn’t go back. These are beautiful irons, high quality, long and just forgiving enough. I like playing an iron not everyone plays. I think the new ZX5’s & 7’s look even better and there’s not a huge difference if you want to go with a combo set. Would love to trade up now, but probably another year away for that.

In Sweden we have a saying ”to be a cat among the stoats/ermines” and I think that’s what Srixon is all about. Brands like Titleis, Taylor Made, Ping and Cobra are considered to be the good brands and Srixon is the brand that the cat brought in. But ever since I bought my Z745-irons a coupe of years ago I was totally blown away by Srixon. I love those irons, and I think they are far better than the other brands...

My Z785/585 combo set is phenomenal to play with. Even if you ignore the price, they are amazing performers and have amazing feel and sound. Can only imagine that the new ZX series that are forged by ENDO, I can only imagine that the new irons are better again. I also really like the new ZX5 design that blends it's looks seamlessly with the ZX7.
It is naive to ignore this brand if you're looking into new irons.

I’ve been fitted and have tried Srixon, was close to being fitted for Srixon until I went to the 4 and 5 iron. With the top 3 performers in 7 iron, another wound up being better for myself with another 4 and 5 iron. But Srixon did fall into my top three with a Club Champion fitting.
