Is the zx4 Mark2 the best model for seniors with ball speed 75 / 80 mph and Senior graphite shafts I am 77years old. As a young man my handicap went between scratch and 3 over a 25 year span so my basics are still reasonably good I am just getting old cheers Jim
I play Apex cf19’s. My son was fitted with the Zx5’s last year and I couldn’t believe how good of a club that was. I just moved from my long time apex clubs into a MK2 Zx5 / Zx4 combo set with SMACWRAP recoils and am having so much fun on the course. Great work Srixon! BTW love the content and thank you for the honest reviews.
Hi, great video as usual. I am a 4 handicap and play the zx5 2021 model. I am a straight ball hitter mostly. I recently hit the 2023 zx4 mkll irons. Loved everything about them from the new looks to feel and performance. The offset difference is minimal from the zx4 to the zx5. I personally like lightweight stiff shafts vs regular heavier shafts. I feel the lightweight stiff keeps my dispersion tighter. That is just me. I believe when the time comes, I will be going combo zx4 and zx5 even though I could play zx5 and zx7. No question here. I just wanted to say Thanks again for another good video and explain my thoughts on these clubs. I will be sticking with Srixon.
I have found the same. I have been gaming the std length pxg gen 5 p irons which I have loved especially feelwise but recently switched to the p770 2023 but cut half an inch and what a difference. While the shafts were different too - previously project c cypher with the pxg (nice shaft) and now the ust nanocore black (great shaft) - the difference is telling. Even though the p770 is two degrees weaker per club like for like eg take the 7 iron I get the same distances (maybe even slightly more with the p770 but certainly more precision and accuracy though feel not quite as good as the pxg). Loft (weaker) in this case is my friend but shorter clubs too!! Found the same by the way with my driver and hybrids all cut by .5 to 1” - wow what a difference!!
I’ve been waiting for this one. I’m glad it got a good review from you. And, that was so interesting on the half inch longer shaft length. Just more proof of how important fitting is.
Great video Jim. Whenever I fit someone for clubs, I have them hit different length clubs using decals to find out which length has the best center clubface strikes. Really enjoy your channel.
What is your opinion on the ping 230? They seem to be better than mizuno jpx 923 forged, Titleist 200. Only turnoff, it is not forged. Your opinion is appreciated Usually want forged. Mid handicapper btw.
Just was fitted for zx5. The only way I could center bottom of club on lie board was one inch longer and 3 degrees up. My right arm is 5 inches shorter than my left due to an accident. Can’t straighten it. How important is bottoming the club flat. Also comb by getting ax 4 in 5 and 6 iron. What are your thoughts? Watch you a lot and would love to hear from you. Thanks.
Fully in agreement about the dynamic fitting being vital. There are so many unique differences in the human form that a one size fits all approach is complete rubbish. Also, if you have some time free ;) , I would really like to know the answer to why club lofts are not standardized. Many thanks !
These irons look terrific. I think I'm ready to move on from my clunky G710 Ping ironst something a little cleaner and thinner. I'm around a 17 handicap so I'm on the fence so I know I'd fall within the ZX4 and Zx5 lines but not sure if it would make sense to get fit for one of them or create some kind of combo set
@@dan.promedio I was not. I have a higher swing speed and the zx4’s like all the other hollow body irons were just too fast/hot. I already launch the ball very high, and those made it incredibly higher. I’m not a fan of that ball fight and the long carry numbers I was getting out of them. A combo set of zx4’s in the long irons, and zx5’s after wouldn’t be a bad idea for the right person.
Hey Jim. I think you made a small mistake at the very end of the video. You said if you’re a beginner or someone looking for distance take a look at the 5. I think you meant take a look at the 4. Am I correct ?
How do I configure a combo set of Srixon irons 4-PW. High handicapper, age 73. Do not hit for distance or accuracy. I’m thinking 4,5,6 the sx5 and 7,8,9,PW the sx4, newer editions.
Would you recommend bending the ZX5 weaker ? I want the added forgiveness of the ZX5, but they are just a bit to strong loftet for my taste How would the ZX5 behave, if i got them bent 2 degrees weaker
with that idea of thinking when I choked down the swing weight changed too. secondly most golfers, including me, will not notice a practical change of 2 sw pts. the change was not noticeable to me
Of course they are great, but at the end even if they are forged and sweet sounded, nothing feels like a mizuno even my hmpros sound better, sorry bud, hahaha. Just kidding Jim,have a good drink on me.See ya on monday.
Jim, The ZX4 MKII seems to be shorter in your range sessions then the MKI by about 10- 20+ yds? Have they made it more of a Players club or tried to blend it closer to the 7&5? Great content and I've recently discovered myself that Longer length clubs does not always equal more distance. Great Channel

and all of them do it too. because they have found that distance sells. amateurs that hit the links once a week with no practice want to hit like the pros on tv. This delivers part of that

One of my customers put the ZX 7s in his bag and loves them. I don't sell them, but I am a certified Fitter for that house of brands
An unsung brand for sure

Love my ZX4s they go straight every time. They are longer and required an extra wedge at the bottom of the bag.
Outstanding presentation, Jim. Lot's of good and relevant information here. Thank you for sharing this!

What kind of golfers benefit and don't benefit from the V Sole?
I’m 5’8.5” tall so what length shafts should I have in my irons. Thanks. Very interesting video about shaft length.
You would need wrist to floor measurement as well to go off the Ping chart to start. Most likely standard but depends on your swing and arm length.

no i do not have that machine.

Zx4 mk2 in 4/5
Zk5 mk2 in 6/7/8
Zx7 mk2 in 9/P/A
That's my thinking
Would you recommend bending the ZX5 weaker ? I want the added forgiveness of the ZX5, but they are just a bit to strong loftet for my taste
How would the ZX5 behave, if i got them bent 2 degrees weaker
yes but keep in mind making the club weaker will increase the bounce by the same amount, if you thin shots i would not recommend it
So you used a club that was a 1/2" longer and choked down on it.
Say regular length is D2... now it's D5.
What effect did the extra swingweight play?
with that idea of thinking when I choked down the swing weight changed too. secondly most golfers, including me, will not notice a practical change of 2 sw pts. the change was not noticeable to me
What lines (brands) of irons do you sell?
srixon mizuno wilson callaway
How can I get your help if I’m not in Ohio?

Longer distance is a cheating game in the golf industry by the OEM. It is high time golfers realize this and get more practical.
