Gary Player and I go back a long way 😄 First met him in 1958 I think it was, at a tournament in Edinburgh. I was 21 and he was 22, a young hot shot from South Africa. I had heard about him and I wanted to see him play. It was a Saturday and he was not really in contention. There might have been a half-dozen fellows watching him. I followed him for most of his round and he chatted to us as he shot a 66. Not long after i emigrated to Canada and only saw him on TV. Ever since I have admired him and followed him with interest. I still play and can also shoot my age. Long live the Black Knight!
Good Old Gary Player. Still got it at his age and loves what he is doing...A Great Golfer....Played with some of the best, Jack, Ben, and Arnie...What a life....Thanks....
Gary has just topped me back up with desire and enthusiasm. I have felt a bit sorry for myself recently, and that was like a tonic. Cheers to you both.
As a serving Police Officer I once had the pleasure of accompanying Gary around Wentworth when he was playing in World Match Play Championship, what a man, polite, friendly and 100% GENTLEMAN and at the end of the day he thanked me for my time.
72 now - age, not golf score! Gary Player is inspiring for older golfers and although I could never get to his level of fitness (nor golf ability) it might be time to take care to follow some of his fitness advice, golf tips and general life thoughts. Great to see him so active at nearly 90 and hope he will indeed break 100 - that's break through the age line. I'm sure he'll always beat his age on the golf course every time he plays. What a game we all enjoy and how well served we have been served by the stars of our sport over the years. What a thoroughly enjoyable half hour this video has been. Please repeat another time soon. Half an hour with golf chat and questions is immensely welcome. BTW I was given a golf glove by Gary Player during filming of the Big 3 golf at St Andrews back in the mid60s - he recognised that I'd been at Carnoustie the previous day. He called Arnold Palmer over and he gave me a golf ball.
Gary Player is great. It's always great to see people who have accomplished so much be so nice and humble - and funny! A lot of that has to do with his generation. "The greatest gift to any person is adversity." Wow, so true. We learn so much and achieve so much from going through adversity. I agree with him, I'm an American and to me The Open is the best major. That area is the birthplace of golf and I believe the best test of one's all around game. I love watching it every year.
Really enjoyed Gary on the show. I love to hear him talk. He’s a gentleman, legend, and roll model. I’ve watched him for years and he’s also a fierce competitor. Cheers 👍
Met Gary a number of years ago at a Johnny Miller champions challenge. Ran into him after most everyone had gone home and he came right over, chatted with me, signed my program and was really in no hurry to be somewhere else. What a treat. Great guy, fabulous emissary for golf and genuinely likes people. And always a positive attitude. Great interview.
Player is a great man. I met him a couple of times and even played 2 holes with him 15 years ago. Very friendly and signed our picture together. Truly a Golfing Gentleman.
A day you'll never forget you lucky boy. Gary is an absolute gentleman and while long in years is still young at heart and an inspiration to all us ageing golfers. He played our links in Tralee last year where I had the pleasure of meeting him and those of us that saw him on the range and on the course were left awestruck. On the first tee he said the golf swing was "all in the hips" and proceeded to spank his drive 200 yds + down the fairway into a draught. Great video !!!!
A brilliant, unique individual and one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game, l was fortunate enough to spend the day with him 25 years ago the day after he won his 3rd Senior British Open at the age of 63, a truly amazing human being x
Andy , what a wonderful video. You are a lucky man to spend such a special, personal time with one of the legends of the game. Gary really is a philosopher as well as a great golfer. He reminds us that golf is quite a simple game if you have a clear mindset. Fabulous. 👍
You lucky lucky man, he is one THE greats of our game. 9 majors proves that and when you know the people he played with proves his quality. Palmer, Nicklaus, Trevino, Watson to name 4. When I 1st tried golf in the 70’s he was one of the stars then and had to battle to overcome adversity, I read his autobiography years ago and even then he would not ease in the daily fitness regime to allow him to compete at the top. He is one of the people who I would love to meet and shaken hands with. My dad had a small paperback which was a collection of Gary PLayer golf tip strips that used to be in the express/Sunday express the number of times I read that. Loved this, keep your head down 😁
Got to See Gary, Jack, Lee, Tom and Anika chop it around in Houston this year. Player is amazing. I regret not walking up to him and gifting him a Black Golf Ball. He is truly amazing.
Just the most wonderful video you've made Andy. Love all your stuff, but your interaction with this awesome human being will be with me for a long time. It was more than lessons in golf (Which we love), it was, more importantly, lessons in life. I say 'The king is alive, long live the king'.
What a special video Andy. Loved the pearls of wisdom that Gary Player sprinkled throughout this episode and so pleased for you that the business relationships you have developed are leading to these fabulous opportunities. Keep up the great work.
What a great video with Gary Player. Too bad you could not play more holes with him Andy. He is a very passionnate man with an increadible history. Thanks for this.
Gary was my inspiration as a young golfer, and it’s great to see he still has it. Talks the talk and can still walk the walk, literally. Fantastic episode, Andy, thank-you.🫡
Wow what a video. Mr. Nicklaus has always been my favorite, bur Mr. Player was my second. So much knowledge on how to play the game. And to play as good as he does at his age is amazing. Thanks Andy and Gary for the video.
Have a few memories (and autographs) of Gary. followed him round at both PGA tour and Senior tour events. A member of the most elite group of 5 to win all 4 majors. Must've been a great day on the course and looks like you virtually had the course to yourselves which is always special. Great memories of Dornoch, Cruden bay, N. Berwick, Carnoustie from decades back when they were very affordable (St. Andrews was about $25 then!). Having to use driver on a par 3 (and not reaching the green) is quite something, much like Troon this year...
What a surprise! Gary Player is remarkable, won The Open in 3 different decades and still playing a decent game 50 years on since his last Open win. A day for you and subscribers to remember
Wow Andy, what a great video! That man is pure legend! To be that clear of thought, that articulate, that agile at 88!😮 He is honest and a gentleman as well. I hope he lives to see his 100th. What a great day for you Andy thanks for sharing with us. Long live the Black Knight!
My friend of mine had Gary stay with him in BROXBOURNE UK. HE used to run up and down his stairs to stay fit. You can ask him. My friend name was BRIDGEMAN. He and his wife and me and my wife married on the same day and witnessed each others marriage. I watched Gary at ROYAL Saint Georges in 1976 on the Golf range and it was an education as to how good that man could strike a golf ball. Nothing like the ugly looking swings that won him titles at times as seen on TV. Obviously method behind those swings. ABSOLUTELY silky smooth. What a player was Player in the professional ranks.. LOVE HIM my friend did.
I had to add another comment. I've been confused with my take away for a long time now. After watching you and Gary, I went to the simulator and tried to apply what I learned. It finally makes sense. I get it. So thanks Andy. 👍
Only one thing could top Andy and Gary walking the course, and that would be Arnie and Gary walking the course. Congratulations on the experience of a lifetime, Andy
Hello Andy, I said hello to you a few weeks ago at Cheshire Oaks designer outlet and said I love the videos and to keep em coming! Wow! You didn’t disappoint! What a guest to have on your channel! An absolute golf legend! Love the videos, keep them coming mate! It would be great to see you at Carden Park again! It’s my home club and a great place! Love the video as usual! Hope to see you soon mate! 👍👍⛳️⛳️
Andy, I truly enjoyed this video. Very goOD questions you asked. What a day at the golf course. I am playing PXG irons for the past six months because of you. The irons are really good. Thanks
Brilliant Vid Andy. What an experience that must have been just the 2 of yous wandering the course. Gary giving you stick about your 7 handicap was good😂
What a man and what a video Andy !!! Must have been a great day with him 😅 could listen to his story’s all day and how many shots could he take off your score if he walked round with you all day 😊

I thought you meant you regularly met him.

Brilliant Andy, many thanks to PXG and Gary for making this happen.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very enjoyable to watch. I could listen to him talk about golf all day! Andy, your pleasant demeanor is a perfect match for talking with him.
Much appreciated

Gary Player is a LEGEND..... I've watched this video more than 54 times now and I learn something new every time !!!
That was the best golf UA-cam video I have ever seen. Mr. Player gave me golf tips and life tips. Doesn’t get any better than that.

Player is a consummate pro and gentleman; just uncommon sense in a maniacal world. His stories are other worldly.
Not using a buggy has to be good fitness! 😊. Keep on slugging Gary, what a Player! ❤
