Come into THE CIRCLE - feat. JAN-PHILIPP WIESMANN on drums

This is a first small excerpt from my new album "CIRCLE" (will be released in a few weeks ...). The song is called "Friends".
Jani was recommended to me by Ben Jud during the recordings of my first album. Although we have found some cross connections through the esteemed ex-colleagues of Bauer Studios, I didn't know him. And if truth be told, I don't really know him now either, as we've met in person exactly once - after a concert by Ben at the Theaterhaus. And we both agree that we have to change that. Because on the musical level, it felt to me like he already knows me VERY well ...
Programming drums and using detailed samples allows for precise sketches. Then during the layout phase, there is often the point where you are very happy with it as a producer. Exactly until you get the recorded versions from someone like Jani. After that, you realize that GROOVE comes from people, and that all the subtleties of playing, the minimal shifts to the sometimes seemingly overpowering rigid time signature - in summary, the musicality of a recording - cannot be replaced by anything.
What I appreciate about Jani is that he always finds just the right balance between preserving the ideas of the layouts and his independent creative expansion, which for me is a tremendous enrichment of the music.

PS: Nice that I could challenge you a bit with the interplay of 7/8 and 8/8 on the song "Circle" ... ;-)
