Culturally, 🦒🦒 have been regarded as a symbol of beauty or elegance here in Tanzania 🇹🇿, often appreciated by their long neck and the way they move.
I still think of them as ART!! They are so Beautiful!!!
mariej :: It was stupid of me to think I was the only one who liked to watch them walk. Incredibly majestic.
How do you have internet
@@JustTyFr open up your mind, it will widen the horizon of your knowldege
I wonder if they’re often struck by lightning being the tallest thing around.
I've always loved giraffes, and found them to be so fascinating and beautiful. I had no idea their extinction number was at 80%. Thank God for these dedicated researchers and native peoples, who value and understand the fragility of these magnificently unique animals. Wish I had their eyelashes. :-) Terrific video; tku, PBS.
Find GCF - Giraffe Conservation Foundation - subscribe for amazing news of their work across Africa..:-).
And elephant eyelashes, too. Creation is amazing. :-)
Wow beautiful creations of God thank you for your love of animals, planting more trees plants and fruits also ❤❤❤🕊🌎
I love giraffes! We need to save them at all costs. Thank you for the video!
Don't have any children for starters.
I absolutely agree with you 💯 percent correct 🥰
Early on in chiropractic school, a teacher had us guess how many vertebrae were in a giraffe's neck. The answer was, "Seven... same as in a human." Years later, I attended an evening in non-violent communication. Two therapists sat side by side, each holding a large, cuddly-looking toy giraffe on their laps.
One therapist explained that, of all the earth's land animals, giraffes had the biggest hearts, and urged us to follow their lead. 😉
Giraffes are so cool & so cute. When i was little, we went to a zoo & a giraffe chewed up my little purse. I wasn't even upset; it was so cool to be up close to such a magnificent animal. To this day, i still love them! Thk u to those saving them. 🦒🥰
Not one ad.. Thank you PBS
Finally!!
I've wondered for years Why we hear so little about one of the rarest and biologically unique animals on our earth! They are so interesting, that I find it incredible and almost offensive that there's been so little knowledge and studies on their species.
Thanks to the few that Have cared enough to do something about it!!
Who doesn't Love giraffes?!
Thank you! ❤️🦒❤️🦒

True
Giraffes are my favorite animal on earth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally found a video that’s up-to-date and has lots of information about giraffes. They are such beautiful and amazing creatures. I’ve been wanting to study them for a while and I was not able to find a good video until now.
Lots more info in books.
wow i never knew there were nine subspecies of girrafes
Me either. I knew of only 2!!😮
Africa is such a beautiful place that’s culturally rich, and has a great diversity of animal&plant life. I sure hope this continent doesn’t loose its’ wildlife charm!
And people
An extraordinary documentary on giraffes. Congratulations to all the team. ❤❤❤
There's an amazing scene of two giraffe bulls "necking" in one of the BBC Planet Earth series (narrated by the great David Attenborough!). One of them got slammed so hard that he just toppled over, and his head hit the ground so hard you could hear the impact (they kind of showed his fall in slo-mo). He didn't move for a minute or two (I thought he might be dead), but then suddenly he raised his head, got up on his feet, and walked off as if nothing had happened! It was incredible🦒
Giraffes are indeed fascinating and totally unique unlike any other herbivore species.
Another beautiful documentary. Again you delivered very powerful viewing. Beautifully delivered stories about yet another on the brink of extinction species. It is so heart breaking. We are really losing it all....all the Natures gifts....I hope more ppl will become involved in spreading the message to gain more support for these absolutely amazing creatures...Africa would never be the same if they disappeared forever...
I really like this series. I like that it showcases the scientists studying the animals along with the animals themselves, it does not use strange gimmicks like to make them seem like exciting monsters and thing like Nat Geo has been putting out lately. I like that it is also showing animal human conflicts in a complex light. As someone who has lived in rural Africa this feels fair.
RE National Geographic
They are owned by Disney now, if that explains anything...
I have cancelled my subscription after MANY years of happy reading.
@amybettencourt3404 my family's done the same 😥 it's very sad, I grew up LOVING National Geographic
Any alternatives you can recommend?
From 2015, terrific documentary with moving, fascinating giraffe behaviors. 💓
Respect & admiration for conservationists & villagers working so hard to save them.🦒💫
Paz y luz 🦒🌍🦒💙🙏
I’ve always been fascinated with giraffes. I’m so very happy to hear they’re now on the radar.
The animal life on this planet Earth is wondrous. Cherish and protect it at all cost. Animals are us. Just in different shape and form.
There’s an enormous outdoor zoo in the south that you can drive hours through. With my window down, a giraffe stuck his whole head in looking for treats. My hand was full of them so he wrapped his tongue several times around my forearm and grabbed them from my hand as he pulled back. His tongue was black, dry, and felt like sand paper. It was amazing
i love kenya am a kenyan come and see this huge animals
Long neck = long vocal chords? And the fact that giraffes have survived in a continent with fierce predators as relatively slow-moving giants in small groups is impressive.
Great video ! and thanks to highlight this concern regarding these beautiful creature the giraffe 🦒The communities must understand how valuable these creatures are for nature but also for the tourists industry, I am sure most people want to see these beautiful creatures 👌🏿so let’s do whatever we can to safe the giraffes 😊
At 33, minutes, whose Giraffes? Oh my goodness me.
I Love Learning. Thanks for sharing, shared.
Giraffes is the most iconic and ideomatic symbol of diversity.
I hope they don’t go extinct - they are such beautiful, gentle, elegant creatures
giraffes are so considerate of others, even humans
Fascinating giraffe research, beautiful, native peoples' attire, and I love the narrator's voice. Thank you for the free documentary, PBS!
Awesome video🥰 Much respect to all involved, especially the giraffes.

This was wonderful giraffes are on my favs list. I don't think people are aware of this. blessings on you all and these amazing critters
His face when giving the ultrasound 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anyone else start singing "John Jacob Jingle-Heimer Schmidt, that's my name too!" ??? NO? Just me, okay, lol! 🤣
What a wonderful Research documentary! There is a long love for wildlife and African Wildlife within me and I was fascinated about their communications. I do hope there are some breakthroughs for their communicating.
😂 that is a bizarre song this generation won't know 😂
This is my most favorite giraffe documentary so far
What do you call a journey of giraffes in the middle of the road? A giraffe can jam! Credit to Nathan at Jabulani Lodge!
They are beautiful animals. Very elegant!! Need more documentaries about these animals!!
Yes!! More awareness needs to be shared to save these beauties from the “silent extinction” as its being called. They are vital as one of earth’s keystone species ❤️🦒
So lucky to be able to go to Africa then.
The wildlife is few and far between now.
Lions and Hyena know that one swift kick can cripple or kill them
I loved how everyone allowed themselves to let their emotions show, and I also noticed the genuine smiles of the researchers.
I adore Giraffes so very much ,always have and I've learned things here that I never knew about them .They're so unique and beautiful and so sweet and funny and it breaks my heart everyday that their numbers r dwindling so much and I pray that We will always have them on this planet and other animals too like Elephants but if We don't change so much of the behavior thats causes so many animals to be wiped out ,I don't know what the future holds .Thank God for people like these scientists and biologists that r doing to real work to keep them here .
Giraffes are such interesting animals that's why they are my favorite animal in the world!!!
Fantastic documentary! These researchers do extraordinary work, which shows us that there is much more to giraffes than we have known. It was fascinating to learn more about social behavior of giraffe.
I’m an animal lover but a giraffe enthusiast 🦒🦒
What an incredible film on giraffes! They have been some of my favourite animals for a very long time! Thank you David Suzuki for narrating this amazing film concerning biological research studies on giraffes. 🌳🦒
So beautiful with all ! We all thank you for your great work and love for the beautiful beings!
Beautiful documentary. I always loved giraffes but even more now. Thank you.
Fantastic !!!! Beautiful beings. We must save them💗

I always loved nature and wild animals all my life,I have a daughter 22 year's old giraffes 🦒🦒 are her favorite animals and 18 years we always traveling around visiting zoo's recently,we just went to riverbanks zoo too hand feed them,it was great feeling ☺️
Emily Blunt would be an awesome narrator for a giraffe documentary ...
They are soo cute!
Beautiful Giraffe 🦒🦒🦒 guys 👏🥰
love giraffes
PBS is such a great channel
Naming the giraffes after local people to improve stake in the program is a stroke of genius.
Givum some habitat god damn it. So this beatuful beast can live and be a giraffe...
Thanku for all the wonderful work toward these beautiful animals. ❤❤
Great study! Your making history for these magnificent animals! Be safe!
Amazing, I had no idea these gorgeous animals were struggling in numbers for survival😲
Hope this changes...Thank you for sharing,...Very educational🦒
Ok Kim ,did you have any idea there's three types of these gorgeous animals?
I thought he said there are 9 sub speices of giraffes??
Yes they’re a vital keystone species and are facing what many are calling a silent extinction so the more awareness that can be brought to these animals the better. Giraffe are truly incredible and every tower(what a group of giraffe are called) is important 🦒❤️
This was fascinating!!!
❤awesome creations. I Love Giraffes. UNIQUENESS !
what a fascinating documentary...well done.
Thank you for this awesome documentary.
I'm fascinated about giraffes and wrote a short story about them! Thanks Nat Geo for sharing these beautiful videos
This was courtesy of PBS, not Nat Geo (they're both great, but credit where credit is due!)
I love giraffes and elephants. Such beautiful, majestic creatures.
Excellent video, very informative. Thank you
Fantastic documentary! I like the title because I, even as a retired science teacher, do not think about giraffes when thinking about wild animals in Africa. They are the forgotten animal. This documentary answered questions about giraffes that I hadn't even thought of! I now raise goats (Kikos), but I never thought about how many stomachs a giraffe would have. It is absolutely fascinating. Thank you for so much information.
ambition , smiles , doesnt equal care .care comes from an uncontaminated heart
My favorite animals 😍
Gosh this is so good...
Wonderful, if I didn't watch this episode I'd be left with remote information about Giraffes; I love their genetic patterns, posture as if they walk around with no care in the world even when lions or threats are relatively close, and ultimately because they are mammals which tend to be more attached to their offsprings.. Thanks for sharing your data, and Sanburu's community becuase mainly Giraffes belong to them.. Incredible culture, energy and documentary!

Grifaffs are just fascinating I love them they are a beautiful animal from God❤❤❤❤
Such lovely, graceful animals. Watching them prepare to drink is exceptionally beautiful. What a wonderful documentary.
Thank you for this video 📸
Please help and protect them all before it's too late..!!!🙏🙏🙏
The part where the guys were recording and replaying infrasounds reminded me of skin walkers, only this time the humans are the skin walkers.
Great documentary. And agree it's sad that some animals always seem overcooked despite dire circumstances...pangolins is another example. One of the least known but most trafficked. The state of our planet, wildlife, habitat...is really worrying. I hope we realise we must change. We cannot allow our planet and all its beautiful life to be ruined because we think we can keep business as usual going.
I saw a really shocking photo of a fishing boat that was smuggling pangolin scales, abt 2 tons were on the deck/in the hold. When you consider how light pangolin scales are, since they're made of keratin, it was mind-blowing to think abt how many dead pangolins were represented by 2 tons of their scales. It was really pathetic and disgusting. Sorry, but traditional Asian medicine is really terrible, even if it is a cultural tradition. Much of it is baseless, ineffective, and downright dangerous, and it decimates/abuses the animals it uses.
Good job 👍GOD BLESS
They're such beautiful and fascinating creatures.❤
Giraffes are absolutely stunning magnificent creatures. Love love. Love them they are beautiful! Thank you for sharing this video of their lives and getting to see them in their habitat ❤
What a beautiful loving people.
Wow! Beautiful creatures….. they grieve about offspring just like humans! Truly, every animal and the nature around us so unique and All is due to Wisdom of an intelligent Designer, God!
Thank you so much for educating us….. so grateful for your passion!
It Amazes me that you didn't mention how the tree produces a taste after the animals have been eating it for a certain amount of time. Natures little defense programs lol
Nature is amazing!
They are sweetest and they should be saved in a big way
Thank you for this wonderful look into giraffes lives. ❤
Having had many pets, I naturally assume that any animal grieves. The unusual thing is to see one who doesn't. But, of course, even then we don't really know gow the creaturw feels.
hope these beautiful animals can be saved from their dwindling numbers.
WOW just, so wonderful great work thank you.
A little surprised, after all this time, no mention of being ‘territorial’(or not). Looking to get a ‘half-sleeve’ giraffe tatoo. Haven’t found the right artist, yet. ❤️
great documentary 👍
This is amazing information! Amazing work those who work and been part of this project! Giraffes sound more awesome the more we learn about these beautiful animals. I am so happy there is a team and so forth working together to help these beautiful animals. And of course getting the information about them and ridding misinformation with true information about these animals is highly important! These animals are amazing and really beautiful special animals. :D Amazing documentary.
I love their faces and LONG eyelashes !!!!!
❤❤They are so loving ,care for each other and amazing taking care of the Babies!❤❤
I believe now that Lions have discovered that they can in numbers take down a Giraffe how much is that contributing to the decline in numbers in these fascinating animals ?
This is a wonderful documentary honoring and educating us on these amazing and beautiful girraffe’s. Thank you
I love watching documentaries about various animals and this is the first one I've seen about Giraffes. This documentary was really enjoyable and I learned more about Giraffes in 50 minutes than my previous 62 years.
We always hear here and there about these gentle giants, but it never really occured to me to learn more about them.
thats so beautiful.
