Clearly a lot of people people paused the video and ran to the website to by those enhancement masks like me, they were on back order on the site. Made me smile, love to see him getting so much business and love.
Working on an Enterprise refit wearing an Ewok Endor T-shirt, cheers to fans of both of the franchises! I never got the conflict that was made between the two. I grew up on both and love both for the positive hope each gave the viewer.
Thanks for an entertaining and educational video Phil. Great to see you and Lou in the same workshop together. I look forward to the concluding part of this build. I’ve had the kit in my stash for some years now, but this has certainly inspired me to make a start on it!
Oh what fun it was to watch you two work on this. Some funny moments as well. That would be me who talked to Mark about the impulse engine part. After watching your video (not sure what episode that was now), I was a bit frustrated myself because I had purchased the same piece from shapeways also. I got in touch with Mark and even linked your video for him to see that others were upset about the fit as well. He was very kind and very helpful. He sent me a replacement part as well. I'm glad to know he took care of you also on that. Because the part is very impressive to look at. I'm looking forward to the next part, and to bad Lou couldn't be there for the rest of it because it was very entertaining watching you two work together on it. Thanks Phil. Hope you and Kathy are both doing well.
lol How cool to have you both together on this channel! I follow Not only yourselves but alao Wayne over at World of Wayne! Always good fun to watch you guys!
This was so Cool Phil . This also explains why Lou didn't have a new Video up Friday night 😆. Phil another good tip for painting is, Once the plastic has been initially washed , I never handle the plastic with my bare hands . I use Nitrile gloves . This keeps the oils in your skin off of the surface. This is especially important when doing Metallic paint work . I do this just during the painting process .
You are off to a great start on the saucer Phil, the color shifting paint you are using really blends nicely with your base hull color. Having Lou being there and helping you with this build is the icing on the starship cake. Looking forward to the next installment.
I used Lou's masks for my 1/537 scale Enterprise using acrylic shimmering inks and it turned out perfectly. I had never done anything like this before, but with Lou's video's and being very patient you can do it. It took me almost 3 months to do it but it was worth the wait. Painting the Enterprise with the color shifting paints is the only right way to finish the Enterprise.
Methinks two old modellers might have had too much fun shooting the breeze about the hobby to do much modelling? 😉 Great to see Lou as obviously there was no video from him this week. I'll be interested to see how the saucer looks as to me it seemed that your blending coat was going on a bit thick but it could well be a trick of the camera. Those colour shift paints look amazing! Been away on holiday for a week but this video has got me itching to get back home and into the hobby shed. Really looking forward to the "Phil chats to... Lou Dalmaso" video - it could start a whole new sub-channel! 😂
Considering how far out of his comfort zone Lou is he sure looks comfortable. I am envious gents! I'll just have to bide my time... bide my time... As many times as I see these Azteks go down, it seems quicker than expected. It's a shame I don't plan to make a Refit kit. But if I were to, there would be no choice. One must use the Aztek Dummy kit(s)!
I watched a video ages ago and it was about the paint of the movie refit. It’s difficult to see the paint shift on screen. Even the pearlescent paint doesn’t show that well. What a shame! I can’t wait to your model is done.
Really enjoyed that Phil, you and Lou had me laughing out loud so I can forgive you for hijacking my Saturday morning viewing this weekend. I'm very much looking forward to part two and your chat vid. Q. If he's Lou does that make you Bud then? Thanks for taking the time and sharing.
@sprueVerse as the "dumbest modeling channel on UA-cam " I think I hold the title of "if I can anyone can" so I hope I am at least at your level of skill....hint....that's a longshot...LOL
It's great to see the two of you together, I ENJOYED IT!!!😁 Phil, what is the jig that you have the secondary hull sitting in? Something that you made or re-purposed?
I just purchased the K-Cruiser masks and looking forward to trying to use them. As for the Re-Fit masks when I search at Cult TV Man I found a few. What is the ultimate mask set for that kit?
Vallejo model air - lightest blue 71.008, darkest blue 71.087 - your looking at paint that has a gloss coat of Mr. color to protect it from chips and nicks while I work. It will have a Matt coat for final, final paint finish.
hi phil great video. what is the camera system you use, looks like it could be very useful to someone like myself that dosent have alot of time for editing
Hi John, I created this system to make editing fast and streamlined. I use 6 cameras all with clean video out that are plugged into a ATEM mini extreme switcher. I record directly to a external hard drive. If you need any additional help drop me a line at sprueverse@gmail.com and I’ll be glad to offer any assistance.
@@sprueVerse hi phil thank you for the reply, ive just been looking at your syetem, and with the 6 black magic camera, it looks fantastic, im pricing the system at around $7000+, i best start saving because it would save me alot of time, time i could spend enjoying what i like doing the most. building models, and not editing.

Incredible seeing two major stars together in the modeling universe!! The two of you are just so awesome!! Thank you for a great video Phil!!
This was the masterclass we needed to see by two of the best scale modeling content creators on earth. Thanks to you and Lou for this.

The best Information for the big E! Thank you guys so much for this!
I got so much out of this. Thank you both. Yes,!plasters should be in every model builders toolbox lol

Model making videos at their finest!

Great episode Phil, I'll need to get Lou to Atlanta since I am terrified of painting the Aztecs', enjoying the build!
It’s actually fun and quite logical. I felt exactly the way you do but I promise it can be done! If I can do it anyone can!🖖

it looked like just an odd piece of foam to me
Lou is correct it’s just an off cut of some packing foam. I have a small collection just for Star ships!
I just purchased the K-Cruiser masks and looking forward to trying to use them. As for the Re-Fit masks when I search at Cult TV Man I found a few. What is the ultimate mask set for that kit?
There are two sets for the ultimate masking version - the enhancer set and the 1:350 refit set.
Are the masks you are showing are they just for the saucer section? I would need to know what other masks would be required for the rest of the ship?
Everything you need is in the 1:350 refit set - we started with the enhancer set but it’s not necessary.
@@sprueVerse thanks Phil. If and when I get this done I will have to send you a pic
Curious what blue colors you used for your AB deck? They look a lot better than what is in the updated TrekModelers paint guide!

I'm interested in trying to do this astaking paint, on a 1/1000 scale. Do you think this is possible?
Yes it is! There are a few masking sets out there for 1/1000. Enjoy!
It's ok to scream like a little school boy in a candy store.
When you buy the mask kit it don't come with this? Don't understand why it wouldnt? They don't even show an enhancement kit availible
I promise you CultTVman has both sets. If you are having trouble let me know!
