You really did a beautiful job on this kit. I love the paint work and the decals look really really nice. Thank you very much for the compliment on the board. You are the first on to use it in a kit so we get to really see it working which is awesome! As always an inspirational build :)
I like seeing the under part of the top half, with that dark circle with the windows, and then the flashing light on the bottom pontoon, as I would call it. Looks really cool.
Awesome build I'm currently working on one right now. I bought two of them the first one I'm concentrating on painting in the second one I'm going to be lighting it up
Another beauty. I thought a great diorama would be the Pegasus half emerged in an asteroid as shown in an episode of Star Trek TNG. Thanx for sharing, love the paint job and lighting.
Looks great Boyd! I built the 1/1000 version with the Klingon Bird of Prey, and lit the BoP. Looking forward to building this one! Happy days and model on! 😎
As a model builder myself, I found that this ship waas the most troubleso e to paint and light! But my 2nd attempt was satisfactory! I lighted the warp nacelles with blue led strips!
Beautiful work! Thank you for this series. Just finished my 1:350 "Copernicus." Seeing your process and choices was very helpful! If I tackled this again, might add a couple more strategies for light-blocking those clear nav blocks on the upper deck--but your fiber-optic solution leaves little to chance and looks great!
Really love the almost cyan color on the nacelles. I also just realised the Grissom has something in common with the Enterprise F. This was the first ship to feature a double neck.
Your models are always gorgeous. I would love to be half as good as you. I'm working on my 4th model now and having a blast, but unfortunately may have to take a long break from modeling. My being on disability mixed with this economy is not mixing well with my new hobby. I will continue watching and learning from you great builders though.
Good luck, brother! We're all suffering thru this horrendous economy, but those such as yourself being on a fixed income, are really going to be hurting! It's going to get to the point to where we have to ask ourselves, "Do I fill up the car this week, or do I buy groceries"? God bless you and everyone in this country, that we can weather this storm out.
Modeling used to be a good thing to be used to avoid the stresses of everyday life and economy issues. Hopefully it gets better after November, IF we can all make it that long. LET'S GO BRANDON! 🇺🇸👍🏻😎👍🏻🇺🇸
Very nice Boyd. I can say, this model has very straight lines, not much bending is required to apply the decals. I think a lot of these companies have trouble making decals for models with tight corners and divides, that create a lot of stress on the decals. I’m 51, I’ve been building for years. I can agree, that they don’t coat their decals properly, they are too thin sometimes, and if you need to add a decal softener to them, they fall apart. I make a lot of mine by myself, so I don’t have many problems with them.
Really nice, and you seem to knock these out so quickly. I agree with you on the saucer windows. They are a little “too much”. At the angle you were shooting they were also pretty bright. Maybe tone them down a little on the next one, unless you didn’t glue the saucer down, in which case you could do it on this one.
you never seen the movie era Tech manuals apparently Boyd there are several ships based just on the upper section of the class. one has a Reliant style torpedo pod located where the secondary hull is. the other is just the upper hull section. they both are called light and heavy class Corvettes. they also have several Tug designs based on the upper section as well. Very nice model as well as always.
Looks fantastic. Star Trek 3 was a very underrated film for the TOS crew but it had a lot of solid scenes. Christopher Lloyd really set the bar for what a Klingon commander is like and how they would act.
I totally agree, it's a great movie and has a lot of important pieces of Star Trek lore in the story. For me the original cast movies in order are: Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, Search For Spock, The Motion Picture,Voyage Home and The final Frontier.
Watching your videos has taken my love of scale military models and passion for Star Trek to begin building what has always been what I called "a foolish dream of mine" to reality. You have inspired me to build the 1/1400 scale Enterprise E. Do you guys have a forum or possibly a discord channel where you can discuss wiring? Again, thanks for the inspiration!
I did a vac-form version of this ship some years ago. Hard work but came out OK. She came out as the USS Bonestell, in deference to the artist Chesley Bonestell. I probably need to build this one by way of comparison.
I also got everything to build the refit but still collecting dust. I will get to it. At the same time, both 1:1000 enterprise refit and reliant using stuff and themes from the 350.
Great Video Boyd. I believe it was Lou Delmaso from Aztec Dummy was the guy who complained about that front decal. He just built his and issues that you didn't have. I beleive he was building a test shot version of the kit. Looks great and plan to build one soon.
I believe that the test shot was actually a 1/35th lost in space chariot ( Lou KEPT mentioning test shot on that build ) his grissom was stock ( he was waiting for both the starship and hawk hence the chariot build ) and he mentioned that round 2/mpc were aware of the decal issue
Our decals are printed by cartograph for the armour model's there the best quality the decal sheets are stamped in the right bottom corner if from them so double check the decals as alot of companies now even airfix have stopped the in house decal printing and started using cartograph decals! Maybe Polar lights are doing the same it'll be on the box or the actual decal sheet airfix like to remove the name from the decal sheet but they have to have it by law on the Box but like miniart, meng, afv club, takom etc etc they all use these decal printers now there lovely it's like they manage it without the over lapping Carrier film so the things are harder now to silver on matt coats laying them down on paint works just as well with them!. The aztec aftermarket decals are cool for it!
Very nice build Boyd. Gettn ready to do my own. I still struggle a bit with the posts I use to mount them. I notice yours is unglued. Do you ever glue them to the ship itself?
Sometimes yes if it's not fitting well and too loose. I use CA glue so it's not permanent if I ever want to remove it later. I find that the plastic mounts they put in these newer kit's are not very strong so I usually beef them up on the inside with some epoxy and wood if needed.
Question: Could you use a left over shuttle bay from a same scale Enterprise as one of the hangers? And have you seen the 'Kelvin Timeline' version of the Oberth?
Hi Boyd...one other question for you. Looks like you did some seam work around the front of the saucer. Was that difficult to do? What is your favorite putty for those types of seams? Model turned out great
Hi Oggie, I prefer the perfect plastic putty that's water based. I put the putty on, let it dry and then take a damp rag to wipe away most of the excess and then final sand after that.
Enterprise to Capt. Esteban, pls Response, Grissom pls answer. A nice science Starship, they use the same Studio Model later in Star Trek TNG. Thanks alot for uploading. Best regards from Vienna, Austria 🇦🇹 🖖
Hi Boyd Alan sankus here what kind of wire. u use to hook up to power and the coolers to connect to the bord and lights on the ship. I have the hil bord as well
Too many windows? Never enough windows-- on such advanced space going vessels there should be loads of them, everyone fighting for more windows. Now, where the bunks are is another matter. But those scientists want to be able to look out. I also think about engineering... of course back in the day, it was hugely expensive to install lighting but I always thought there would be some windows on the pylons and nacelles. Even if only lit in red.
Thanks for everything Boyd...RIP my freind.
your skills are just awesome!
Good Lord that's awesome! HLI lighting kit looks fantastic as well. 🙂
Gotta say this does look quite cool with the blinking nav lights.
You always make these look real. Amazing.
Wonderful build!
Another home run! You are truly an artist!!
I'm only a minute in on this and WOW, the paint and decals look absolutely amazing
Nice sized kit. Well built. nice detail. Lighting turned out great. Thanks for sharing.
She turned out awesome, fantastic job Boyd.

Came out awesome, great work Boyd!
Once again Boyd, you hit it out of the park! Awesome build! I agree this design looks better the more I look at it.
Excellent work Boyd! You did an incredible job on putting it all together. Well done.
Fantastic job on this one.
I really enjoy your work Boyd. This turned out really nice. Excellent work, as usual.
Another incredible build! This turned out so good! I agree, the top part of the ship would make a cool looking ship on its own.
that’s a thing of beauty. Well done mate.
That's such a cute little ship. Great job Boyd.
Great build and paint job Boyd! Looks awesome and very clean! 👍 greetings from Belgium!
You could kitbash that. Your idea rocks!
I like seeing the under part of the top half, with that dark circle with the windows, and then the flashing light on the bottom pontoon, as I would call it. Looks really cool.
I like how you make it fly off at the end. AWESOME job!
Yet again, top notch Boyd 😃 Following this build series, I have no choice ...I gotta get one 😉
Boyd. I really like the colours you wound up with, whites and pastels just like the studio model. Well done!
Awesome build I'm currently working on one right now. I bought two of them the first one I'm concentrating on painting in the second one I'm going to be lighting it up

I love the Oberth. Thanks for the vid.

I'd love to see a detailed build series of the Enterprise Refit with the Mega Board, hope you decide to build it this Fall/Winter.

Damn looks great! All you need is for polar lights to release an inscale klingon bop.
Nice one Boyd!

omg this is so cool! I wish i had the patience for these. I just get mad and break things

I also had to use SMD's and to drill out a larger space to lay the SMD!

The aztec decals and the other sets from Bobmat 34 decals are avaliable and a few others I was just looking at them the other day 1.350
I ordered 3 of them and one will be Grissom other 2 kitbashes
The lit windows made the model .
Hey Boyd, is there any news on the Grissom aztec decals from HDA Modelworx yet? Amazing job on the model, as always!

Do you happen to have a website or anything with some of your tips and tricks?? 🤔
Hi Boyd Alan sankus here what kind of wire. u use to hook up to power and the coolers to connect to the bord and lights on the ship. I have the hil bord as well
Where did u get the lighting set..
buenos dias, algunos modelos los venden ?
I see what you're talking about blocking some windows. That would make it look lived in. Not everyone is in their quarters at the same time.
You mention using SMD instead of LED. What did you mean by that? Isn’t an SMD a type of LED?
Do you communicate with Aztec Dummy, because you both work on the same model at the same time it seems.
Just a coincidence, this is a new kit that a lot of people will be building now. Also the new 1:48 scale Hawk will be popular.
20:06 "They stole our designs"! cannon statement when a Enterprise crewman saw the BOP

That blue on the fantail looks like tape. It's kind of distracting.
oops this is Patrick S Dalton aka Jetdoc
Commanded by the weakest Captain in starfleet
hey Boyd could you send me a pm on facebook need help with a project
