This is awesome, GES needs to work with the founder to scale this around the country and also build capacity teachers in school. This is very inspiring. also business must work with nana to provide scholarships to families who may not be able to afford the cost to attend .
Many kids would benefit from this and perhaps also offer Teaching Assistants trained in Autism to work in local and private schools to prevent isolation, but rather inclusion.
As someone who has worked with young people with SEND for over 10 years, this makes me happy to see. I noticed on the sign that the centre uses ABA and became concerned (please research the history and foundations of that type of therapy), but as Nana showed the playroom I was a bit more relieved. I hope that they stay far away from traditional practices of ABA as they do not encourage skill development, but instead, just focus on getting rid of the "disruptive" behaviours that people don't like to see.
I’m dad of non verbal autistic child and thanks to the internet and as I drive kids with autism to school first thing released my daughter cover her ears when she got frustrated so I reported it to our GP and she got referral at age 2 and now she is doing well now. One thing I was told by one the kids I take to school said girls turns to hide their autism well or handle it better than boys
So happy for this in gh for children with special needs
