This is one of those rare albums where every song hits. It's widely regarded as their best output, coincidentally being their last album. When Cannons Fade if you do another!
Another vote for When Cannons Fade! Have absolutely loved Bolt Thrower ever since For Victory but for me Those Once Loyal is their best album, they definitely went out on a high!
I'm honestly going to listen to this album tomorrow as I own Realm of chaos but I just don't like it and end up not wanting to listen to Bolt Thrower as a band. But now that I hear these songs maybe I just heard the wrong album
Bolt Thrower is one of the most highly respected deathmetal bands of all time. Solid discography. Heavy grooves from start to finish. This is my favorite album by them. They were a band of the people. Always delivered the goods. Always.
Genuinely one of the two, maybe three death metal bands that you can wear their shirt to any show. Everyone who listens to heavy music knows they're goated.
I can still remember when Radio 1 DJ, John Peel (RIP) covered a lunchtime show where they'd usually play pop music. He played his usual eclectic mix of music, someone expecting to hear the likes of Spice Girls phoned up to complain, and he put on a Bolt Thrower song, dedicating it to them 😂
Bolt Thrower is my favorite band, this album grooves like crazy. For Victory is my favorite from them, it just has so many of their best riffs packed into one album. They have always been masters of the death metal riff.
Great reaction. Bolt Thrower came from the hardcore punk scene of late 80's England, which Influences their song structures and lyrics. They deff aren't the most technical but that's not really the point, one of death metals best for sure, chiming in for "For Victory" next by them just because it's a classic.
Bolt Thrower kicks ass, one of the few bands who did things their way. Never compromised their sound or style for commercial success or music industry bs. Nothing but love and respect for this band. Just a slight warning - they did found their style/sound in the third album. The first two are great, but more straight forward death metal. I'd suggest you check the from Warmaster onward, but the next one, called "The IV-th Crusade", is top tear.
I remember I started watching y’all’s channel when y’all first started and to see y’all cover one of my favorite bands of all time is AMAZING. Bolt Thrower is one of those few bands where every song hits. They stick to a formula, and make the sickest riffs to make that formula work. Cheers to you guys!!

Bolt Thrower is part of the old skool death metal elite. I suggest the reaction of their very badass song "This Time It's War" (1992). The entire discography of the band is excellent!
Really appreciate how you guys approach everything with an open mind about things. So at 5:29 when you mention how the vocals aren’t as in your face as most death metal bands- it’s because bolt thrower isn’t a death band. It’s falls under grindcore which was a huge music genre in the early to mid 90’s - which gets overlooked because of everything else that came out at that time. The subject matter is mostly about war and battles and they are really into warhammer and warhammer40k.(fantasy role playing games)
You should check out the band Memoriam, the new band with Bolt Thrower's vocalist. All band members are death metal OGs. Check out their song "Undefefeated". The definition of chugga-chugga riffing ;)
Those Once Loyal was the final release by Bolt Thrower before they disbanded, due to the death of their drummer. This album was considered as a return to form by many metal fans.
