  • Today we talk about how if you don't run an air filter on your carburetor you will lose power!
Running an air filter on your car rated vehicle will actually gain power because it isolates the air that the carburetor is pulling from slowing it down and allowing the air to be redirected into the carburetor through the boosters more easily and less turbulent.
Otherwise with the carburetor out in the open the top of the carburetor is a severely turbulent air flow does not flow through the boosters nicely and will give a shot a signal to the boosters reducing responsiveness and overall power because the fuel is not evenly being siphoned out of the field balls through the boosters at that point.
Engine masters and ‪@DavidVizard‬ are two sources I use to confirm what I explain in this video!
So if horsepower is what you want out of your muscle car hot rod then be sure to watch this video to find out just what kind of air Filter You should be Running to make the most power possible.

I can only go by improvements seen at the racetrack. Even removing my k and n air filter, I always have lowered my ET 04-.07 seconds in the 1/8th mile.

"Air has more structure than people think." Yes indeed.

Its not dyno proven.... More air, More fuel the air filter can restrict airflow and choke out the engine, Which in some cases if your running lean the engine will run better with restriction.

k&n makes a filter for the top of cleaner

The guy that ouns K@N filters does not run a filter on his daughters Stocker.....The filter is only there to stop turbulent air and debris from the carb.

    Great vjdeo

  • @alltherpm

Only people racing without a filter have deep pockets,i myself dont care of power loss from protection, no filter allows the horn of the carb to proform its polished opened duties,

I've been waiting for someone to talk about the characteristics of air (atmosphere) and how it really gets into the cylinders. I run a 650 double pumper carb and wouldn't trade it for a larger one ( I made that mistake once, thanks a lot Jerry). 😊

How did you mount your velocity stack to the base good video thanks for sharing

  • @UsefulEntertainment

so what is your thoughts on running a carb hat and a cone filter on the outside of the engine compartment???

  • @drcracinggarage8047

    😂😂😂

  • @OVERKILL_SS

Stuff like this makes me cant wait to have me a performance shop and a dyno to test on all day and call it "work" 😆 i have a few ideas to derect better! But i wana test em on dyno then ill post videos on it!
