Bonsoir, j’ai vraiment apprécié votre tutoriel, car il m’arrive parfois, souvent de défaire un tricot et j’étais embêtée avec le fil frisé! Je vais donc utiliser votre méthode à l’avenir. Merci!

I have been using this method with great results, however I skip the first step of wrapping the unraveled yarn into a ball and go directly to skein (either on the back of a chair or swift).

Sometimes I wind direct to the swift and sometimes I make a ball first. Depends on whether the moon is in Jupiter or not 😉😁

I have done this before but didn’t add soap. What is the purpose of the soap? Do you not have to rinse it out?

You can absolutely skip the wool wash, but if your goal is to refresh the yarn completely, it helps 😊 Wool wash like Soak or Eucalan isn't really "soap" (no, it doesn't need to be rinsed out) and it serves a couple purposes. First, it will clean and freshen the yarn - this is particularly important if you're frogging a project that's been sitting around for quite awhile. Second, the ingredients (like lanolin) in good wool washes will "condition" the yarn to help restore its original touchability. And last, if you're okay with scented versions, it makes it smell all good😀

Hi Nicole, Great tutorial! I have used this method several times with wool yarn and it works really well. However, linen yarn is another thing completely, and frogged linen doesn't uncrimp nearly as well with this method. Do you have any suggestions for smoothing out a plant based fiber yarn? Thanks, and cheers!

Thanks! You’re right, certain plant based fibres can be stubborn. I will sometimes put a weight inside the bottom of the hank of washed yarn as it dries on the hanger. I find cans of food work well for this. Alternatively, if it’s already dry and still not smooth, linen can be steamed to relax the fibres. 😊

@@Knicoleknits Thanks for the suggestions! I would not have thought about putting a can of food inside the bottom of the hank, but I see that it would probably help. Cheers!
