Hi Fern, your ZZ Raven looked so healthy, it just needed a bit of water. It will take quite a while to grow the rhizom back. But you can put the rhizom that you just cut off, in perlite as well. It will start to grow again;) Thanks for the video, loved it as always💚
I have a baby forgetii that blessed me with bigger leaves once I have it some chunky mix and out of spag. Can't wait for that sucka to grow huge. It's one of my fave anthurium
So happy to hear these routines have helped your mental health! I myself practice these, yoga , cold swims, breath work and it has such a huge impact. I have been practicing yoga daily for over 13 years and I absolutely don’t know where I’d be without it, truly makes my day Warmly, Ains
I’ve got 3 different setups for my zzs. I’ve got a massive one in a mix of equal parts coco coir, soil and pon and it’s a weed. I water it just a little bit every 10 days (and also have a small space with south facing windows). I have a baby raven zz in pon and it took a while to take off but now it’s growing really well. I have it without a reservoir and drench it every ten days. And another one in a chunky mix that hasn’t done anything for a year. It rotted at one point and regrew its roots but no other growth. I heard from another UA-camr that they like to stay more moist than people typically say and that’s been my experience too. I’m going to be moving the one in super chunky mix to one of the other mixes to see if it helps
I am so freaking enamored with your tortum. That repot was immaculate and the result is so scrumptious, I can't stand it. As to your ZZ, it will be ok. You can also prop them by single leaves, it just takes longer. This way, expect 6months or longer to see a developing rhizome. I'm a better part of a year into my journey, and we made it far enough to pot up, but nothing more. I actually water all my ZZ plants about every 2 weeks, but definitely at least once a month. Pretty sure I thought the exact same thing about that wrinkle rhizome, too 🤣🌰🥜 Also yes to yoga. It's something I struggle to get myself to do but when I do it, I'm always grateful for the time I gave myself. I've been watching Yoga with Kassandra here on YT and I find her very enjoyable and easy to follow along with, without having to watch her every move 👌
yoga!! yes girl, i started doing yoga as “exercise” about 5 years ago, and fell in love with all the other aspects of it. i took a 200 hour teacher training course- not because i wanted to be a teacher, but because i wanted to immerse myself in better understanding yoga. then i moved on to get my 500 hour. i still dont want to be a yoga teacher ☺️ but highly recommend learning as much as you can. i realized its not just exercise but its a complete blue print for how to be a person and live life fully. it has helped me IMMENSELY in my journey of healing, and is now the foundation to my mental health work. good on you ✊🏻
that is absolutely incredible to hear! and I don't doubt it for a second, after my practice yesterday I felt a sense of calm and contentment that I literally feel like I haven't felt for years. it was divine. I can't wait to learn more 💓 thanks for sharing!!
you can pot the rhizome (if its not rotten) of the zz raven just cut the dead roots it will grow into a new plant u can even propagate it from leaves..
Love to watch your reporting videos on Sunday mornings...Making coffee and cleaning up a bit my kitchen mess)) gives a good vibes for the rest of the day, thank You!
I'm glad you've changed your mind on Anthurium, I have as well! I've tried store varieties in the past and have never had good luck, but over the last year and a half I've gotten more into tropical houseplants, philodendron, etc so I decided to try Anthurium again. I started with an Anthurium crystallinum which hasn't done the best because of thrips, ugh, but the two growth points are still alive, have gorgeous roots, and I think I got the thrips under control with the help of Green Lacewings and Minute Pirate Bugs. A little after getting my A. crystallinum I was able to get a seedling A. warocqueanum. That was in December and I started her in a terrarium at 95% humidity and over the last few months I've slowly lowered the humidity until she was sitting out on my plant shelf in my bedroom, which I keep at 65-75% humidity at all times. Almost 4 months later and she's FINALLY given me a new leaf which she's expanding right now. Its already SO big, has the gorgeous veining Queen's are known for, and has a small lobes starting. Probably within the next few leaves she'll have some nice lobes hopefully. The third Anthurium I got was an A. magnificum I got 2 weeks ago, which is HUGE and currently pushing out another big leaf. That one is just in a clear deli cup with sphagnum which I don't mind as I've been able to watch the crazy root growth over the last couple weeks. I'm still figuring out the genus and their quirks but they've been so fun, and I'm glad you're enjoying them too!!
Hi Fern, I am glad you get into yoga. I have in common with you the passion for plants/nature and veganism. I appreciate your chill vibes, thanks a lot for your videos, it is very relaxing to watch them. I do yoga everyday since 3 years, it is a normal thing in my routine now. Another of my passion is climbing, it is a very complete sport and also helps to be more confident. Great Sunday (or day/night) to all reading this 😉
I propagated a zz in perlite/water and I even propagated leaf cuttings and they all have roots and are still alive! I will say it takes even longer for new growth to come after propagating (in my experience). Its been almost a year and I just got 2 new leafs :'). But if you eventually wanted a more full plant you could chop it up even more!
I love your repot videos! Also, it’s so cool that you’re learning Spanish! Spanish is actually my first language and I can tell that you’re doing pretty good already. Just be patient and take things slowly. Keep up the great work!
Fun fact: I have a regular zz and two zz ravens, all three bought in different times and somehow they grow stocks at the same time! each time it blows my mind. by the way, I think the rhizome and the roots looked healthy, it just needed water. I propagated successfully a regular zz by stock cutting and leaf cutting so I'm confident that your zz is gonna be fine. I'm sending positive vibes from Italy!
As a yoga instructor, I’m so happy to hear you’re loving and benefiting from the practice! having a daily practice has also done wonders for my mental health..just having time to be present is so clearing for the mind
Highly recommended using hydroponic nutrients in the water for the raven zz mine use to take months and months to pop a couple little roots now I have a decent looking set of roots and patato after a month or two 🙂
Loved the video. Very relaxing watching repotting. Good thing you saw what was happening to your ZZ. I hope it roots for you. Loved seeing your little dog. He or she didn’t look too thrilled with what you were doing. 🤣
Hi! I started yoga for 2022 for many reasons, mainly to support my physical health as I'm in my 50's. I absolutely love it. It's hard, but so worth the challenge.
I love yoga, but fell off of it a few months ago. I feel great when I do it but I need to prioritize it more. Also the terracotta pot for the tortum is weathered perfectly, it looks so cool.
Hi Fern, I enjoy watching your channel. l propagated zz raven a couple yrs ago. I put my zz outside in the spring since they grow so slow. They sent new shoots right away. Water almost every day, they get dry fast outside. Good luck with yours!🌱
Love these chatty repots video’s! I’m really into yoga as well, I enjoy Yoga with Adriene and if I feel like I need a little push back into it then the 30 days of yoga series are really great😊
I propagated my regular zz in perlite too and now it’s doing great back in soil! It did take a while, like a couple months, but it’s been healthy ever since
I love your re-potting videos. I have seen YT videos that show you can cut the leaves off of the ZZ and just plant them. Might be worth checking out if the stock doesn’t do well.
I can definitely relate to the rental environment upgrade situation lol. To the point where most of my apartments have been in design flux the entire time I lived there 🤦🏾♀️ especially when I was doing the “have to move due to increased rent” or “relocation due to work” dances every year 🙄 Don’t want to spend too much tailoring that environment to your likings only to leave it, but also don’t want to live in a boring, blank white-walled box for the entire duration of a lease. I’ve been in my current unit a year and a half and still don’t have what’s considered a full suite of household furniture due to the changings of mind 🤣 The struggle
So cool that you grew those from seed. I wonder if you had put that rhizome in a glass of water for awhile if it would have swelled back out. Idk. I have a big pot of zz and a small pot. I water the smaller pot more often just bc it dries out faster.
Oh I don't think you need to propagate the ZZ. I had pretty much all of the roots rott off my ZZ raven, but there is still life in the rhizom. I just washed off the dirt - put it in. water for a few days and then transferred it over to LECA. Within a few weeks it has regrown its root system and is super happy
I did a macrame hanger in green with a light weight gold pot. It looks so good. I got the macrame kit with instructions on Etsy. I think a few macrame hangers on your bed frame would look amazing,
Hey Fern. Spring is starting here in New England and those sunny and warm days are so impactful on my mental health too. Of course, today it's snowing 🌨 but Spring is near! Sending sunny and healthy vibes
hi fern!!! love your repots !!!! i don’t think that the zz in terracotta is a good combination, i keep mine in a plastic pot and water once a month (or less) and she’s always happy. then again terracotta and i don’t get along very well in the first place… but that would just be my two cents :) goood luck !!
Zz plants are slow growers, but watering once a month is usually the way to go. When I get new shoots on my Raven it can take almost 3 months for the new one to grow out fully. Propagating ZZ’s is a long slow process. Patience is key. Good luck Fern, as always great video. 💛💚🧡
I also struggle to pot my plants in the center.😅 I have a a normal ZZ and I water her once a month and she is putting out new growth, I guess it also depends on how much light the plant gets. 😊💚
How cool that you are learning Spanish! I learned it over 20 years ago by full immersion. I lived in Mexico for about 6 months when I was around 19 years old....been speaking it ever since. I built a business around it. I chopped up my regular zz plant last year and had two little bulbs that I potted by themselves and one is giving me a new leaf! It 's on my desk so I give it all kinds of love while I'm working lol. Thanks for the videos and I'm so happy that you are enjoying your new place! Crazy_herb_lady
My mom gave me a zzplant that she propagated and put in soil. It's been a one stem plant since last summer when she gave it to me and now I'm nervous I may have the same problem. Gonna try and pull it out of the pot asap to see the roots.
I love your raven. I have a regular ZZ that grows pretty quick. I would like to get a raven too. I only have 28 plants and they're all common ones. I particularly love pothos all different varieties. Love your videos and your vlogs! 🌿🌱💚
The plants I had in self watering pots rotted .... except for the ferns of course. I think you have to use a very airy chunky soil for those pots when potting aroids. And your soil looks Uber chunky.
Oh my goodness 🤭it was so sad to see the black raven zz in that condition i never seen anything like that before. They are so rare to come by and are slow growers. I definitely would water them once soil is dry in all plants. And definitely check them if they are in dormancy.
I have a ZZ stock rooting in water and it has taken more than 3 weeks to show tiny tiny roots That was the advice I got from Everything Plants, he said just need a lot of patience it takes along time to root.
Please do an update on your Dark Lord! I have one that was a one leaf wonder for soo long. It finally has 2 leaves and working on a third and another growth point. I never really see them anywhere!! And your Tortem!! ❤️💚❤️💚
I went out of town and my mom doesn’t have the greenest thumb so all my alocasias were completely wilted but I watered them and THEY BOUNCED BACK it was an emotional rollercoaster
Wow the tortum amazing and the little babies too 😍 and zz raven is so wonderful plant!!! I would love to see how this is going to be!!! And its rhizome too!!! Kisses 😘😘😘
I had a zz throw a LOT of new growth after cutting it. Like, within about a month I had a new super tall stalk and a new little growth. The cutting was only two leaves, maybe that would help the zz? To be fair, mine is the green version so not the Raven so maybe that changes the growth?
Same thing happened to my ZZ Raven! I am a chronic overwaterer and I was trying so hard to not rot it but I noticed it was rotting! So confused but seems like it’s rooting again but what is up?!
Raven Zz is expensive where you live? They are literally everywhere here. Costa has inundated the market with these plants in the US. I just started watching so idk where you’re from. Love your soil btw
My ZZ has barely grown since I got it in late 2020! I’m gonna repot today to see what’s going on because she hasn’t even given anything no new leaves no new stalk. Nada!
AAAAAA haven’t started the video but! I have been waiting for a chatty repot for so long! And it’s long one! And it’s snowing outside! And it’s Saturday! #blessed thank u a Fern✨✨✨🪲🪲🪲🪲❤️🔥
Tortum pot looks so good with 2 plants! I took a gamble and ordered one on Etsy for kinda cheap and it came from Eastern Europe (without import paperwork 😬), ended up being 2 really full plants in the pot and looks amazing! I feel like raven zz needs a little more light and water than my green one?
Hi Fern, your ZZ Raven looked so healthy, it just needed a bit of water. It will take quite a while to grow the rhizom back. But you can put the rhizom that you just cut off, in perlite as well. It will start to grow again;)
Thanks for the video, loved it as always💚
I love how delicate you are when you repot, it is really relaxing ☺️ love watching your videos while doing plant chores 💚
thank you 💚💚💚
初めまして〜!
丁寧な説明で、植え替えがわかりやすいです💕
大きくなるのを想像しながらするのは、楽しみですね💕👍🔔
Fern, The zz looked fine just needed a little more water. The rhizome should grow back too.
Not me giggling at the weirdly shaped dried corms on your zz raven🙊🙊 Thanks for the lovely video 💚
Looool 😂😂

Hey Fern! I propagated my ZZ plant by stem cutting and it took FOREVER for the new rhizome to grow, but it did grow! It'll be fine!!
You can also propagate ZZ by leaves as well. I broke a few off when I moved and put them in a cup of moss and they grew rhizomes in about two weeks
I’ve got 3 different setups for my zzs. I’ve got a massive one in a mix of equal parts coco coir, soil and pon and it’s a weed. I WAS SHOOK WHEN YOU RANDOMLY THREW A WHOLE SPANISH SENTENCE OUT THERE! Good job!
Hahahah omg thank you 🥲 I thought everyone was going to be mean and say jt sucked in the comments but y’all are so nice 💓💓💓
I am so freaking enamored with your tortum. That repot was immaculate and the result is so scrumptious, I can't stand it.

Good morning Fern. Can’t wait to see your plants grow. Have a great day. I will be doing my repotting tomorrow.
Thank you Brenda! Enjoy your repotting ☺️
you can pot the rhizome (if its not rotten) of the zz raven just cut the dead roots it will grow into a new plant u can even propagate it from leaves..
Can’t wait until I’m experienced enough to raise aroids from seed 🥰🥰 in the meantime I’m lighting one up and living vicariously through you!!
Happy Saturday Fern! Love these repots! I had just repotted my alocasia black velvet.
Ahhh thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it 🥰
Love to watch your reporting videos on Sunday mornings...Making coffee and cleaning up a bit my kitchen mess)) gives a good vibes for the rest of the day, thank You!
Ah yesss. Love a relaxing Sunday morning ☺️☺️

I have two ZZ plants that are thriving, both are in terracotta pots. I water more often than when they were in plastic.

I love your chatty repots with me, it's like catching up with a friend! I hope you post more of them!
So glad you like em :) I will! x

I absolutely love these kind of videos! Please keep them coming 🪴☀️😍 Would you consider doing a tutorial on how to make a simple Macrame hanger?! 😍😍😍
hahaha! she's always giving me the side eye
needed thisssss, jetlag hitting me hard on my trip so im up sooooo early haha
seriously i drool over your tortums every time you show them
omg bestieeee. hope you enjoy your trip, jet lag is no joke lol. I'm already stressed about daylight savings tomorrow 🥲 thank you for watching 💓💓💓
Hi! I started yoga for 2022 for many reasons, mainly to support my physical health as I'm in my 50's. I absolutely love it. It's hard, but so worth the challenge.
I finally found a trailing jade after admiring yours for a few months. Thank you for always providing plant-spiration!!
ZZ plants can also be propagated by simply cutting off the leaves as close to stem as possible and simply planting leaf stem end down into soil.
Very glad to be with you this morning! GREAT share and video!
thank you soooo much!!! have a beautiful day! x
When you help up the baby ZZ it looked like a little plant alien😊
I love yoga, but fell off of it a few months ago. I feel great when I do it but I need to prioritize it more. Also the terracotta pot for the tortum is weathered perfectly, it looks so cool.
Hi Fern, I enjoy watching your channel. l propagated zz raven a couple yrs ago. I put my zz outside in the spring since they grow so slow. They sent new shoots right away. Water almost every day, they get dry fast outside. Good luck with yours!🌱
Oh what a good idea - maybe I will pop mine out there this spring :)
Love these chatty repots video’s! I’m really into yoga as well, I enjoy Yoga with Adriene and if I feel like I need a little push back into it then the 30 days of yoga series are really great😊
Omg I love when I click on a video and there’s a sweet faced puppydog in the fraaaaame 😫😍.
omg hi I've been binging all your videos!! 💓💓
@@wildfern hiiii ☺️🖤 no way, thank you! 🙈
I propagated my regular zz in perlite too and now it’s doing great back in soil! It did take a while, like a couple months, but it’s been healthy ever since
Oh that's so great to hear!!
I love your re-potting videos. I have seen YT videos that show you can cut the leaves off of the ZZ and just plant them. Might be worth checking out if the stock doesn’t do well.
The yoga really brought my husband and I to a new level! At 75 he just won a regional billiards tournament
I am so happy for you Fern you have come along Way Baby and those roots are awesome I love Roots ❤
I can definitely relate to the rental environment upgrade situation lol. To the point where most of my apartments have been in design flux the entire time I lived there 🤦🏾♀️ especially when I was doing the “have to move due to increased rent” or “relocation due to work” dances every year 🙄
Don’t want to spend too much tailoring that environment to your likings only to leave it, but also don’t want to live in a boring, blank white-walled box for the entire duration of a lease.
I’ve been in my current unit a year and a half and still don’t have what’s considered a full suite of household furniture due to the changings of mind 🤣 The struggle
Thanks for another fab repot so relaxing to watch love the song at the end too❤️❤️
You’re welcome 😊 thank you for watching!!
So cool that you grew those from seed. I wonder if you had put that rhizome in a glass of water for awhile if it would have swelled back out. Idk. I have a big pot of zz and a small pot. I water the smaller pot more often just bc it dries out faster.
Omg I’m also learning spanish! Have been for over a year and it’s such a beautiful langage.
it really is!!! I have so much respect for people who speak more than one language - it's not easy!!
I think a few macrame hangers on your bed frame would look amazing,
Oooo sounds gorgeous!
The P. tortum looks so good!
Hello Fern, Im sick in bed and I found this video so relaxing and calming thank you
Feel better soon 💓
This was so relaxing. 🤌🏻
So glad you enjoyed! thank you 💚
Hey Fern. Spring is starting here in New England and those sunny and warm days are so impactful on my mental health too. Of course, today it's snowing 🌨 but Spring is near! Sending sunny and healthy vibes
Yes - it’s so close 💐 rainy here now too but I know sunny days are near :)
hi fern!!! love your repots !!!! i don’t think that the zz in terracotta is a good combination, i keep mine in a plastic pot and water once a month (or less) and she’s always happy. then again terracotta and i don’t get along very well in the first place… but that would just be my two cents :) goood luck !!
I teach vinyasa yoga twice a week :-) keep up with it, it's really a mind, body & soul connection
That’s amazing!! Thank you, I plan to 🙏
Zz plants are slow growers, but watering once a month is usually the way to go.
Idk why but im so glad u planted the tortums tugether, you said you want to do it for kinda some time now.
Fern the zz looks absolutely fine 💚💚
does it 👀
How cool that you are learning Spanish!
I just have to say, thank you so much for uploading. You have become my comfort UA-camr and I’m always soo excited whenever you upload 💚
awe thank you so much Lara ☺️
If you are looking for macrame I highly suggest ganxxet. They ship to Canada and are pretty environmentally conscious.
I'm a yogi!! Being I have so much pain from arthritis, I really love yoga. Mentally also.
I water my ZZs once a month.. It's the only plant in my collection that I water on a schedule. Good luck with your Ravens!
thank you 🥺🥺 I really hope it roots!
I love your raven. I have a regular ZZ that grows pretty quick. I would like to get a raven too. I only have 28 plants and they're all common ones. I particularly love pothos all different varieties. Love your videos and your vlogs! 🌿🌱💚
you did the last plant bad, did you save the roots ball, the ball can can saved too
Love the repot with me! And the updates! How do you keep all your planty stuff organized?
I'm actually filming an organize my plant supplies with me video soon! Stay tuned :)
The plants I had in self watering pots rotted .... except for the ferns of course. I think you have to use a very airy chunky soil for those pots when potting aroids. And your soil looks Uber chunky.
Olive is looking fantastic! It's great that you were able to get her to a healthy weight :)
Awe thank you!!!
your seedling is getting soooo big!!
Right 😃😃 it’s so cute
Yayyy great way to start my Sunday morning 😉💛
happy Sunday 🥰
Aweee I'm sorry about your Raven!!! She will root !! It may take awhile but she will!
Oh my goodness 🤭it was so sad to see the black raven zz in that condition i never seen anything like that before. They are so rare to come by and are slow growers. I definitely would water them once soil is dry in all plants. And definitely check them if they are in dormancy.
Your philodendron tortem looks amazing!!!
Thank you Fern for remembering me to water my zz today 😅 Very happy that you're doing amazing lately !
Lots of love from Bordeaux 💙
Thank you so muchhhh 🥰💓
"it's cold now but i'm still gonna try to drink it" is honestly my whole life
hahahaha 😂
Love that tortum!!!💚💚💚💚💚
Oh this is so interesting! Def will try to find this type in Australia x
I have a ZZ stock rooting in water and it has taken more than 3 weeks to show tiny tiny roots That was the advice I got from Everything Plants, he said just need a lot of patience it takes along time to root.
Except the better part of a year before it's ready to go into soil 😅😩 They really make us work for it 🤣
I have several anthurium and in my conditions, they love sitting in really chunky, well draining substrate in terracotta ☺️
Please do an update on your Dark Lord! I have one that was a one leaf wonder for soo long. It finally has 2 leaves and working on a third and another growth point. I never really see them anywhere!!
And your Tortem!! ❤️💚❤️💚
Loving the shorter nails and the color!!
thank you so much :)
I went out of town and my mom doesn’t have the greenest thumb so all my alocasias were completely wilted but I watered them and THEY BOUNCED BACK it was an emotional rollercoaster
omg!!! so glad they were revived 🙌
I replant on the side of my pots too, didn’t think they were too deep, the more you know 😉
I'm sure you've figured it out by now but the zz really does root easily with a stem cutting. I did 5 and all 5 rooted really well in water.
I bought myself a palidiflorum for my birthday. It's a beauty!
ahhhh!! maybe I'll do the same for my birthday in June 😏
this and your vlog making my weekend morning at work so much easier -luv
this makes me so happy 💓 enjoy!!
Wow that's so fast for a ZZ! Well done 👏
They're everywhere here too! But it's still around $80 for a full pot, which is out of my budget at the moment lol.
@@wildfern 😮$80!!! We get them in 6” nursery pots in a ceramic pot for $20. But. I’ve killed a few cuz I either over watered or under watered it. Lol
good luck with your raven ZZ, i've tried propagating ZZ numerous times and they just rot :( so i gave in and bought a full plant
😮
I wanted so badly for you to pet olive in the beginning 🫒🫒🫒🥺 she is so cute and curious
hahah she is a curious queen 🥺
My ZZ has barely grown since I got it in late 2020! I’m gonna repot today to see what’s going on because she hasn’t even given anything no new leaves no new stalk. Nada!
omg lol!! glad mines not the only one 😂
AAAAAA haven’t started the video but! I have been waiting for a chatty repot for so long! And it’s long one! And it’s snowing outside! And it’s Saturday! #blessed thank u a Fern✨✨✨🪲🪲🪲🪲❤️🔥
eeeeeee thank youuuuu! enjoy it! 💚🥰💓
It's not a repot with fern if she doesn't accidentally knock off a plant and takes a relatable dramatic breath lol
a clumsy queen 👑
Omg your reaction to the zz plant was too funny 😂🥰
lmaooo I was not expecting it to look like that 💀
hi! i love your videos fern. so happy everyday you post. 💚💚
thank you Claire 🥺🥺🥺
Congrats on the sponsorship Fern! 😊🌱
Thank you so much 🥺🥰
Tortum pot looks so good with 2 plants! I took a gamble and ordered one on Etsy for kinda cheap and it came from Eastern Europe (without import paperwork 😬), ended up being 2 really full plants in the pot and looks amazing!
I feel like raven zz needs a little more light and water than my green one?
Look forward to watching your videos. Best of luck to you Fern ✌️❤️
