Saw this shaw in my crochet now magazine! I'm more of a visual learner. So finding a demo is so helpful!!! I can't wait for my yarn to come in the mail to make this for a gift 😄 thank you !!
Hey! I love all your videos so much and you’re the only creator I understand when it comes to crocheting. Could you please make a tutorial for a crochet bucket hat? 💗
I LOVE, love, love this. It's so easy. I am an experience crocheter, but some patterns are so complicated that I give up. This one is a winner! Thank you! I'm about half way through my first one ( I had a pound of yarn in heather grey). It's turning out so nice. I am going to make a second one in Madala gradient (burgundy)
Thank you very much Sarah Jane. This is an Amazing shawl and your tutorial is so easy to follow to crotchet. This will be my 1st Shawl that I have done. I have only ever crocheted blankets. Watching from Australia.
I just made the shawl it's awesome. I added a border to mind. I also like makeing blankets like you do. There is a mood blanket some were in her videos that's really cool to make.
After 40 years of not holding a crocket hook, I've started the shawl using Lion's Brand Mandala 100% Acrylic. So glad to have this visual step by step to go along with the pdf pattern because I'm not much good at following the pattern without the visual. Hopefully it will turn out acceptable for wearing. It's just a practice piece, but would like to make another for gifting.
Christmas is in 2 days. I was having issues crocheting my Gma something as I had to restart multiple times because the pattern was too complicated for a beginner like me. Then I stumbled across this. I might just make it
Hii! I really enjoy your tutorials! I was wondering how you’d a ‘(3dc, 2dc in next)’ However, in the round before, there’s 20 sts and now there’s 25 sts. Hope you can help! xx
Hi. I have scrolled back through 8years of your videos but can’t find it. Might have missed it. But have you done a headband tutorial with a hair bobble
Wow I cant believe how many questions everyone asks. Im not sure how Sarah Jane can answer you all. I was reading comments looking for inspiration and all I was seeing can you help do this, how much do I need of this, will you make a video on this. I did see one girl says she going to make a hair bandana from this pattern. I might try and make one to.
I've used 10 50g balls in total, but you would need to compare the substitute yarn to the yardage. All of the yarn details are in this post: blog.bellacococrochet.com/romany-crochet-shawl/
This pattern is worked using aran weight wool so you’ll need the number of balls as stated 😊 If you want to substitute to a different yarn it’s important to check the total yardage needed to make sure you have enough.
Hi, I’m a newbie with you and a beginner at crochet. I love this shawl but was wondering if it could be made just in the first 3/4 rows, meaning all granny stitches? As a first shawl I need to get used to one stitch first and think all those other rows would confuse me. If not could you suggest a shawl with just granny stitches please. I shall be using one colour. Thank you.
Be aware, if you prefer reading a pattern, the blog doesn't show rows 1-30 unless you subscribe. It's still free with ads, but the requirement is subscription...also when on the website on the phone the handicap icon can get in the way of scrolling.
Yes you can, although that yarn is 4 ply so your shawl will work up a bit smaller (you can work extra repeats to increase the size) ps - your spelling looked perfect to me 😊
I think 8 ply would be closest but you can use any yarn that you want, as long as you adjust your hook size accordingly 😊 If your yarn is thinner you may want to work some extra repeats so the shawl works up to the same size.
You should find this works up as a triangle shape with straight sides; I would make sure you’re working the beginning and end of the rows correctly but blocking should also help 😊
I dont understand rows 11 - 15. You said for these rows do a repeat of rows 6,7,8 9,10, do we just keep repeating those rows until we reach the 48 rows?

I hope this helps - Historically, the UK worsted weight yarn equivalent has been aran. Some serious yarn enthusiasts will tell you that these terms aren't precisely interchangeable. That's because traditionally, worsted and aran yarns were spun differently. As a result, true aran yarn has more loft and a bouncier feel than worsted. However, most modern knitting companies don't differentiate between the two. Aran yarn is also known as 10 ply yarn. It's important to note that in Australia, 10 ply yarn is commonly referred to as the equivalent of worsted weight yarn. So, if you're working on a pattern from Down Under and uncertain about which yarn to use, remember that 10 ply yarn is what you'll need :)

HI
THANK YOU FOR THE TUTORIAL FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL SHAWL.
I love that you say the US terms *and* the UK terms🤩 it's usually pretty hard to find videos like this
So so true. American videos don't state the UK equivalent so I end up getting very confused 😢😖😫
I am 74 and have been crocheting since 1967 This is the best explained shawl pattern I have seen
Thank you so much :)
You will need 1250 yards of weight 4 yarn for anyone wondering
Thank you!
That was my first question thank you
Do you know how many balls that is please?
so would the 4 weight change the hook size ?
Thank you!!! 🙏🏼

What colours were used in the hobbit matalico yarn please
Not understand how to repeat row 3 in row 9.. 😢 I'm stuck on the beginning row 9
You’ll work it exactly the same as before, by chaining four, and then working three trebles in each chain space, with a chain one in between 😊

Pretty!😍

I want to make a v stitch rectangle I am 5 ft 1 and 1/2 in tall how many chains should I do?
Beautiful shawl ❤ I have a very beautiful large cake of variegated yarn but it’s DK, could I use that but just do extra rows to make it big enough?
Thank you, I’m glad you like it 😊 Yes, you can substitute your yarn and work some extra repeats to make it bigger.
Can you please tell me how much yarn would I need to crochet this shawl? In terms of grams if possible?
Do you think fringe would look good around the bottom?
Yes! I'm adding fringe!
@@Candice-it7ek I ended up adding a picot boarder and really like it!

I’d love to try this with some 4ply yarn I have - not sure if it’d be too thin though?
It will work up smaller with 4ply yarn but you could always work an extra pattern repeat 😊
If I substitute to aran weight wool, how many balls do I need to complete this? Many thanks.
This pattern is worked using aran weight wool so you’ll need the number of balls as stated 😊 If you want to substitute to a different yarn it’s important to check the total yardage needed to make sure you have enough.

How much aran weight yarn does this pattern need? X
I’m a beginner am I repeating 6,7,8,9,10 up until row 45 I’m not changing colours
In the tutorial, which uses a single colour, do you show/tell us when to change colour?
Yes I do, however you can find the written pattern here which maybe of help to you - blog.bellacococrochet.com/romany-crochet-shawl/ :)

Could I crochet this shawl using Scheepjes whirl? Sorry for the spelling mistakes 😂
Yes you can, although that yarn is 4 ply so your shawl will work up a bit smaller (you can work extra repeats to increase the size) ps - your spelling looked perfect to me 😊
I want to make this shawl but I want to use standard ply wool. What ply do I use 8 ply? 4 ply?
I think 8 ply would be closest but you can use any yarn that you want, as long as you adjust your hook size accordingly 😊 If your yarn is thinner you may want to work some extra repeats so the shawl works up to the same size.
I’m making this but my edges aren’t looking straight when I fold it in half it matches is there supposed to be a curve ?
You should find this works up as a triangle shape with straight sides; I would make sure you’re working the beginning and end of the rows correctly but blocking should also help 😊
want to make this for my grandma but what is the equivalent of aran? 8ply or 10ply?
I think 10 ply would be the nearest equivalent 😊
I’m gonna try making this for my mum since it’s Mother’s Day soon, but can I ask how much yarn u used? Thanks!
