If there is a demand for a repair channel for these tractors, perhaps treat this like your retirement package? Build the shop now, while you're able to do these repairs and run the farm. Then you'll have it when you undoubtedly shift from the farm labor to other activities you can manage. I'm only 8 years behind you and have had to pivot due to health several times. One slip on the ice in the winter and you may not be able to do the physical labor stuff like you can today. Nice to have a fallback.

I enjoy the video mix between the tractors, the animals, and the discussions on your thought process behind your decisions, or in the case of this video indecision. When you change your audience will change, but that should not be a factor in what is going to make you happy. As you get older it's nice to make life a bit easier. The shop would do that, and you have two large tractors with rather big restorations, so my vote is to get the shop done now so you can enjoy it. If you wait 10 years you'll be saying why didn't I do this sooner.

I am not a farmer, never was, never will be. Pete, at 75 I will share with you, that your mind does not get older…. that’s the difficult part about getting older. As you age you will slowly realize that your body can’t do what your mind says it should. I think you will find that out with the next couple of winter projects. You sure can do each of them. BUT after a days work on restoring your tractor you will call it a day and try and relax after dinner. You will go over in your mind what you accomplished that day. And…. You will say, Pete…. I remember doing this job a few years ago and you did in half the time. Not only that you will wake up the next morning and almost dread having to go back and work in a cold workshop but that won’t stop you.
Pete, I saw it on your face at the end of this video. You were going over in your mind that these next few projects may be the most difficult projects you have ever done. I look forward to your next video. I have a feeling that it is now time for Orden to claim number 1.

Pete, I just started watching this year but now I’m hooked and eagerly await each video. I’m a farm boy myself but went into the military as an aircraft mechanic. Now retired and 56yrs old I have learned to do what thrills you most as time and death are fickle. Build the shop so you have a proper safe place to overhaul your tractors. Small spaces crammed with heavy parts are inherently dangerous and you don’t need to put yourself out of commission trying to “make do”. Live life to its fullest now. Tomorrow might not come. Keep up the awesome videos whether it’s farming or restoration I’ll be here waiting for each one. Cheers from Alberta Canada. 😊

I see a farmlife vid, I click it immediately. I see tractor-work, I gather them up and when you reach the end I watch the whole thing in one long sitting. You and Hillary are great examples of how to treat other people, and to take good care of animals. As if that wasn't enough you have shared your wisdom and common sense about how to do things and how to be good stewards of your blessings.
Pray about your decisions and ask the Lord for His direction.
And keep wearing that Hawkeye shirt!

I have chronic health issues and I have taken this year off work (Lawyer) to focus on me and my gardens. You give me strength to undertake my little garden projects. You remind me that its okay to consider a project and as I go the little issues I face can change the original thought processes. Which entails making changes towards the new goal. Thank you to you and Hilary for your videos.

Enjoy all your wonderful videos, Pete and Hillary! Having been a dairy farmer for about 25 years I enjoy seeing all the animals and your approach on everything. You have so much patience working with the animals and I really appreciate that. Saying all that, your gift is with your mechanical skills. So detail oriented with great camera angles and explanations of what and why you’re doing things. I would get through this year, get your work shop built and start doing all your tractor projects there. I’m sure you would having a booming business of restoring tractors for as long as you wanted to do it. I would want you to rebuild mine after watching how fussy you are. Best of luck in your decision!! I’ll be watching, no matter what.

Figuring out the questions is the first step! You all are so smart and thoughtful that answers will come and then maybe more questions and then more answers.
Never thought I’d enjoy watching tractor restoration, but here I am.
I’m your same age born in 1969 and I’m still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up, too.
Spent 20 years leading corporate HR. Now I have my own tiny farm and this is the time of year to do a “tear down” of this year and figure out what’s next for 2024.
    Much love to you all!

Moving things from here to there in those wonderful old trackers of yours. Nothing bothers me and It doesn’t matter what it is your showing, I know I’m gonna like it, no if’s or buts about it.
Thank you Mr. Pete and Ms Hillary for the enjoyment of your company🌹

Pete, I have been following you over the past couple of years. I have enjoyed all the content you have created. As it relates to what you asked feedback for, my thoughts start with planning for the future. You are not getting younger so… #1 continually working to simplify your operations (and remain profitable), while simultaneously #2 taking steps to build your new shop (you need this sooner than later), and finally #3 taking only absolutely necessary steps to repair equipment. Concerning the channel content…I prefer the mix of every-day farm life and tractor restoration.

You could probably put your current loader on the 756 until you get the 656 fixed and then fix the loader and put it back on the 656 . I have a 2350 on my 186 and it has a skid loader adapter plate on it (ATI maybe)

I know you wouldn't accept it because youre too modest but I would donate to a fundraiser to help you build a shop. I've been watching this channel for a while now and although i do really enjoy the chore-type videos, i also enjoy the tractor restoration ones too. The way i see it, i wouldnt be donating but instead paying money for higher quality content if you had a nicer shop with more equipment. It doesn't have to be a gofundme either; it could be something like, "buy a 30$ t-shirt & half the proceeds go to the new shop fund!" Whatever makes you feel like you're not panhandling (you wouldnt be). Dont be selfish, you owe it to the fans! Start the fundraiser, take my money and build a dream shop!!

Pete I'm sure that what ever you decide to do about the tractor repair will be right for you. As far as building a new larger shop it has to make sense for your needs and a joint decision with Hillary. I enjoy all the aspects of your channel from the animals, market, equipment working/repairs. To your Barbecuing to just sitting and chatting to those that watch. Until next time have a good day.

I totally get the shifting part for the farm. We did that just last year by selling most of the cattle and going into grain. Its a nerve wrecking choice that hold a ton of uncertainty but looking back a year later, we are quite happy. My father who will be turning 60 wanted a huge shop all his life so he could do wood working and restore tractor. After the last few years of pricing out a 40 by 50 ft shop, he came to the conclusion that the price to build it just does not make sense. So he shifted his plans and turned a bay from one of our pole sheds into his restoration shop and build a small addition onto his garage for much less. It might not be exactly what he wanted with all the fancy stuff but he is happy with it. That is one thing you could do too. Take the last bay of your shed and turn it into a heated shop. its quite cheap and not too much work to build it since the tructure is there. Just a idea.

But I really tune in for the animals and farm work. It's oddly relaxing!

My Dad was a gentleman farmer/collage professor who didn't understand machinery thus I repaired the equipment. Many, many years ago! Watching your youtube is relaxing and brings back memories! What ever you two want to do. You guys are fun to watch. But it’s still kills me you won’t get a skid steer! I just don’t get that one . Your getting up there on your channel. Thank about getting you a helper for you guys. Don’t have to have them in the spot light. Like you said. Your 55 and probably 20 more Good years . You’re a smart man you will figure it out.
