hey man, I’m stuck on the part where you removed the air pump adapter on the end of the right camshaft. I tried your trick, using a spreader and hammer it counter clockwise, using some PB blast on the thread, and also I used a flat driver and put the thing right through it and pull as hard as i can and it won’t loosen. I tried for hours and man the flat head is gonna snap if i pull it any harder than I can. Any advice?
Also pay attention to how I am turning it out with my fingers it’s the same direction. Make sure someone holds the camshaft from turning. You may have to hit it a little harder just be careful with vibrations in the camshaft. You can also try using the tool that holds the cams in place basically using one of the edges as a wrench slide it into the groove and turn.
@@TOUGHBUILDSCUSTOMS Yes sir i’m quite certain that I’m turning it the right direction. I’m on the left side of the car and pulling the bolt towards me. I didn’t turn the camshaft but I did turn the crank so that the line is at 12 and 6 o clock. I used the crankshaft holder which is a thick piece of metal and i kid you not the metal bended. Is there anything I can do at this point? I’m ordering a drive drag link socket to use on the adapter with a breaker to see if i hit any luck but I’m thinking that won’t work. Is there any way I can go around this and does the adapter on the camshaft will absolutely need to be off for the timing to be correct. I have to return my head for core charge in a few days so I’m kinda stuck here. Anything will help and thank you for the quick response. By the way what is the core charge return deadline for the head in your link. I got the same link and have been looking but I don’t see a return deadline but I’m hitting a month and I had it stored in my home for 3 weeks due to urgent work tasks.
@@Man-ShingWan yes there is a way around it. This would only work for removing them. Not installing them. Now if you’re getting new camshafts then you can just get a new vacuum pump camshaft adapter. As long as your cams are not pushing down on you valves you can tell this by your camloops are pointed up you can safely take it off. Has to be top dead center. I would say heat but that’s risky because it’s aluminum. They do make a tool for removing them. I can’t seem to remember the name omg lol. This is something else that yours won’t break lose. The only other way is to soak it in PB blaster other then that there’s not much more. You can spend alittle money and call a local mechanic they should have the tool to remove it. I wish I was there I would get her off for you.
@@TOUGHBUILDSCUSTOMSThanks for the quick man I really appreciate it. A few days later and multiple attempts of smacking the bolt with the brake spreader and hammer and some PB blast it still won’t come off. Currently I’m waiting for this socket called drive link socket from amazon coming tomorrow that I can attached to my 3/8 wrench and i think it’ll fit into the flat head crack in the adapter. If that doesn’t work then maybe I’ll just fit top dead center and take it off like that. I just don’t want to move too much away from the video since I have no clue how to improvise and not follow the video and I also don’t want to mess up the timing. Also what is the tool/bolt you mentioned in 7:47? Thanks again
@@TOUGHBUILDSCUSTOMS No not yet i will be starting this project soon and i like how you explain steps by steps. No I don’t mind. I put the link to the tool in the description. As the videos go I’ll be posting the seal and parts in the description but still feel free to dm me.
did you turn the crank shaft to make it top dead center or you just align the cam and that should align the crank as well i'm confuse of how to align the timing
@@vicarnieva5401 When you align the cams, your crank should be aligned with the cams. Don't pull the timing chain off. Until you put the crank timing tool in the side of the block behind the a c compressor If the crank doesn't rub against that tool, then you're not timed, Typically, when you time the cams you put the cam tool on an you should be at top dead center.
@@TOUGHBUILDSCUSTOMSdid you just have to use the tool for cam shafts to lock in to take off the harmonic balancer? Not seeing anything that you had to do before that
Do you have to fit the camshaft plate in when disassembling? I have the back set up properly with the small part facing up and crankshaft at tdc but my plate won’t go in
@@TOUGHBUILDSCUSTOMS yes i did, i ended up taking it apart without the tool on but kept the cams in pretty much the perfect spot. I’m gonna use the tool when i put it back together, think i’ll be good? A shop will be resurfacing my head and checking the valves.
I'm doing the same thing right now with my 2016 ecoboost. I didn't see anything in your videos sir, how did you manage to get the bolt off that holds on the harmonic balancer?
Yeah, I didn’t record that part. It was very frustrating. I had to go to Home Depot and get the strongest Milwaukee handheld impact, and it finally broke loose.

You might be going the wrong way. Umm the cams spin counter clockwise. So I am sure it goes the other way see if it gets looser. Let me know.
