I would LOVE to see the 1911 and just maybe be able to have it in Halo Infinite one day. I’m sure there is still 1911’s out there in the Halo Universe just like the 2001 Chevy Tahoe.
My favorite part of this retrospective was the exploration of how Soldiers had historically been trained to fire the 1911, compared to current training on usage. That context added good depth to the video, showing the kind of image that each iteration plays off of.
The 2019 iteration is definitely my favorite. The animation work on all their weapons felt authentic and ooze personality. Gameinformer's interview with lead animator Mark Grigsby is worth checking out.
Every time I see the CoD sidearm animations I remember how great Battlefield's, Titanfall's and Destiny's animations are. They did start making meaty, satisfying animations on MW2019 and it feels amazing.
One small detail in the difference in the sights with cod 4 over previous COD games was that they now use Novak style sights over the classic m1911a1 sights. The Nickle plated variant may just be stainless. In the cod mw 2 footage it appears to have a extended grip safety, a classic detail of more modern 1911’s. The cod black ops variant is nickle plated, as that was thought to be corrosion resistant. It’s also a series 70, which is the most lusted after, as it doesn’t have a firing pin safety.

If you're going to do cod evolution vids I recommend you get in contact with a UA-camr named hyper...he animated most of the weapons in the new modern warfare...he also does amazing reload animations on his channel
Throughout cold wars lifetime, I basically only used the 1911. The "midnight" blueprint with all the stealth perks and such made hardcore games feel like a stealth mission and really fun.
Interesting that you threw the tidbit about the Black Ops Wii version as one of the few that played it that way back in the day. Some other minor detail with the pistol in this version is that it actually is held in one hand (like all pistols in the game in this version iirc). If you use motion pointer controls, you can actually twist the Wii Remote to tilt the gun sideways! They might've opted to make the pistols one handed to give this feature more of a noticeable impact on the pistols.
bo on wii was surprisingly pretty good when you consider how weak wii hardware was compared to the competition. To think dlc maps were once planned for the wii version but dropped due to its lack of (or poorly) internal memory.
God, hearing you talk about CoD Zombies and even mention Rizzo brings a fat smile to my face. I'd love to see the M16 or maybe even something related to Gears of War? Not sure you'd wanna do that, or if it'd even do well.
I started playing the Call of Duty franchise with Call of Duty 2 and I still feel like it's the best WWII game in the franchise. It also makes me very happy to see you not only covering Halo (CE was my first game ever), but also covering Call of Duty (a game I have also been playing my whole life).

In some of the games, like CoD 3, the 1911's gunshot is accompanied by a crack. The .45 ACP is a subsonic round and should never crack. Personally, my favorite rendition is either the og Black Ops one or the MW2019 model.

Joel Emslie was the chief animator for IW during MW2019, COD4 & MW2. He was also one of the OGs that left with Vince and Jason when they made Respawn. His work speaks for itself. MW2019 is the gold standard when it comes to models, sound, and animations.
Cod 1 and 2 are so nostalgic for me and I remember after watching your evolution videos comparing guns from different cod games. Especially the cod 1 1911 was the first time I ever even thought about weapon animations. This video makes me happy.

Holy cow! Original Call of Duty footage. Man, I remember saying the first two COD games were my favorite that I've played and the person thought I was talking about MW or Black Ops.
4’s is the most nostalgic personally. 3 was my first CoD, but 4 was the game that got me into the series, and having the 1911 be the gun that took out Zakhaev in the game’s ending made it one of the most iconic weapons of the game. World At War’s is also really cool for how shitty it looks, in a good way. It looks like a gun that saw thorough use throughout the war before you got your hands on it, and fit the more horror tone of the game and fit Zombies perfectly.
I love the 1911. Throughout COD it was one of my favorites, and it partially inspired me to get a real one. Also one a side note, I carry a 1911 as my Conceal Carry gun and they are a blast to shoot. Good video dude it's nice to see it get some love.

The Audio for the 1911 in BO1? Chef’s kiss, i still remember the noises after all these years and may have accidentally made my standards for the audio that particular one. The reload is even more iconic, it’s possibly the most well known reload in Cod history.
What gets me about 1911s in games is how the main hands thumb is always under the thumb safety. Almost all gun handling teachers preach riding non support thumb on top of the thumb safety to avoid possible pushing it up during recoil. You would think that animation could work.
Something that I noticed is the MW 2019 version is actually a newer version of the gun with a picatinny rail below the barrel. Great attention to detail by whoever modeled the gun.
This inspired me to play the COD games for the first time. I acquired Call of Duty 1 & 2, World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops III over time through Steam sales but haven’t played them much. Hopefully the gaps in my library can be filled if COD comes to Game Pass
The Modern Warfare series has made me always remember this gun as a representation of the bond between two brothers, Soap and Price. I absolutely love how they could make a weapon such an iconic, important symbol.
I know one of the guys that works at Infinity Ward hired in the MW2019 era - he brought something like ~20+ handguns to sell off at a profit (because of the California roster handgun rules for residents). It's not shocking that animation quality has MASSIVELY increased.
The M1911. If there ever was a pistol that defined what a pistol really was, then you look no further than this 100 year strong sidearm. Truly, it is the pistol that defined the sidearm faction of firearms for years on end.

To me the MW 2019 1911 is my favorite but that’s because I’m a firearms enthusiast who likes all the little details and wants it to be the most real. I also think the animations in that rendition are the best, in fact all the gun animations in MW 2019 are absolutely amazing.

I think this is an interesting start to including non-Halo weapons to this video series, although I’ve always feel like the Slabslide is usually overshadowed when it comes to other handguns (and this is coming from someone who has three of them). As far as visual appearances in COD games I preferred the more “realistic” look since CoD supposed to be based on somewhat realistic events (to a point) also I think it’s more realistic when it doesn’t have a shiny surface
I loved the Cold War 1911 for one simple reason: the way the character racks the slide with their hand when doing an empty reload. I'm not sure if there is a benefit to doing that over pressing the slide release, but that extra flair just adds an extra layer of "cool" to the weapon that other games lack imo.
My favorite is 1000% the Black Ops 1 variation. That firing sound is absolutely badass. And, if I recall correctly, it sounds exactly like a .50 cal fired from Brandon Herrera's AK-50. While it's unrealistic for it's caliber, I love it regardless. It makes it feel more powerful than it is. Although I do like the Vanguard model, mainly the spikey sights. If I had to choose a second place for the pistol, it'd be Cold War.
The black ops 1 1911 is the G.O.A.T of all of them. But followed closely behind that one is the MW2019 version. The care given to these weapons was fantastic. And I hope that the 2022 MW brings back the feel of the MW2019 one. Keep up the great content! You've earned a sub!

Every gun in modern warfare pretty much was the best version of it thanks to the incredible animation and sound design lil Im super excited for the one coming out this year, MW really gives me the tingles as a gun nut
Fun fact, Harrison Ford was taught the current military tactics at the time when he was shooting his blaster in star wars as Han Solo, one handed and his other hand out for balance, that’s how soliders and police were trained to shoot a pistol. Also in Call of Duty 3 the 1911’s slide doesn’t lock back when you’re out of ammo.
The M1911 got a ghost patch that buffed it in MW2019 and was my favorite pistol and I got all the camos for the pistols minus obsidian. In hard core it's a one shot up to 40 meters making it a great "OH shite I'm out" gun in a pinch. The skin you got from pre-ordering MW2 remastered was beautiful modernization that you don't feel bad for dumping attachments on it, it's is a shame that the skin is locked away now.
Just a bit of trivia about how Call of Duty even came into existence, the developers were literally some of the creative minds behind some of the Medal of Honor games, so if anyone has any memorable MoH games, the guys that would later become Infinity Ward were likely the ones that gave you those memories.
The 1911 in cold war is quiet special to me because it's the first gun I maxed out. In multiplayer I made a custom blueprint I nicknamed "Trigga Finga Mk3" (as the name suggest this is the third version of it) and with a trigger finger I can clear a room and have gotten plays with it before. In zombies I have it dueled wield and made it to focus on accuracy, while in multiplayer it was focus on ADS speed. I have the pistols all in zombie diamond. And my friends and cousins who I play with sometimes know I'm a deadly marksman when I have that classic in my hand.
1911 was literally my go to weapon for zombie in cold war, i would literally only use it because it's incredible if you keep upgrading it and get headshots. The only time I wouldn't use it is if I was working on a challenge for a new weapon or camo farming. But that was when I still played the game and that stopped at like season 2.
My favorite has got to be modern warfare 2019. its got it all, expert animations, meaty sounds, and a realistic feel. Also, the maps in modern warfare 2019 seem to have the most detail out of all. the games, shot a compressed airtank? it explodes ad moves around the room! I love it so much.

So it was taught to be shot one handed at first, but shooter performance increased as soon as troops started using two hands (mostly due to the weight of the gun and the amount of recoil it produced when fired.) It was held with the shooter's firing hand in the regular firing position and their support hand cupped under the magazine clasping the shooting hand. This was once again modified from the cupped hands to the more common nowadays double hand clasp around the grip

The Black Ops M1911 might be my favorite due to it's Nickel Plating and Meaty sound effect that makes me feel like the .45 ACP monster of a handgun that it is.
My favourite from the franchise is and likely will never change. The BO1 M1911 is just extremely appealing to me, in its animations, look and feel. Something about how the soldier handles the gun is very smooth. The single reload is swift and has that crisp metallic BO1 pistol reload sound. The animations of the dual wield M1911 are iconic, with the flip reloads and one handed slide racks. On top of that, in zombies the weapon was a behemoth. For me, the black ops 1 M1911 has not been topped yet.
I feel like you could do more iconic video game weapons justice with these vids, so maybe the super shotgun or BFG-9000 could be a good evolution video. Keep up the amazing work LNG.
I feel like the Call of Duty 1 version of the 1911 had that little quirk in the ADS animations (where the sights are technically improperly aligned) was probably unintentional, but when playing, to me, it feels like a nod to the fact that guns IRL have small quirks in their bullet spread and where the bullets will go compared to how you aim, and the character is just compensating for the fact that they _know_ their sidearm will shoot a little high. Though if that were actually the case you would still see the sights more aligned than they actually are, but when reading too much into an unintentional oversight to get more out of a game from 2003 you have to stretch things just a little! In all seriousness though, love the video! You can definitely tell that for a few years, there, the quality really suffered from the yearly release schedule when the resources just weren't quite there to properly support that business model for the series. Especially with Treyarch's dodgy un-gloved hand models during that time.

I'm 100% here for non Halo videos. It can be kinda tough for channels to shed their "brand" but I'll watch anything you do since every video clearly feels like something you want to make.
I'd love to see you get around to the evolution of the either the m1 garand/derivitives or the AK/derivitives in the Cod series. I think that would be cool.

The AW 1911 was indeed disappointing, but I will admit, the dual wield reload animation is pretty slick

Cold Wars 1911 has to be the most well presented. That "Action Movie" feel for the gun fits very nicely into the story

This inspired me to play the COD games for the first time. I acquired Call of Duty 1 & 2, World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops III over time through Steam sales but haven’t played them much. Hopefully the gaps in my library can be filled if COD comes to Game Pass
2019 just set the bar really high, hyped to see what MW2022 will be, nowadays if I watch CoD related content it’s usually a Infinity Ward game

The Modern Warfare series has made me always remember this gun as a representation of the bond between two brothers, Soap and Price. I absolutely love how they could make a weapon such an iconic, important symbol.
I know one of the guys that works at Infinity Ward hired in the MW2019 era - he brought something like ~20+ handguns to sell off at a profit (because of the California roster handgun rules for residents).
It's not shocking that animation quality has MASSIVELY increased.

To me the MW 2019 1911 is my favorite but that’s because I’m a firearms enthusiast who likes all the little details and wants it to be the most real. I also think the animations in that rendition are the best, in fact all the gun animations in MW 2019 are absolutely amazing.
Out of all the hours and days ive played black ops 2 im incredibly surprised I never realized the 1911 was just a tac45 reskin. It makes so much sense! The BO1 1911 was def my favorite

I have fired a 1911 in real life before and modern warfare 2019 certainly captures the artistic realism of that gun very well
I think this is an interesting start to including non-Halo weapons to this video series, although I’ve always feel like the Slabslide is usually overshadowed when it comes to other handguns (and this is coming from someone who has three of them).
As far as visual appearances in COD games I preferred the more “realistic” look since CoD supposed to be based on somewhat realistic events (to a point) also I think it’s more realistic when it doesn’t have a shiny surface
I loved the Cold War 1911 for one simple reason: the way the character racks the slide with their hand when doing an empty reload. I'm not sure if there is a benefit to doing that over pressing the slide release, but that extra flair just adds an extra layer of "cool" to the weapon that other games lack imo.
My favorite is 1000% the Black Ops 1 variation. That firing sound is absolutely badass. And, if I recall correctly, it sounds exactly like a .50 cal fired from Brandon Herrera's AK-50. While it's unrealistic for it's caliber, I love it regardless. It makes it feel more powerful than it is. Although I do like the Vanguard model, mainly the spikey sights. If I had to choose a second place for the pistol, it'd be Cold War.
The black ops 1 1911 is the G.O.A.T of all of them. But followed closely behind that one is the MW2019 version. The care given to these weapons was fantastic. And I hope that the 2022 MW brings back the feel of the MW2019 one.

As a 1911 owner, no depiction has been more truly accurate than the MW2019 version.

Every gun in modern warfare pretty much was the best version of it thanks to the incredible animation and sound design lil Im super excited for the one coming out this year, MW really gives me the tingles as a gun nut
Fun fact, Harrison Ford was taught the current military tactics at the time when he was shooting his blaster in star wars as Han Solo, one handed and his other hand out for balance, that’s how soliders and police were trained to shoot a pistol.
Also in Call of Duty 3 the 1911’s slide doesn’t lock back when you’re out of ammo.
The M1911 got a ghost patch that buffed it in MW2019 and was my favorite pistol and I got all the camos for the pistols minus obsidian. In hard core it's a one shot up to 40 meters making it a great "OH shite I'm out" gun in a pinch. The skin you got from pre-ordering MW2 remastered was beautiful modernization that you don't feel bad for dumping attachments on it, it's is a shame that the skin is locked away now.
A very iconic pistol in real life and in this franchise. I love it in Modern Warfare, WAW, Black Ops 1, COD MW 2019 and in Cold War.
Just a bit of trivia about how Call of Duty even came into existence, the developers were literally some of the creative minds behind some of the Medal of Honor games, so if anyone has any memorable MoH games, the guys that would later become Infinity Ward were likely the ones that gave you those memories.
The 1911 in cold war is quiet special to me because it's the first gun I maxed out. In multiplayer I made a custom blueprint I nicknamed "Trigga Finga Mk3" (as the name suggest this is the third version of it) and with a trigger finger I can clear a room and have gotten plays with it before. In zombies I have it dueled wield and made it to focus on accuracy, while in multiplayer it was focus on ADS speed. I have the pistols all in zombie diamond. And my friends and cousins who I play with sometimes know I'm a deadly marksman when I have that classic in my hand.
1911 was literally my go to weapon for zombie in cold war, i would literally only use it because it's incredible if you keep upgrading it and get headshots. The only time I wouldn't use it is if I was working on a challenge for a new weapon or camo farming. But that was when I still played the game and that stopped at like season 2.
My favorite has got to be modern warfare 2019. its got it all, expert animations, meaty sounds, and a realistic feel. Also, the maps in modern warfare 2019 seem to have the most detail out of all. the games, shot a compressed airtank? it explodes ad moves around the room! I love it so much.
Do the AK next, since it’s apparently in Halo as well ;)

So it was taught to be shot one handed at first, but shooter performance increased as soon as troops started using two hands (mostly due to the weight of the gun and the amount of recoil it produced when fired.) It was held with the shooter's firing hand in the regular firing position and their support hand cupped under the magazine clasping the shooting hand. This was once again modified from the cupped hands to the more common nowadays double hand clasp around the grip

The Black Ops M1911 might be my favorite due to it's Nickel Plating and Meaty sound effect that makes me feel like the .45 ACP monster of a handgun that it is.

My favourite from the franchise is and likely will never change. The BO1 M1911 is just extremely appealing to me, in its animations, look and feel.
Something about how the soldier handles the gun is very smooth. The single reload is swift and has that crisp metallic BO1 pistol reload sound. The animations of the dual wield M1911 are iconic, with the flip reloads and one handed slide racks.
On top of that, in zombies the weapon was a behemoth.
For me, the black ops 1 M1911 has not been topped yet.
I feel like you could do more iconic video game weapons justice with these vids, so maybe the super shotgun or BFG-9000 could be a good evolution video. Keep up the amazing work LNG.

I feel like the Call of Duty 1 version of the 1911 had that little quirk in the ADS animations (where the sights are technically improperly aligned) was probably unintentional, but when playing, to me, it feels like a nod to the fact that guns IRL have small quirks in their bullet spread and where the bullets will go compared to how you aim, and the character is just compensating for the fact that they _know_ their sidearm will shoot a little high. Though if that were actually the case you would still see the sights more aligned than they actually are, but when reading too much into an unintentional oversight to get more out of a game from 2003 you have to stretch things just a little!
In all seriousness though, love the video! You can definitely tell that for a few years, there, the quality really suffered from the yearly release schedule when the resources just weren't quite there to properly support that business model for the series. Especially with Treyarch's dodgy un-gloved hand models during that time.
I think in keeping with ww2 weapons the M1 Garand would be a good one as that has also featured in a lot of games
I really like Cold War's because of the way it's accurate to how it would've been used/reloaded while also having a stylish asthetic
The black ops version is so nostalgic because of how many hundreds of hours I put into the zombies of that game, so good
18:20 LMAO it sounds like someone's tapping a snare drum in a long hallway. I wouldn't be surprised if the devs just took a stock snare drum sound effect and added an echo to it.
I'm 100% here for non Halo videos. It can be kinda tough for channels to shed their "brand" but I'll watch anything you do since every video clearly feels like something you want to make.
I'd love to see you get around to the evolution of the either the m1 garand/derivitives or the AK/derivitives in the Cod series. I think that would be cool.
