That's a great tip -- I'll have to add it to another video. And if you haven't checked out the core video yet, we posted it last week! ua-cam.com/video/ru_KsM8Rgh0/v-deo.html Thanks so much!
I agree !! Your core is the glue that helps the skier to work between the 2 platforms . . . the slope below and the torso/arms above. PSIA only regards it as upper and lower body separation. That's not the whole picture. Thanks for sharing !! :)
Great video and tips, love the mind shift of going out on icy days to get improve, then reap the rewards in your future skiing. I vote yes for the core training video and want to say thanks for putting out some much great advice and knowledge.
Watch the video in slow motion. Is she really weighting the outside ski as much as she says she is? As she brings her skis beneath her body, is she bending (flexing up) her knees and staying low or is she extending her legs and rising up? Why is this important? What are the crucial elements that lead to edge grip on ice? Could a one-legged skier also achieve grip on ice? If so, then "weighting the outside ski" is not the critical component.
Hey Emm! thanks for the comment. Your inside ski will have about 10 percent of the pressure. Skiing on one ski is actually a really fun drill to do, have you tried it? In that case, the same concept applies, if your weight is too far inside you will lose your grip and fall over!
Ski specific core exercises would be great. Love your channel and great tips. I'd add angulation vs inclination when weighting the outside ski.

Thanks so much! Will definitely work on putting together that core workout video.
Thank you! I'm from Pennsylvania, USA. Ice is pretty much all there is! If you ever do a ski/workout retreat, I'm in!
That sounds amazing! I might just have to plan for that one day...

Would love a core exercise video !
In your pivot slips did you mean to point your hips(pelvis) bone across the hill?
theres a couple ways to do the drill, what outcome are you looking for?
I am asking to know if you intented to have pelvis rotation over leg rotation.
You wish you were like us Ontario skiers, on our 'hard pack' LMAO
Another vote for a skiing core exercises video
ha! I'll ski on whatever is available!

I was on a chairlift and someone told me his friend fractured his spine because he was skiing ice with manmade snow. So remember the risk.
It is definitely important to start on easy terrain and only increase the difficulty as you increase your skills, great point!
no clips skiing on actual ice.
It's always tricky working around the weather here in Southern Alberta! While I don't have clips of skiing on just ice, the tipps all still apply :)
