Regarding the whole aspect of this reminding us of "reality", it honestly IS really disrespectful that Disney would choose the story of a child who got kidnapped, abused, forcefully converted, who died in her 20's, etc. into a rom-com that has her falling in love with someone who was never a good person in the first place.
Plus the man who represents the husband Pocahontas's father wanted her to marry (Kocoum ) was her ACTUAL husband in real life history (before she was taken to Jamestown). But the movie straight up turned him into a cold, anti-social person who gets killed off, which is pretty insensitive.
Ironically, one of the few somewhat accurate parts of Disney's bogus Pocahontas story is that John Smith was in fact injured in what Wiki calls an "accidental explosion of gunpowder in a canoe" (not a gunshot wound) and did successfully return to England following the injury. However, rather than Disney's tearful and melancholy farewell, it seems that perhaps the colonists were like, "Oh, gee...you're injured. That's so sad. You should probably leave and never come back."
Honestly, Grandmother Willow, Meeko, Flit and Percy were the best characters with the best moments in the film.
You gotta understand, the Epic Voice has a pass to call movies whatever it wants at this point and even if we disagree we most likely won't get too upset.
Next thing you'll know, disney will spin the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki as a romance story however the f cking creative way they can

At 5:10, Bunny? It's okay. Let it out, it's the beginning of wisdom. The sad truth is that John Smith DID exist. He was in his 40's to 60's at the time. P was a 12 year old girl that got kidnapped to the big city, and basically was forced into becoming a sex slave. It's okay. This is what Walt Disney does. He steals other people's truth, content, or accomplishments, then pays people to give him credit for it while making it all look family friendly & cute.
