I LOVE my X1. Great gas mileage and easy to park in tight spots. I drive from Destin,FL to past Atlanta ,Ga consistently every 3-4 months and put many miles on my 2018 X1 and have NO issues. It is great getting through Atlanta traffic and the interstates. It is an awesome car !

Great review, but that is not the 2018 model.
This is still the 2017 model. It could be that the new,new BMW X1 (2018) is considered to be the 2019 model.
The 2018 model (end of February) has a black instrument dial and a completely different gear shifter (more elegant, like the 3- and 5- series).
Anyway apart from the small differences between 2017 and 2018, the X1 is still a great car.
Btw rear view camera is mandatory now in the US apparently.

Front wheel based drive, looks like a Mazda and drives like one, engine noise piped into the cabin, over 400 watts less stereo power for the same price, electronic steering vs old school, ZF transmission vs Japanese (Aisin) transmission, 3 years maintenance vs 4 years... I prefer the old x1. Check out Mazda vs BMW comparisons. I’m writing this because I own the older model X1 and thought about upgrading, but decided against it because of the reasons above among others. I kept my old X1 and decided on an Alfa Romeo because it was so much better to drive and looked a hell of a lot better.

Your old X1 has less space and looks smaller over all. The new one is way better, sorry. I can assure you it's no crap Mazda lol

The 1st generation bmw looked horrible and was way too small. The 2nd gen X1 is smaller than the X3 from the exterior noticeably, but they have almost the same boot capacity and the X1 has more back-seat room. They're planning to make the 3rd gen X1 even bigger and have an electric variant, I can't wait to see how expensive that's going to be lol
But personally I wouldn't go for an alfa romeo unless I was older and rich and didn't care about it burning a hole in my pocket. My uncle had a new alfa and it didn't last longer than a year and a half till the problems started to come.

@@jonathan6665 they do run off the same platform but they're completely different in size. X1 is significantly larger and has a simple interior while the countryman is smaller like a hatchback and has a more complex futuristic looking interior

My BMW dealer service associate said, if you want realiabily go and buy Lexus or Toyota or Chevy. Is that true?. I bought BMW X1. Day after the free service is over at 40K mileage dealer said there is oil leakage from the engine. Very disappointed with BMW X1. Very unreliable vehicle as per BMW service associate.
