The woman who allegedly inspired Richard Gadd’s hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer will give her first TV interview this Thursday (9 May).
In the series, comedian Richard Gadd plays a fictionalised version of himself who gets stalked by a lonely and mentally ill woman called Martha, whom he meets while working at a pub.
Following the series’ success curious fans have tried to discover the inspirations behind the show, which members of the cast have vehemently discouraged.
Scottish lawyer Fiona Harvey, 58, who has been labelled the ‘real Martha’ has received death threats from Baby Reindeer viewers and will speak on Piers Morgan Uncensored to “set the record straight after being unmasked by fans”.

The harrowing tale follows barman Donny Dunn as his life falls apart at the hands of an obsessive stalker - played by Jessica Gunning, 38, - after he offers her a cup of tea in a London bar.
The deranged Baby Reindeer maniac bombarded the comic with more than 41,000 emails, 744 tweets, 100 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemails over a four year reign of terror
Gadd claimed he went to great lengths to conceal the identity of the woman who stalked him in real life and has begged fans not to search for her.

Im sorry I don’t get why people are coming for Gadd. Like he’s the first person to ever make a true story show or movie. Furthermore, he portrayed himself as being broken and a stalker himself. He enabled her, he doesn’t go out of his way to make her look horrible, she had redeeming qualities from what I saw in the show. He doesn’t portray himself to be some hero, he’s broken and full of flaws.
True, but he should've been advised better on how to better hide her identity and on the possible major fall-out that would follow, but the Netflix people were too greedy to think of real life consequences.

She outed herself. He has the right to use the messages and emails sent to him.. he could have even legally published them without changing her name. As journalists or true crime writers do. As the reporter, Neil Sears, is doing here and Andy is doing by quoting him.
Her legal issues make her already a public figure. And people can legally do biographies, memoirs or even loosely base things on real events. It's legal.
No, Netflix did cover themselves legally. This was already a hot play. So it's hardly new as far as the material for her to object to. But she didn't. Instead she kept up her ranting and did some of the stalking while he was doing his shows.
The internet is going to internet, sadly.
He doesn't owe her anonymity. He and Jesdica portrayed her with much nuance and charm besides exposing the ill and scary aspects of her character.

She wasn’t convicted for anything in The Gadd case, it was just a restraining order, but maybe with the previous case she was.
After watching a few episodes there is no way I would give that woman my number.
Piers Morgan is a journalist. He reports on what is going on in the world. He’s interviewed serial killers and other people who have done horrible things before. He’s not just letting her spin her narrative, he is asking very pointed questions and is calling her out on things that she allegedly lied about before.
Well, the guy who made the Netflix show should have known that it would end like that.

I’m not sure why mental health services haven’t got involved. The criteria for sectioning in the UK is essentially if you’re a danger to yourself or others. If nothing else she’s a danger to herself and emotionally dangerous (at a minimum) to others.
Where’s the intervention?
I am wondering the same thing, honestly. Maybe they already have, and we just don't know about it. I don't want her sectioned unless it is absolutely necessary! But I'm concerned about how she is handling all of this.

I think there appears to be a part of her that’s enjoying the attention but at what cost? She’s putting herself at risk with this, she’s also causing distress to others. Surely someone should at least consider some form of intervention?
This would have calmed right down by now if it weren’t for ‘Martha’ pretty much outing herself. Most of us would have been far more concerned with the ‘Darrien’ character given his disgusting level of sadism. I think she’s walking on thin ice and clearly failing to consider the consequences. It’s troubling and I don’t think the press should be entertaining it.

I am part of a you tube group where 3 people are being stalked by one person and exactly like that. It starts friendly and in a blink they are child rrr,s and drug smuglers, one has a 12 year old son who the person wrote a letter to, the others daughter was harassed, everytime they have guest speaker on their channels, the guest will also start getting harassed. They have 3 different county police forces involved in this case.
I would not expect any less from a person with that background. This is a case of Martha being Martha. 😅

You can’t poke a mentally ill woman and not expect her to do mentally ill things. For some I guess the money, prestige or dopamine hit of sleuthing is worth it. This obviously doesn’t excuse her actions at the same time though. Not sure what can be done from here.

Mental health is complicated. There is a difference between mental health issues like PTSD or depression, and mental illnesses like schizophrenia.
I don't advocate medicating to "fix" what a person is going through but there is a line.
This woman is very clearly in need of help and support, and laughing about what she is doing does not help her recovery, or stop her from passing toxic radiation on to the people she stalks.
Something triggered her to become like this.
When it gets to a point where there is a real threat of harm, someone needs to step in and take control to help her.

As a reminder - pop stars make songs about their exes, internet sleuths decide who it, and then harass the person. This is an established media practice so I suggest consistency in outcomes.
I think this case is extra strange because she is “owning” this role to the max. She could simply deny, delete old posts, and any sleuths would eventually lose interest. She has a hand in creating focus on herself - just as described in the video.
When and where does it air ?
It sounds like she has a need to be noticed, that she clings on to anyone who does take notice.
Bc she’s the kind to project, wonder if her calling him bipolar gave away that this was a diagnosis she was given. I’ve heard it suggested, but I lean more towards a personality disorder (Narcissism).
