    I've seen some other tutorials where people talk too much about unrelated stuff. But yours are very professional and go in depth by explaining each step. Good job and thanks for your time and patience. Subscribed.

    I love your tutorials, very didactic, clear voice, not to speed. The pointer moves slowly and just for the explanations, not incessantly in every directions like in many other tutos. Your Fuzzy stuffed bear tutos is really great. Thanks a lot...

    I have a condition called MND / ALS I have no movement at all. I spend a great deal of time on my computer with a straw in my mouth to control the GUI. This video is simple but informative in its description of the process. Thank you for giving me another target to achieve.

    Just want to give my thanks to the author of these videos. Your tutorials are concise without being short, descriptive without being overwhelming, and easy to follow without being trivial. Could not ask for better tutorials for beginners to Blender -- which itself isn't the easiest tool to use out of the box!

    Using keyboard commands really speeds up the workflow in blender. It's highly recommended that users learn them. N to show/hide the view properties, T to show/hide the toolbox, ctrl+r to loop cut, s/r/g to scale rotate and grab, E to extrude from selected. These shortcuts alone will greatly speed up modeling.

    So far these tutorials on blender are the best i have seen, perfect tempo just with the information you need. Many tutorials get confusing cause they miss several steps of what they are doing and often they talk like they have taken speed or something. On top of that many tutorials just give too much unnecessary information making it even harder to follow.
    Thank you so much!

    Loving your tutorials, thanks heaps. This time though I've run into a problem. When I select 'unwrap' the result is just an orange square in the UV window, rather than the flattened cup you get. The result was that the texture was applied to each face, rather than the entire cup. I tried different forms of unwrapping, they worked better, but the texture always had some alignment problems.

    • @toolpot462
      @toolpot462 9 років тому +3

      Buffoon1980 I've figured out the issue. Maybe you have, already, too, but here it is: when you add the modifiers to your object, *don't* press apply for either modifier. This will leave your wireframe with fewer subdivisions, so it unwraps properly.

    • @rlr5048
      @rlr5048 9 років тому

      Buffoon1980 what version of blender are you using? I've found that version 2.74 unwraps properly for me.

    • @scattershotshow
      @scattershotshow 9 років тому

      Buffoon1980 Late to the party, but just in case someone comes across this. The issue was that I needed to mark the seams of my object before unwrapping it.

    • @whitehorsemilitia
      @whitehorsemilitia 10 років тому +1

      tom slick I don't think either is as realistic than the other because I tried both renders and always got the same results, I have used the compositor but still new to it. I'm sticking with the blender render because I am familiar with it and I not exactly using Blender for show, I'm using it for a more productive base like making animated movies.

      Prophet of Despair yeah, i didnt want to switch to cycles either, because i was used to it to. but i just figured that i had to try to keep up with the times, also it looks more realistic too me. but i hate that cycles causes fireflies, I HATE THOSE THINGS!!LOL they are such a pain to get rid of. i guess they both got their good and bad points.

    I have a problem with your methods. Although you're teaching people how to model, you're not teaching Blender. You're avoiding shortcuts, and using Blender without its shortcuts is like programming in assembly language. It works, but you will take a lot longer to finish your work. Even worse, you're teaching the shortcut for grabbing in a window and using arrows to do the same in another. A beginner may end up believing that 'G' is meant for moving UV layouts.

    • @theactualtruth4996
      @theactualtruth4996 10 років тому +26

      You're completely missing the point. This is supposed to be a beginner's tutorial. For beginners, doing as much as you can with point-and-click and menus is the easiest way. Using the shortcuts is for more advances users, after the users have already become comfortable with the basics of Blender.

      I agree this video was very helpful for me. I have gone through other tuts that just use shortcuts and the end result was .. you know the B key tool .. what tool is that and how do I find it in a menu. Learning to navigate the software through its menus is a must and at my current learning level shortcuts are great, but don't really tell me what the tool is.

    This is the best Blender tutorial I have seen after watching many dozens. Your pacing is perfect (many tutorials go too fast, but people who need a tutorial also need the kind of comfortable pacing you've presented). I also liked that you used menu choices where possible, instead of just using keyboard shortcuts all the time (seeing the menu choices makes it much easier to follow). And, you included other tips and "best practices" along the way, so viewers learn to be better with Blender overall. Thanks much!

  • @gerardjanssen
    @gerardjanssen 10 років тому

    This is a very good tutorial, clean and to the point, it makes it easier to absorb the information. The way you do your tutorials without all the shortcuts is also better. That helps you learn where the commands are in the menu system. The person who commented that you are missing the shortcuts should think again, learning the way the menu works is much better than trying to remember all the shortcuts. You will forget a shortcut, but you will know where to find it in the menu when you learn the commands first! Keep up the good work.

    Very good tutorial - and I've watched a ton of them. For those of you new to Blender, this tutorial is still very useful although it's 2 years old (at comment date). We're at version 2.77 now, but the GUI is still very similar to 2.68 used here. Blender is one of the best pieces of software ever written, but it's GUI is non-standard enough to make the learning curve of an already sophisticated tool difficult. LittleWebHut's approach brings out those gems that make it easier. Thanks!

    You learn a lot from these tutorials, I found this way the best, view each tutorial 3 times.
    View 1 - Copy what this guy is doing
    View 2 - Copy what this guy is doing but only by listening to him
    View 3 - Do it on your own.
    By this point you have the skill to make a cup, which is like a tray, or a lamp or a vase and you are able to add any kind of texture.
    You are learning even without thinking

    I absolutely love all your tutorials :) They really got me into blender this time, after I deleted it about 2 years ago because it made no sense :)
    Thank you :)

    Wow...perfect again. I like the length of these vids too. In addition to being clear...and geared for beginners (or people like me who need a lot of repetition of basic concepts), I like the "to the point" approach. Thanks again!

    Thank you. The best tutorial on this program I've found yet. Very detailed and I was able to produce the results very easily...now, will I remember it all? Sure.

    You are spectacular and this tut is flawless. But no matter how far I zoomed out, I never saw a lamp, so I just added one! Turned out great!

    Love your tutorials. They are so clear and concise with plenty of detailed instruction. Made notes this time around as I am moving on to using materials to make my creations more realistic and this tutorial was a good start.Will be looking at more of your tutorials in order to get better at material creation and hope you would be wiling to add more on this subject if I find a need because of the clarity I find here on your channel. Thank you again for your help in advancing my knowledge of Blender.

    You have done great work. The best tutorial I´ve ever seen. Congratulations and greetings from Finland! Some features (using version 2.72) have been changed since you made this video, but it was so, so helpful. You solved many problems I´ve encounted. The problems with my mouse are still bothering. But it's an other story. Thanks a'lot!

    This gives a very good use of blender on how Basic Texturing with images as it states. I watched several other videos that were too fast or not specific and used alternate maybe too advanced ways of doing similar things. None of them used the standard views provided in the native use of the program. This one did and is version non-specific so it crosses into 2.79b as well. Thank you for this tutorial. No longer pulling out my hair.
