I am SO proud of you for just walking those last kilometers!! You have grown SO much in the last couple years. congratulations! about the sickness, i am experiencing that right now too after traveling all over europe. do you think it’s sun/heat sickness? all of the symptoms you described i’ve had and the only way i could get them to go away was by cooling off for more than 6 hours inside and hydrating constantly (sipping water/sports drinks). i got more nauseous being outside at all and the longer i was outside, the longer i was nauseous indoors. i have been fairly hydrated too-more than 2 litres of fluids a day.

Well done you both! I ran a 5k running race today. It was also so warm here in the Netherlands, but that is nothing compared to what you both did and that also 42 kilometers..

I'm from Singapore and many people have told me that if you can survive a race in Sg, you can race anywhere. Now watching you run, it is definitely true. The heat and humidity can really make one slower... much slower.

Oh you should have met up with Ben and Mary from This Messy Happy. They won the marathon relay. They’ve lived in Thailand for a few years now so they have acclimatised to the insane heat. Well done on pushing through, that looked tough 🥵🥵

Well done Holly- fab effort. Take some time to rest up! Maybe a trail hilly ultra marathon as your next challenge? Haha- I would actually really recommend! Just a heads up most road races have officially banned headphones now (including Berlin Marathon).

I live in Derbyshire and there's loads here. It'd probably be a much better experience in the Uk as they are so common its a really nice community vibe (and cooler weather!)
I know how tough it is. I ran phayao lake 10k and samui half which was on the same day as your race. The heat and humidity is mental. Great experience. Next stop halong bay heritage marathon on 19th nov
Amazing run still. Phuket is one of the toughest route in South East Asian. But you two did great!!! amazing and inspiring. come to malaysia for Kuala Lumpur Marathon :)

Holly, it is not too surprising that you had difficulty running this marathon. What you should also realize that Thailand is always very hot and humid 12 months a year and you are not used to running in this type of weather. You are more used to standard English weather in which the temperatures are on the cooler side. Did you and Angelo win the race?
Credit to you for finishing it though Holly! Most people would have just given up after they thought their race was over! That shows how mentally tough you are ❤
