its so crazy that richard christie, who is such a goofball hayseed and spent years doing prank calls on the howard stern show is such a good metal drummer
I listened to metal, in my youth, and at the same time also jazz .. When I happened to run into Death (and therefore Chuck) for the first time, I realized that there was something much higher, more sought after in the music than this incredible band .. I think the music is like a dress: today I wear this, tomorrow this other .. I can listen to Pat Metheny and have fun, but if I need it today I listen to Death and enjoy it the same way. I have always listened to music of quality and compositional depth. This is what I found in Death and in Chuck. The greatness of this boy, both musically and humanly, does not have many equals. From what I could read about him, especially after his untimely death, it makes me think that this world turns backwards: the great people are torn from us, and the pieces of shit remain (I just need to see all the politicians of the world and various delinquents).

Freshly Squeezed Tap Water i Love death metal even to bands like suffocation and abominable putridity and full slam. But death are the best. Chuck was clever when picking talented people for his band like gene hoglan. His later stuff was able to add melody, prog and quality lyrics while still keeping the grit and heaviness of their. 80s stuff. Even control denied is incredible
I agree with you. Most “extreme” music is edgy dogshit. Death, and Chuck, wrote about real things in the world from a realistic view. Aside from their first album, of course. Which Chuck himself said was “blood and guts childish fantasies”
Chuck is a perfect example of that theory is really unnecessary, people want to hear your musical voice, not how you can use the same scale in the same way everyone does

The only reason I got into Death was because when I was buying a 12" version of Hangar 18 in Our Price in Newcastle I spotted Spiritual Healing and it had a big red sticker on it saying "Warning -Death Metal". Ive still got the album but not the sticker 😂
Ah the song that started it all for me. I'm glad this was the first death song I listened to and not something off SBG. I'm not the biggest fan of most of the songs on SBG

God of Metal.
Ozzy and early black sabbath are the metal gods. Chuck Schuldiner was the metal grandfather, shaping its form.
No....Hate Forest is a god of Metal....
Love the crowd's reaction to the intro to this song. They all know The Philosopher. \m/ Hell yes.

Great musician. Amazing human being.
What a great band it was.
Chuck was a genious, much respect. 🤘🤘
not an old fan but easily the greatest band i’ve heard when it comes to extreme music
Yeah. Death is where extreme metal begins and ends

The best answer! Chuck was humble as fuck, no gimmicks no nonsense. An incredible human being, in many ways. One of THE best, no questions
I have this concert in VHS.... is just fantastic, one can feel the energy of this band... is awesome, thanks for sharing.
le sue canzoni mi danno la carica per superare le merdate della vita grazie Chuck R.I.P.
It's crazy how much they ignore the drummers in live video recordings
So annoying. Their work in keeping the band anchored is grossly underrated.
Haha metal drummers are to music what pro cyclists are to the sports world. They put in the most demanding shift and get least recognition!

For all those who think that everything after spiritual healing is shit, how the fuck is this bad?
Luke Joynes because they prefer more thrashy sounding metal that they can mosh to or something. but all the later albums are great imo
Relax, few think that.
Who thinks like that? I've never heard someone call anything from Death "shit". Death is a prime example of perfect flawless discography.
Never heard anyone say any of their albums are bad. From what I hear it's 50/50 on people who prefer their newer stuff or older stuff.
