Present track between chennai to Madurai is not suitable for high speed !.Trains may speed upto 110-120 kmph!.No more!. The track should be upgraded(strengthened) from the present 52Kg/ foot to 60Kg ( heavier ) track.Then the train can go more than 160 kmph.Because of the present weak tracks, cracks appear periodically due to too much usage and wear resulting in cutting the cracked section and welding new section every week!.

This train is ideal for long distance straight tracks!.Chennai Bangalore track is full of sharp curves with up and down gradients which limits the speed to maximum 120-130 kmph in straight sections!.lf we try yo run this as nonstop service between chennai and Bangalore,we can hope for travel time between 3 and 1/2 to 4 hours only! Nothing faster than that!.
