    I’ve started viewing alcohol drinks as kerosene hiding in a tasty well marketed beverage. I’m about a month and a half free. So far it’s working. Also training for a half marathon. That helps too.
    56 and feeling great!
    Good luck out there!

    One and a half month on Naltrexone and TSM. My condition drastically changed from one litre of Vodka every single day to 3/4 cans of beer (or 3/4 glasses of wine) 3 or 4 days per week. I can't drink Vodka or Whisky anymore cause it makes me fell awful. TSM had already saved me. Even thou extinction is yet a far condition and even if I face some "come back" during the process. God, it's working. It's working! 15 days no black outs, no overdrinkins, no embarassing situations. This little pill is saving my life. Thank you all.

    Hi Katie, I just want to says thank you very much for your amazing video on explaining the Sinclair Method. I've been an alcoholic for the past 10 years and I never referred to myself as such because to my knowledge, it was either all or nothing. I don't see myself being abstinent so I lied to my doctor and psychotherapist (depression) about my alcohol excess for years. When I found TSM trough Claudia Christian's TED talk and then your videos, I had to give it a try. I'm on day 2 using Naltrexone and I cannot believe the difference. I drank day one and tonight but what blow my mind is both days, I didnt drink every last beer I had in the fridge. That as never happened in years. I'm writing these line sipping on a herbal tea before I go to bed. Thank you again :)

    @6:47 Re: AA low success rate - The typical reason /explanation of the low success rate in AA is a simple fact "AA 12-step program is not addiction treatment" - AA 12-step program is a support group only.
    At a 12-step program is one single component of a comprehensive multifaceted addiction treatment protocol.

    Alcohol cravings =
    p a w s = Post acute withdrawal syndrome. Translation of
    p a w s; your addiction is still active - typically post acute withdrawals will end after 12 to 18 months sober without any alcohol consumption.
    Cravings = active addiction.

    Hey Katie!! I just wanted to say thank you for the information on the "Sinclair method". Although in my stage of recovery I choose to look at it as i can not drink ever again because of the road it leads me to and i just can't take that chance, I feel it's very important to talk about the different options there are. On my channel I like to talk about how I didn't just use AA as an outlet but I used many different resources because i have ADHD and sticking to one thing wasn't seeming to work for me. So finding out new ways that I can share with people is amazing. Thank you for your service!!

    Oh how I’ve missed you! Someone who has dealt with her own journey in alcohol I see it many ways! You are awesome for being honest and showing your personal experience and what helped you! I think it’s so important for us in are 30s to make people aware this is an issue for many and there are so many avenues to help! AA was the only thing given to past generations nothing wrong w it but for it to be the only way to sobriety is not truth! I think so many should share their own plan of action to sobriety and hopefully we can add these together and have so many tools in the sobriety tool box anyone can find a way to do it! Have you read the Naked Mind! In 2020 we should have many methods and it should be individual instead of this one size fits all

    Before I saw your videos on Sinclair method, my GP gave me the prescription for Naltrexone. She said to take it once a day... didn't bother to say TAKE AN HOUR BEFORE DRINKING. Huge difference. 3 days in and it seems to be working. Had a drink in front of me last night and it just sat there. Not calling this a success just yet as I've been to treatment 3 times back in 2011. Had some time in sobriety. Then COVID hit and the drinks went down and FAST. Really want to get sober this time. Tired of the constant hangovers and losing relationships over my behavior.

      I quit drinking almost 2 years ago thanks to this method (so I no longer take naltrexone). But if someone goes on naltrexone, they should plan to take it 1 hour before they drink for the duration of the time they're drinking. Hope that helps!

    Hello, I watched several of your videos. Watched one small pill documentary and Claudia’s Ted talk. I really want to give Sinclair method a try but I couldn’t find anywhere how to start it and what is the daily dose. Am I supposed to take the pill everyday at certain hour or just before I consume alcohol. I consume alcohol twice a week but that easily turns into binge drinking last couple years. That is why I was wondering what should be the dosage and frequency when you first start. If you can answer me or send me resources to read I really appreciate it. Thank you for your reply in advance.

      hello! did you see this video: ua-cam.com/video/GjzNMjlf3KA/v-deo.html TSM essentially is taking 1 50mg tablet of naltrexone 1 hour before drinking. Following this method, naltrexone is only taken 1 hour before drinking. It is not necessary to take it daily. I hope that helps!

    I've been curious about naltrexone even though I haven't had a drop in almost two years-cold turkey. Would just like the cravings to go away. Do you take it everyday or just before drinking?

    What if you crave the next drink or shot when buying drinks when at a bar or restaurant? Like the brain wanting more, even if you can't afford it, or you feel you had enough, but you just want to continue?
    Some stop at tipsy, but I've become so used to binge drinking That I want to get drunk. Is that psychological addiction, or an early onset of addiction? Or just something that happens to most that drinks alcohol for its effects.
    I sometimes think of being totally sober in life, because I'm scared of that craving feeling.

    • @thrivealcoholrecovery

      That's a common issue for a lot of people, once started it's hard to stop. Naltrexone and the Sinclair Method can really help to reduce and remove that craving over time. if you want to speak with a doctor about getting the prescription, here is a directory of TSM physicians: cthreefoundation.org/telemedicine

    So I told myself that Id quite for a year..Its been much longer,I dont think I have any physical addiction to alcohol after drinking for the most part, and I drank hard...everyday for 50 years.I dont even really have cravings except that when my wife and family,friends get together everybody drinks except for me,thats when I miss it.So my question is,I would like to indulge once in a while,but I dont want to be like I was before I stopped..Would the Sinclair method work for me? Thanks for your help :)

    • @thrivealcoholrecovery
      @thrivealcoholrecovery  4 роки тому

      Hi Scott! The Sinclair Method could work. I've known people who transitioned from sobriety/AA to TSM with success. I would definitely recommend that you work with a doctor or counselor who is experienced in TSM. You can find physicians here: cthreefoundation.org/telemedicine And, I might also suggest you are certain you want to return to drinking. If you're not having much desire and are doing well with sobriety, that might be good to stay with that (just my opinion). But if your desire to drink on occasion is strong, TSM could be an option for you for sure. Wish you well!

    It would be wise to advise this can be dangerous for anyone with a heavy drinking problem. This might work for light drinkers but it was a nightmare for me. Very bad nausea, dehydration, and withdrawal symptoms. I was planning on tapering off but it was very difficult holding any alcohol down. As soon as I took a drink I would throw up. It did remove the cravings and the alcohol tasted disgusting, but my body didn't know that. I couldn't even hold water down. It also put me in a very weird head space. It might work for some, but I am never trying this medication again. The withdrawals from not being able to drink under this medication were painful and dangerous.

      @@thrivealcoholrecovery it all ended up being ok. It just didn't work for me personally. I ended up doing a detox at a hospital and am now on day six of sobriety. I tried the tapering off method but my liver was so bad I couldn't afford to have another drink. I have not have had any cravings after the withdrawals went away and I will never touch the stuff again. I have nothing to gain from it and everything to lose from it. Good luck to you all and thank you for doing your best to help those in need. God knows everyone in our condition needs all the help possible.
