I just got my Panda Pixel yesterday and I did notice that either the blue tint shift has been over blown by the media or that something was enhanced on my Pixel so that it is not so bad. The colors are still extremely muted though...the software is AMAZING though! Very happy with it.
Antone Johnson Have you broken any necks yet with that Panda Pixel? 🐼 lol. Really wanted it as well but couldn't wait any longer so I got the "just black" model.
Isaac Minjares Haha! I actually have! Had quite a few people ask me to see it. It's a pretty rare site and, with all the commercials, people are super curious to check it out.
Mr2pint I like the screen on my S8+ better, but as for the overall experience, I prefer my Pixel. The camera on the Pixel blows the doors off the S8+ and the software experience is much quicker and a joy to use. I have nothing against Samsung, as I buy pretty much all of their phones, but I think the Pixel is a better experience right now. If all that matters to you is hardware, the Note 8 is the best phone on the market right now imo.
Mohannad Kattan They are supposed to address the colors in an update. I haven't put any beta software on mine, so it still is what it is. My eyes have actually already adjusted themselves to it, as I haven't used my S8+ since I received the phone. I will see the difference today though when my iPhone X gets delivered. I love the Pixel though! Incredible software!
I agree with a lot of the comments I'm reading. I have the panda pixel 2 XL and I'm really enjoying it. The color balance is not as vibrant as my samsung was, but the overall experience is way better! It's so smooth it just make any interaction with it so easy.
+Gavin why? That is not how I naturally use the display. It's about showing a real world experience, I don't care if it "looks pretty" if you want scripted videos I'm not that dude.
Jeff Springer lol dude it has nothing to do with real world use. The screen timeout is just a nuisance for you and the viewer because you had to keep tapping the screen and the dimming effect was distracting when we're here trying to look closely at any differences. It also has nothing to do with scripts. I have no idea why you mentioned that. You can still improv your way through the video but temporarily turning off screen timeout makes it better for both you and the viewer.
Maybe you have Adaptive brightness turned on one of the phones but not the other. That changes the apparent temperature color of the display. Thank you for your videos!!
Thanks!! I hope they did change something I returned my black version because of the blue shift, I had a feeling they would do something to make it slightly better latter on.
If you get it thru Verizon does it come with Verizon bloatware? I want to use it on Project Fi, and I'd definitely like it totally clean. Is it worth just waiting for the Google store to get more stock?
Thanks for this comparison of the colors. I really wanted the Panda, but after seeing this. I agree the black is best due to its slightly different feel and doesn't have that white outline which slightly takes away from the screen. I'll be getting the black on now. :)
I wanted to like this phone because the software is great and buttery smooth, but even as you tilt it slightly here and there while holding it, I can see the blue shift happening. A shift 30 degree off angle it would be ok, but not 5 degrees. Can't unsee.
+Pierre Marcelin it does drain battery if you run it on aggressive mode, if you run it on default mode where it only colors app by app it doesn't impact battery or performance much.
i think the blue shift will be the most annoying out in the bright day light , when you get a reflection on the screen on a sunny day , automatically you tilt the phone in such a way the reflection is gone but puts the device on a fair angle to the eyes . either way the nasty blue shift is a poor show for such an expensive device .
+mikldude yeah the blue shift is annoying but for such a great camera and smooth UI I'm learning to deal with it, others have to decide if they can do that as well.
Can you check to see about the blotchiness on the 🐼 Pixel? When you opened up the Phone app you could somewhat tell that the top portion of your white screen was a bit dark looking compared to the center and bottom of the display 🤔 Mine has that as well and it makes the colors look darker on the top portion of my display.
Jeff Springer Thanks for the reply! So it's called a grain effect? Yeah it's more noticeable at low brightness and I'm assuming it's on all Pixel 2 XL devices then?
Gavin Not sure what it's called but it's something that causes the colors on the top part of my display to look darker and when you look at it with a gray or white screen it looks like a black smudge. Does yours have this?

Antone Johnson That's awesome man! I should've waited lol. But that's good, getting the Pixel name out there!

+Ray Matthews I don't have a problem with the colors but some people do so it's good to give options.
Which color do you think is better, Black vs Panda?
Weighing the look and the feel would you get the black or panda xl?
Is it worth upgrading to this from the S8?
does the material on the clearly white feel the same as the kind of blue and the panda??
Jeff which one should I get note 8 or pixel 2 xl
I'm stuck between 5 different phones. Don't know which one to pick.
+KVN which 5 phones? Maybe I can help.
I like your video but please just turn off screen timeout when you're doing these display comparisons.
+Gavin why? That is not how I naturally use the display. It's about showing a real world experience, I don't care if it "looks pretty" if you want scripted videos I'm not that dude.
Jeff Springer That's why your videos are so great!

+Gavin I guess we have to agree to disagree my friend. I don't find tapping a screen an inconvenience.
The voicemail icon on the phone app was smaller on the all black model. Did anyone else notice that?
+Tony Kim that's probably because of the Verizon carrier variant vs Google store unlocked
Maybe you have Adaptive brightness turned on one of the phones but not the other. That changes the apparent temperature color of the display. Thank you for your videos!!
+Jeremy Wheeler nope but were set to 39% brightness.
Thanks!! I hope they did change something I returned my black version because of the blue shift, I had a feeling they would do something to make it slightly better latter on.
Currently in the market for a phone.... debating between the pixel 2 XL and 2 other phones soon to be released , the razer phone and the U11 +
Cant wait to get mine. Coming from GPS around the 15th!
+Nocturnal nice!
GPS ? lol
Google Play Store, but forgot now it's just GS, Google Store lol
Bought the Pixel 2 XL and returned it after doing a side by side with a Note 8. Wish I didn't return it after buying the Note 8.
+BostonHooligan08 why's that?
If you get it thru Verizon does it come with Verizon bloatware? I want to use it on Project Fi, and I'd definitely like it totally clean. Is it worth just waiting for the Google store to get more stock?
Thank you for this video. Does the Verizon logo boot up when you power the phone on? Could you also uninstall the Verizon apps?
Thanks for this comparison of the colors. I really wanted the Panda, but after seeing this. I agree the black is best due to its slightly different feel and doesn't have that white outline which slightly takes away from the screen. I'll be getting the black on now. :)
+shiloh6519 glad I could help!
Same deal here. I was going to get the kinda blue p2 or panda xl2 but wasn't keen on that outine look.
I love the Panda 2 XL. 😎
+richiepaidsotv me too. 🐼🐼🐼🐼
Did you have to get a Verizon plan when you purchased? +Jeff Springer
+Jordan Franklin I already had a Verizon plan but no you don’t have to, I always buy my phones full price and you can do that without a Verizon plan.
Jeff Springer how much did you pay for the full price?
I wanted to like this phone because the software is great and buttery smooth, but even as you tilt it slightly here and there while holding it, I can see the blue shift happening. A shift 30 degree off angle it would be ok, but not 5 degrees. Can't unsee.
Something that’s not a video of the Razer Phone
+Genaro S. Jaramillo-Guitton lol no one be sending me review units or I'd have that up, I get no love!
Jeff Springer does Oreo colorizer drain battery or cause performance issue? Thx
+Pierre Marcelin it does drain battery if you run it on aggressive mode, if you run it on default mode where it only colors app by app it doesn't impact battery or performance much.
Jeff Springer ok thx, plz let me know if 8.1 is stable enough for daily usage also. Im scared to run it on my mine.
+Pierre Marcelin will do!
Hmm I guess I'll get the LG v30
+Latin Ace why?
Latin Ace If it’s for the scree, don’t. They use the exact same panel.
Headphone jack. That quad dac would sound awesome on my beats headphones. Also the wide angle lense would be useful.
Good luck with the ugly selfie camera LMAO
Don't listen to anyone try the XL 2 , u might ended up loving it. I got it 2 days ago and I don't have any problem
I'll go with V30
i think the blue shift will be the most annoying out in the bright day light , when you get a reflection on the screen on a sunny day , automatically you tilt the phone in such a way the reflection is gone but puts the device on a fair angle to the eyes .

+mikldude yeah the blue shift is annoying but for such a great camera and smooth UI I'm learning to deal with it, others have to decide if they can do that as well.
I don't have a problem with mine
I personally don't care how much overblown this or any problem is. If I am to allow myself to overcharged for a device, it's got to walk on water.
+Jim McNevin feel ya on that
I'm jelly! I wanted the panda one!
+Orlando Biotechnology it's panda tastic!
can you give me one of them?
Can you check to see about the blotchiness on the 🐼 Pixel? When you opened up the Phone app you could somewhat tell that the top portion of your white screen was a bit dark looking compared to the center and bottom of the display 🤔
Mine has that as well and it makes the colors look darker on the top portion of my display.
+Isaac Minjares yeah at low brightness it still had the grain effect I had brightness on 30% in this video
Jeff Springer Thanks for the reply! So it's called a grain effect?
Yeah it's more noticeable at low brightness and I'm assuming it's on all Pixel 2 XL devices then?
Isaac Minjares I think what you're talking about is uniformity on the screen, not the grain effect.
Gavin Not sure what it's called but it's something that causes the colors on the top part of my display to look darker and when you look at it with a gray or white screen it looks like a black smudge. Does yours have this?
Isaac Minjares I haven't ordered mine yet. Still trying to decide between XL and regular.
Yup, You're crazy.
+Anthony Cabrera that's what they tell me, I'm loco
Penguin 🐧 all day
Taylor Rose what?
