    love the reindeer and sleigh - i made some for x-mas presents a couple years ago , every body loved them. Wondering if you have a 3D template for the "Nutcracker" My granddaughters are in the Nutcracker ballet this Christmas season and i would like to make some for them and the other dancers. Thanks, Harry

    awesome!! It looks like you only used one of the cut 4x4s. What were the other 2 or 3 6" pieces for?

    I would like to purchase the sleigh pattern but I only find a reindeer pattern that is 2 1/2 inches tall. It appears that the sleigh is too large for this pattern and the picture of your deer seem to be bigger as well. Where do I get a pattern for the deer that is proportional to the sleigh? Thanks so much.

      I provide a rain deer pattern at no extra coast, with my sleigh pattern. It is about 5 5/8 inches tall. The finished Sleigh is about 4 5/8 inches tall. Since the rain deer are a caricature of actual rain deer, I feel that size works for this sleigh size.
      Have you seen my video on how I do these rain deer?

    Terry
    In your plans do you list the size blade you use for each application? What do you use for inside cuts when you have them. I am really trying to not by a scroll saw.
    Thank you for your guidance.

    • @terryspade441
      @terryspade441  3 роки тому

      I do not list the size of the blade in my plans. Use a 1/2" or 3/8" inch band saw blade to cut off the sides. Use a 3/16" or 1/4" 10 to 14 tpi band saw blade to do the inner curves. I would not try to do the Sleigh on a scroll saw. It is too thick to cut on a scroll saw.

    • @terryspade441
      @terryspade441  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it really does. I only use it with 1/8" and 3/16" blades. They say you can use it with 1/4" blades and I tied it , but I didn't like it with the 1/4" blades.

    WHAT IS THE NAME OF WOOD FOR MAKING SLEIGH?

    • @terryspade441
      @terryspade441  3 роки тому

      I am using Doug fir Dimensional construction lumber 4 x 4 inches actual size is 3½ x 3½ inches. Different types of wood are used as construction lumber in different parts of the US. Any wood will work.

  • @garybush2671

    Terry I do not criticize how a fellow wood woodworker produces. However I would remiss in telling you this dangerous thing you did on this video. When you were crosscutting the 4x4 on the chop saw you were cutting cross armed ! DANGER DANGER DANDER !!! You set the peice, took you left hand over to hold the Peice on the right side of the saw and used your right to work the saw and make the cut ! VERY Very dengerous and a habit which will eventually lead to bodily injury to your left fore-arm. Rule for the chopsaw. If when operating you ever find your hands crossed you are endangering yourself. simple correction is to hold the part with the right hand and operate the saw with the left. I have one small scar, got very lucky, but have witnessed other where the blade cuts into the soft backside of the forearm ! Not a pretty site. Your videos are great. Watch the front end of this and note how you shirt sleeve easily comes in contact with the blade guard. Imagine a large peice and the guard being higher. Caught shirt sleeve grabbed and pulled in !!! AHHH heurts to visualize it.

    Do you have an apprentice? It would be great!
    In my city, once a month, there is an open workshop, where craftsmen and craftswomen show their abilities and teach other people how to do different things. This is excellent and there are always people, also young, who want to learn something.

      @@tomt9543 For turning wood and lumber scraps watch craigslist. A lot of trees go down in storms. Most of the time it gets cut up by clean up crews and left there. Many home owners will give it away if you haul it off. But they usually ask that you take it all.

    Why do you use such a large blade?! Try 1/8th inch.

    • @terryspade441
      @terryspade441  4 роки тому

      I prefer the 3/16" blade in the thicker wood. I use 1/8" and 3/16" blades. It just depends on what type of wood and thickness, the radius I am cutting etc
