    Now if my bandsaw was only working. Thanks for sharing!

    There are a lot of videos out there going through the basics of making band saw deers. I really enjoyed yours. Seeing you batch these out and the use of the Sharpie paint markers were nice spins on the process. Thank you!

    Fun project. I made several of those before I fell into the woodturning vortex. Your details are nicer. Good looking hat. Better looking than my do rags!

    Nice Gary, I bought a Grizzly GO513XBF2 bandsaw last February, my first project was the same style of Deer. I must say yours are dressier, I made templates so that I could make more. I think I need to get with it so I can have a whole herd deer to give to the Grandchildren.
    I enjoyed watching your video. Thanks for taking the time to produce and share. 😁🛫

    Thanks for watching! I've mostly made them as gifts to family and friends. Donated to events and charities. One year I did a Christmas show at a local church and sold them for $2 ea or 3 for $5. I just used them as a loss leader to attrack people in to look at my more pricey items. A lot of people told me the price was too low. They valued them at $5 each and up. Next time I do a Christmas show I'll probably price them at $6 each and 3 for $15. Have fun! 👍 🎄

    just a slight correction, deer have antlers and cows and sheep have horns.

    • @GaryLundgrenCrafts
      @GaryLundgrenCrafts  10 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching! Yes, you're right. I see I did refer to the antlers at least once as horns. 😕 Thanks for pointing that out. I must be more careful. Thanks! 👍

    These are really nice, would you not consider giving the antlers a little more definition as in more of a distinctive antler shape?

    • @GaryLundgrenCrafts
      @GaryLundgrenCrafts  3 роки тому

      Thank you! Yes you could make the antlers more defined but you would need a harder wood to avoid breaking. These are made of pine 2x4's. A soft wood. 👍

      I just came across this video that gives more detail as you mentioned. Try this. 👍 This style will take more time and gives great results. The video I did was a quick and easy way for making them. for someone in a pinch.

    Nice work Gary, could you tell me what width blade and teeth per inch you’re using on the saw? 1/4” and 6tpi?

  • @llemusic1

    Because of the volume of these, you made when staining them, wouldn't it be more time effective to dip them into the stain rather than painting each one until you get to the antlers and then hanging them to dry? Honest question because I'd like to start making these and want to be as efficient as possible.

      Thanks for watching! Yes, that would be a faster process. Thanks for the tip! 👍

    Just bought a new bandsaw and want to buy a 1/4" blade to make these. Did you use a blade with 4 or 6 TPI? Does it matter? My blades are 70.5". Love the work you did

    • @GaryLundgrenCrafts
      @GaryLundgrenCrafts  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I have a 93-1/2" blade and using a 1/4" 6 TPI hook blade. More teeth give a smoother cut, but too many teeth makes for a slow cut. Depends on the wood you're working with.

    Nice deer. Do you have an overhead dust collector? If so what type and model. Looks like it works very well.

      Thanks! Perhaps you are looking for carving projects by hand. There are several videos on youtube by searching for "hand carving projects".
