Hey there, Happy Sunday! I hope you all enjoy this video about a Stihl MS201! I am busy at the bench - cranking out chainsaw repairs! I had a beautiful Stihl 036 dropped off yesterday that has been sitting for over 20 years. We get to go through that saw next week! We are going to go over that thing with a fine tooth comb. We also have a couple 026's. a 024 and another MS260 coming up! You don't want to miss any of these! Stay tuned all week long! Have a fantastic day!!
Good thing you caught that starter rope. That thing was about to snap in two! Read the owners manual.Good one Erica! P.S. Every time you snap your glove when you put it on, my prostrate says (Sir! Yes Sir!). 😀👍
Hi Erica, I like your methodical approach to your work. I also get your humour. I'm a retired paramedic and the family repair man. Great videos, I look forward to each instalment. Cheers Bruce
I appreciate your very well produced videos and meticulous diagnoses and repair of chain saws with extraordinary expertise unmatched by some very good small engine mechanics on you tube. Keep up the good work.
Lucky it was dirty Erica, ….😊 Starter cord change too😊 Nice pick up spark arestor😊 I like to close my eyes and hear the engine😊 Enjoy lunch and your coffee😀🇦🇺
You are very knowledgeable and do great work but, I'd never send a saw or any piece of equipment back to the owner without a full cleaning. When items leave my shop they are clean as new. If the customer doesn't want my kind of service they can choose to go somewhere else. I have very few if any returns for faulty work
Same.....Every piece of equipment that leaves my shop is thoroughly cleaned as part of the service. Customers love the little extras and it keeps them coming back.
Appreciate you passing on that Steel (is it Steel or Stihl?) knot! I used to tie a fishing line knot like that once upon a time. Seems I remember they called it the clinch knot, but instead of wrapping it around one time you did 3 or 4 times on the fishing knot.
That dirty flywheel cover was bugging thecrap out of me; i was 99% sure you were going to try and clean that before letting it go. It shows the pride you take in the job you do. Thanks!
You can’t keep a cat out of a new box. 📦 😺I thought you only had two cats? It looked like you had drama between two tortie girls there. Thanks for Sunday video!
Thank you Ron!! We have two pet cats, and one wild kitty that lives outside and comes sniffing around sometimes. Those cats that are at each other are full brother and sister, but they don’t realize it! Or maybe they do….
Super Clean Degreaser in the purple bottle cuts the chainsaw grime within a few seconds. Remember to rinse thoroughly though because it can damage aluminum if left to soak for prolonged periods.
GR8 video, i watch every video that i can get my hands on (your videos that is) and this one showed me to check the pull cable, dont miss it. keep em coming please
Just subscribed. my new (to me) husqvarna 154 SE refuses to start. Replaced carb, filter and fuel line. Now it has lost spark. So new plug, leads etc ordered. But I'm just guessing as I'm no mechanic, but I'm enjoying messing with the old thing. Thanks for posting your repairs, they will teach me something I'm sure.
Thank you for posting this excellent video. I notice you are getting subscribers....today's count is 19.1K...I thought you were at 17K something yesterday. Congratulations!
Great Job Erica Sounds Like a New Saw 😀👍🏼 You and Tyler are Sure Staying Busy 😊 That Skid Steer Is Awesome and Your STIHL Inspector Did a Great Job as Well 😀 I’m Excited Too See That TS-360 Repair 😇
Erica! Zep sells an industrial type degreaser, water soluble that works fantastic on grease and crud, I buy it in 5 gallon containers. It will dull aluminum if you mix to strong.
Another success! Mr. detective here, as has been the situation in other videos, it seems those stats are not correct. That's 2 minutes runtime per start. And this saw surely has more than 71 hours, based on its condition. Indicator: It's hard to ruin a pull rope in that short amount of time.
Schöner Service, ich hab die MS201TC Version, ein Sieb im Auspuff haben die Maschinen in Deutschland nicht, es scheint an den strengeren Abgaswerten zu liegen.
This is the third time that I have asked you what motor are you guys running in those go carts, I was racing go carts before you were born and we were putting blowers on them way back when. Thank you Bruce. I like your channel.
you have the cutest Stihl inspector ever! Also: if you keep repairing all these "hard to start" chainsaws I guess you will have muscular arms and shoulders like a bodybuilder from trying to start them 😆 best workout ever...
It is surprising that companies do not keep a spare plug, air filter, and fuel filter on hand and change those items out first before bringing a saw in for service. Good job Erica. Do you save the old fuel to use in a cleaning tank?
Prolly a dumb question but for the algorithm, do you choke this saw for a cold start or is it all managed by the saw's electronics? Thanks for yet another great video! 👍

I place a coffee filter in my funnel to remove dirt from the gas as long there is no water in the gas. I enjoy your videos.

Btw that bio chain oil: I use pineoil soap, the natural classic stuff we have in Sweden and it works!

You’re awesome! Thanks for the teaching
Catching up on your videos on a lazy rainy Sunday at work is a great way to kill time.
Wow that started so easily after - it is now running so sweetly.
I love when it's an easy repair to bring them back to life
I always love to watch your videos, you are always so spot on and really know what you are doing. Keep the videos coming Erica.

She said they needed this saw back today so it had to sacrifice the full cleaning.
😂😂😂 thank you for the heart monitor sounds. Had me laughing so hard 🤣🤣🤣

23:00 pull start repair is important also.
Yes customer would of been very upset if the rope broke first pull ! great catch!
Exceeding excellence as always, thank you ma'am!!!

Great job Erica! I am learning with each episode🎉
I'm so glad!

Thank u,Erica. Luv your humour and thanks for such a complete service.Good catch on pullstart.Starts so easy now. Your the best on utube.
Runs great first pull
Hi Erica, A great video, I'm not very good at replacing pull cords. I watched that part twice. lol

Thanks for the sub!
Erica it's another great service on the MS201 i cant get use to using the 201 its a little odd shape
Nice job 👍

G'day Erica, It's good to see your channel is growing, and good to see you on BBR's live Sunday 👍.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You are an excellent instructor.
Awesome video, great work. Thank you Erica
Erica, good job short sweet to the point and all fixed
Cone shaped coffee filter works great for fuel strainer
Great Job Erica Sounds Like a New Saw 😀👍🏼 You and Tyler are Sure Staying Busy 😊 That Skid Steer Is Awesome and Your STIHL Inspector Did a Great Job as Well 😀 I’m Excited Too See That TS-360 Repair 😇
Thanks 👍
Thanks for your help with the fuel pump issues with the fuel pump on my 8 h.p industrial plus Briggs and Stratton engine Erica
No problem, Robert! We will get it sent out next week!
@marriedwithsmallengines okay thanks for sending me a fuel pump hope you and Tyler have a great week working on out door equipment
Erica! Zep sells an industrial type degreaser, water soluble that works fantastic on grease and crud, I buy it in 5 gallon containers. It will dull aluminum if you mix to strong.
Hi Erica, Have you tried brake-clean on the eco bar oil clean up? Love your channel, keep up the good work😁
Another success!

19:03 If you put the nozzle into the tank. It stops flow automatically.
I speculate the air filter was clogged enough to effectively choke the carb and flood foul the plug.
Schöner Service, ich hab die MS201TC Version, ein Sieb im Auspuff haben die Maschinen in Deutschland nicht, es scheint an den strengeren Abgaswerten zu liegen.
Like the humor and content 👍
The crystal ball was accurate in diagnosis of the saw.😅😅 Have a great day
This is the third time that I have asked you what motor are you guys running in those go carts, I was racing go carts before you were born and we were putting blowers on them way back when. Thank you Bruce. I like your channel.
Hi Bruce. They are all lawn tractor engines.
Briggs singles , Briggs Vtwins and some Kohler Vtwins.
@@marriedwithsmallengines Thank you , They sure do sound hot.
you have the cutest Stihl inspector ever!
Also: if you keep repairing all these "hard to start" chainsaws I guess you will have muscular arms and shoulders like a bodybuilder from trying to start them 😆
best workout ever...
Almost too perfect start at the end.😊
Nice job my friend 👍
I was just about to ask if you checked the spark arrestor, and you remember to check it. 🙂 Thank God we don't have to use them here.
Hi Erica 👋 I enjoyed your video today. 👍
Awesome video Erica, straightforward great fix. Like new again and ready to work 👍🏼. Im sure they will be over the moon 🌚
I like the stihl order👊
You're the best!🎉
It is surprising that companies do not keep a spare plug, air filter, and fuel filter on hand and change those items out first before bringing a saw in for service. Good job Erica. Do you save the old fuel to use in a cleaning tank?
So much GREAT CONTENT
Excellent video!!
Cool videos, something I can do myself instead paying service
Thanks Erica ❤🎉. Yes I find the videos Entertaining and really Informative. Love the Pussycats ❤❤❤. Greetings From Geoff in Melbourne Victoria 🦘.
Great job as usual! Why do you think the Stihl parts will be harder to get??
The parts for the older saws .. 034, 038 etc.
Stihl is slowing discontinuing parts for them.
(These saws are 25+ years old)
@@marriedwithsmallengines Uh oh....I have an 026 which I love! It's at lest 30 years old!
@@marriedwithsmallengines Too bad the 0 saws are great !!
I love how you said the environmentally bar oil is messier lmao 🤣🤣 love the content!
It is called a figure 8 knot. Standard knot used in sailing and I am sure other activities needing a stopper knot at the end of a line.
Mmmmm, the 2 person saw disappeared? Been wanting to see that beast!
It's still here! This video was filmed before the 2 man arrived! :)
great video
Do you guys use an ultrasonic cleaner? If so what brand. Thank you
I would be interested in seeing your chain saw parts cleaning methods and tools.
"Basic maintenance..." how many times have you said that to yourself? It certainly cannot be overstated.
When hooking up to life support, do you have to hook up the coil and plug if you do not intend to run the saw for info?
The instructions on my screen tell me to hook all three up, so I do. It may not be necessary.
@ try it with out the plug, see what happens
Great video. Are fuel filters all the same for chainsaw, line trimmers and blowers
No, there’s a few different filters.
@@marriedwithsmallengines Thx
Prolly a dumb question but for the algorithm, do you choke this saw for a cold start or is it all managed by the saw's electronics? Thanks for yet another great video! 👍
Sorry i missed, went to camp overweekend, had to grind up leaves and mow, Took my son shepard as company, no cell signal wich i do like lol
I was wondering where you were!! :)
Veeeery dirty filters, fouled plug, but surprisingly not terrible amount of carbon on piston... I'm impressed it ran...
I think that knot is a figure 8 knot
Do you do a rpm check with a Stihl EDT 9 rpm checker
I have it and I do, I will show in an upcoming video
Hey there what was that spray you used to clean up a dirty saw ?
I use ZEP degreaser , and sometimes Stihl special cleaner.
@ thank you 😊
Why did you have to use a new pull handle instead of the old one?
I had the elastostart handle with rope kit in stock for this
Coffee strainers work when you dump the gas into your conatainer.
Yes! Great idea!
I believe the knot is called a figure 8.
Erica that stihl not is called a square knot in the Navy
I think I forgot to put the bar that runs from the trigger to the carb into the holder but I don't want to take the saw back apart to do make sure.
Knot is a figure 8 knot.
If I have good fuel with junk in it I just run it through a coffee filter if no strainer is handy.
You let Mr Chainsaw take a break??? I see a setup !!!
I was hoping you'd show why it was leaking bar oil. From memory one of those 201's was leaked all over your floor
Your Stihl knot is called a "Figure 8 Knot" with the rope climbing and rescue crowd....
Get on my workbench. 😂😂😂
25k subscribers by Christmas!.
That would me incredible!!!
