This has been the biggest surprise for me too. I got it because I love Zelda and have heard high praises of Necrodancer, but I was pretty hesitant on the concept. I just finished my first run in 7 hours, taking my time, haven’t totally gotten everything but I’ve gotten most things. And the whole time it was incredible, I generally don’t restart games, if I beat a roguelike I usually put it down right after, but I’m gonna finish up everything in this map and immediately start another run.
It's actually important to note that this game can still be for you if you aren't a fan of the rhythm mechanics. You can turn them off in the menu and the game becomes a turned based rogue-like Legend of Zelda with a fantastic soundtrack. I play it that way because I can't wrap my head around the rhythm AND keeping track of enemies. (Apparently Crypt of the Necrodancer has the same non-rhythm option in way of the Bard character)
Crypt of Necrodancer is only $4 during this sale, if you're enjoying this or are on the fence, give it a try, both games are AMAZING and definitely worth it.
Cadence of hyrule is actually more forgiving then Crypt of the Necrodancer, as far as staying on beat, and progression as you get an unlimited amount of time to explore as apose the CoTND where at the end of a song your pushed into the next level regardless of anything your doing even if your in front of a rare RNG drop one beat note away Also CoH has moment inside the gameplay where if you clear a screen you can free run, that only exists partially in the hub of CoTND, but still I love them both for their badass soundtracks, and stellar gameplay
This game is really a lot of fun! I bought it day 1, and the music is great imo. But it is an interesting mixture of their game with Legend of Zelda, and I think they did a really good job at it!
Batabii yeah it sucks, but with how many games there are now of days for an indie game the risk of underselling or even over selling really can hurt a small developer & the “Switch tax” would probably either have the physical price go up or cut into their own profit trying to not charge a full extra $10 on a smaller indie game like Cadence of Hyrule. Here’s hoping their digital success leads to a quick full physical or even limited run release soon.
I really enjoy your channel. Thank you so much for the videos and content that you provide. I watch you videos daily, I can see the pride and dedication you take into your content. Keep it up.
Yes and everyone also remember. I found the switch has very low lag its self in portable mode. But if you then dock it. You TV could have difference in latency and will need to recalabrate the game. This also goes if you are running the game through a capture card
As I said in another video if you say it because you pay $5 extra just because it has Zelda IP in it, just to let you know that it isn't that much in the first place, literally you would pay the same price you paid for the first game because of the fact you get gold points back when you purchase it, so literally the game could potentially worth the same price as the first game. So no, the price is not high at all. Edit: not that you get $5 back when your purchase this game, but if you bought any other games for the switch you already made your $5 back worth in gold points.
Can confirm: this game was MORE fun the second time through; the random map generation switches things up in a refreshing way and new puzzles appear (most or all of the puzzles are not procedurally generated). I've played it through at least 5 times so far and it doesn't get boring. People who have played the original Crypt of the Necrodancer can be assured that this game is not quite so randomly generated as Necrodancer. The development team was careful to limit the randomness enough that it won't interfere with the cohesiveness of the various Zelda elements.
I loved playing this game! Couldn't put it down yesterday. I really enjoy rhythm games and this was just the best mashup of genres that I really enjoy creating an absolutely unique and fun experience :)
this game was a big surprise to me when it came out. i loved the original Crypt of The Necrodancer and i also love the legends of zelda series so this is a perfect game for me
You expressed relief at being able to move freely after clearing enemies off a square of the map, then watch out for Crypt of the Necrodancer. It's all rhythmic dungeon crawling all the time, except for the menu/map when you die. I think there's a character (probably to unlock) that can move freely from the rhythm constraints if I remember correctly. Not 100% sure, though.
I beat this fairly fast and enjoyed every bit of it. I was a bit sad that once I collected everything that there wasn't much else to do but run and look for chests that have regenerated for a price that I don't need. I had no idea it randomly generates the land with a new game. Makes me even more excited to start a new game now.
it's a rhythm roguelite with a Zelda skin. I'm all for it. I'm not sure why you go through such confusion describing it being short and that "maybe" you're expected to do multiple playthroughs - that's exactly what rogue type games are for.
With permadeath and new maps every time there is a lot more of both pickup and play and replayability in Crypt if the Necrodancer. The variety of characters there is higher too. Both games are fun overall though. Just be prepared for the graphics drop from.modern top down style in Cadence of Hyrule to more a 16-bit inspired style in Crypt of the Necrodancer.
I got the original on Steam with leftover money from years ago since it is on sale and I'm having a blast. I'm considering buying it again on Switch now that I've played both the original and Cadence of Hyrule
Hey that's The Great Sea from Wind Waker! I love it. I need to get this game some time after I beat Persona Q2 and Bloodstained when that comes on Switch.
Go press A on your Spear, tap left or right, press A again. You're welcome. (Titanium Spear does 2 damage per attack. No reason not to use it, really.)
I hope they add an addition story, the same size as the first maybe a little bigger. It think if they did a lorule plus 4 more dungeons and it woulda been perfect length! Even would have payed an extra $10
In Cadence of Hyrule your have the option to enable perma-death like in the original. Then the game suddenly becomes insanely hard and unforgiving. Try it out!
The first game had multiple released soundtracks, so they only thing holding them back may be some rights issues for a separate soundtrack release. I’d be satisfied with just a music player mode in the game (like Smash has)
So I picked up the original Necrodancer for $4 on the eShop and wanted to beat it before buying this. But then I watched this video of it and instantly bought it. It's so good and played it for like 2 hours and had to make myself put it down.
