The end got cut off...first time U-Toober! At the end, I used the screwdriver to push the sweeper tab into the hole in the bottom corner of the window/door.

Take the mirror loose and it lifts right out. Lift the front by the mirror first and then the tab won’t fight you. Install same process backwards, tab in first then push down until clicks in place, tighten mirror and replace trim. Done. No reason to fight it.

That little tab is very important. In my case and experience, the Fairchild sweep did not include that tab and when I installed it, there was decent hole left open.
I am not sure if I was supposed to take apart the old one and add that hard plastic trim or not, but like you said, there were no videos I could find after searching for 20 mins. When I installed them there didn't seem anything missing or out of place.
I was highly disappointed in the Fairchild brand, they kept popping off aside from having the hole , so I ended up ordering Dorman ones.
    Dorman 25860 (front driver)
    Dorman 25861 (front passenger)
More expensive but it's the closest thing to OEM and they seem good according to reviews from amazon and ebay.
You're much better off removing the mirror in my experience, it will help you swing the sweep nearly 45 degrees up so you can remove the tab intact or install it alright.

Apparently rockauto and amazon just gave me the wrong part number under 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3. I should have known because I had to cut the ones of I had.
Fairchild KG2040 and KG2041 are NOT the correct item for this truck.
The CORRECT Fairchild part is KG2089 in reference to the front windows for 99-06 NBS trucks.

Is that a box of Franzia on the passenger side floor? My wife would love ya! :-) Great video, I've got a 2005 Sierra and I will be replacing the outer sweeps this weekend. Thanks!

What was the issue you were having? On my 04 2500HD I'm getting a spot of water on the floor in front of the driver's seat whenever it rains. It leaves a trail of water dripping down the hood latch and speaker grille on the driver's door.

I didn't have water issues inside the cab. But these silverados are known for water leaking and speaker damage over time.
I shrouded the top of all my new speakers with half moon cut coffee cans (plastic ones) over the top with hot glue. I didn't used the OEM brackets our housings though.
My guess is you may have a leak near the mirror, door gasket, or even windshield if the wind screen is broken or installed improperly.
I would hose it down in specific areas taking my time letting dry. Maybe you can narrow down your leak point. Good luck!

@@PreaFTW Just replaced these anyway because mine looked pretty ratty. It was such a tight fit that i had to grab a 1lb deadblow and a small block of wood and tap them into place to get them to seat... lol

I've been having a problem with rain getting onto my floor mats I didn't know where it was coming from for 6 years. I finally figured it out it was coming from the top of the windshield. I made a youtube video addressing it but I still haven't gotten it fixed.

Is there an inner window sweep on our trucks too? If so any idea what the PN# is? My window is getting scratched bad from these old sweeps

    • @PreaFTW
      @PreaFTW  2 роки тому

22832143 is the GM part number. Keep in mind this should be the correct # for the 99-06/07
Kinda spendy from what I have seen but maybe check with a auto recycle business or even a body shop

I'm sure your local auto parts store could get them as well.
