The foam strip deteriorates within 20 years and not intended to last. So water runs under the little plastic wall. It should be a 3 inch tall metal curb around the air intake. Thank you. I'll try this.
Is it possible that the drain is simply clogged? I have this is exact issue and I noticed that after a rain and after emptying my weathertech mat (catches it) that getting in the car and driving dumped another puddle so the water must be accumulating. I assume if this is a drain it should run downhill and empty under normal circumstances. Thanks for any advice.
@@johnkorn1810 nope. I ran a hose over the roof to try and see. Couldn’t tell where it’s coming from. I took the panel off under the wipers and ran water through that didn’t see it from there. It must be from somewhere under the dash which I’m not looking forward to tearing apart
@@brandon7189 mine didn’t have visible cracks like yours , but I had my wife reach in there with skinner arms and applied and assload of sealant , it rained this morning , carpet stayed dry👍
That might be the vents on the back of the cab leaking, or even the third brake light, look it up theres a fee videos tslking about it, i hope this helps
Yup, Ford, Chevy, it doesn't matter cause they all have their quirks. No way should it leak from there. Just bought a nice, rust free, '04 Suburban, Z71 and found the carpet wet. The fool before broke the heater housing at a screw right below A/C evap and thought that was the source. I fixed the housing, carpet was dry but is wet after sitting in a little rain. I thought it was a plugged up sunroof drain or some other drain hose. Frustrating, especially after fixing and making reduntant grounds to fix gremlins. 68 yrs. old and never once had to deal with bad grounds or water leaks. Thanks for your video to help us. Do you think this could be the problem on the drivers side floor board as well that’s the only spot that seems to catch water. lb7 gmc 2002 , had windhhield replaced
Brandon, I owe you a debt of gratitude for making this video.
Well done and clearly explained.
Thank you! I got as far as not pulling that panel. Now I’m going to go back and pull it

There is a drain, but very rarely it is clogged. Pretty hard to explain on here, I'll make a video in the future..
What caulking did you use mine has the same problem
I have an 06 Tahoe and it leaks on both sides. You think it’s the same on the driver side? It drips right on my foot and through the fuse panel
Ever do this and get it fixed? Mine is leaking on both sides. Just saw it when I got in my truck just now lol.

@@mincemeat9830 the rubber boot that goes into the truck for the wires going into the driver's door
Wonder if flex seal would work for it ? I added 3m marine 4000 caulking to the same area . Hope it works . Did this fix work for you ?
Yeah it fixed the issue
You cut that panel to get access? How you going to keep that from leaking now
Sealed it with outdoor caulking!
