you don't take a panic test when engaged in hand to hand combat. So the stormvermin didn't have to panic due to the damage done by the fanatics. Page 160 of the rulebook.
Really enjoyed this battle report! Great chat and fun, nicely painted units and good table and we clipped together to make it move along quick. Make more!!
This is actually quite a sad question. I got i from and amazing youtuber called robpaints he did an amazing job on the squigs as park of an underworld gang video. Unfortunate this creator has sadly passed away since then. His videos are still up so do check it out.
The cymbal goblin was neat, but my favorites were the squid herder with the snotling tied on a spear and the goblin bagpiper standing on one leg (because some sculptor was most likely a Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull fan).
Do you move all the fanatics before resolving their attacks? Or should it be one at a time? If it’s one at a time after a few went through it would get hard to make your angles work.
Ouch! What a game! Really thought it was going to go one way and by the swing of a chain (or 6) it went very much the other! Love seeing gobbos vs. Skaven, you just know chaos will ensue! Also, I have to comment on your idea of a slightly more sensible side of your deployment containing as it did giant spitting squigs! 😂😂
34:35 that's why there's a bandage!!! I have two of these old metal guys. So much character. I am keen to get all the latest gloomspire models too and go crazy squig heavy :)
Another question: Fanatics there used to be a rule where if you charged a unit with Fanatics in it you had the option of holding - was it 7" away? - and the Fanatics would be released and if you carried on the charged you got automatically dinged. I liked the way you held them for the level of destruction they caused but now you have inflicted that mental scar I'm curious to the options you and your opponent have. Stopping a charge with them could be a big thing as well.
@@timraymond8245 That definitely was a thing where you could bait them out with skirmishers etc. It's been a long time since I've played Fantasy - Oldhammer - funnily enough I have both armies in this video. I also have Skarsnik and Queek but I don't know if they've made it into the timeline yet.
Great game. Tim taught me how to use my skaven, so it's nice to see him use them again. I still remember the day you got those squigs from forgeworld, like a kid in a candy shop 😂
Although you Rally in the Strategy Phase, the fleeing unit doesn't move until Compulsory (after Charges) so a fleeing unit will absolutely block a Charge if it is in front.
the doomwheel has 2 stomp attacks, so it might have just destroyed the unit completely with those. I'm pretty sure it always flees and pursues it's random movement, which is 3d6. But I could be wrong.
Very fun battle report, congratulations on the win Andy, as a blood bowl player it’s always fun to see rats getting walloped wherever their beady little faces appear 🤣
I love it when fanatics work well but I also love it when they go spectacularly wrong 😂. Loving the old world battle reports, is it even a proper battle if you don't make your own sound effects 😁
Haven’t watched the full video yet at (12:07), but the Doomwheel should have fired twice. "At the end of every Shooting Phase, after all shooting has been resolved, place up to three small (3") blast templates so that their central hole is within 6" of this model." It makes Doomwheels absolutely terrifying things to deal with. Edit... yeah, he remembered! Ignore me. 😂 The Nightgoblin force, looks gorgeous by the way.
Just ordered a bunch of Night Gobbos over the weekend to start my army again that I lost a few years ago. Now as I rewatch this, Manglers go on rounds in TOW for sure? I ordered two.
skaven need maximum rank bonus for as long as possible. True some other armies now also have warband, but it was always a Skaven rule. Always try to have and keep maximum rank bonus for as long as possible when playing Skaven.
While RAW a Skaven character could attack and then "Retire" to the back I don't think it's the intent. When they do that it says that they can't make Attacks. It really should be "at the beginning of any Phase"
It has been commented under some of your other videos but it bears repeating: You zoom in way too much. It's the equivalent of holding the viewer's head 10" away from the dice rolls. It's unnecessary and confusing. Would greatly appreciate it if you just filmed without zooming in and maybe without moving and shaking the camera around so much. Other than that great video and very enjoyable battle report!
Fanatics being pushed out while in combat seems like something that needs an faq. Same with hits from them while in combat. They shouldn't be able to throw them out while in combat and the hits they do to a unit in combat should be randomized. There's really no reason to take anything other than blocks of night goblins with three fanatics. Seems way overpowered.
Well you can’t release them in the combat phase. It’s at the start of the turn. So if you want till combat you have to survive a round of combat. If you lose and get run down you lose all the fanatics so it’s a gamble. In this game it payed off. There strong but very expensive for a unit of goblins.
Thanks for the high quality battle report, I really enjoyed most of it. But there was something that caught my attention a few too many times to be comfortable watching without commenting. Oh man, I want to be nice, I really do. But this has to be mentioned. You sir (goblin player) have the patience of a saint. It's so annoying playing against someone who tries to measure wrong intentionally, ignoring the scatter direction and angle the measurement to a more favourable position all while being vague and unclear then just giggle when he get's caught brushing it off. I would not play against someone like that myself. We are all different, and to each their own, but I and that Skaven player would not get along for more than a few minutes at best. I try to not be mean and hard on the guy, because he clearly had a good time and was cheerful and happy throughout. I just can't handle these subtle cheating, and sometimes blatently cheating. "It doesn't scatter"... It's your sesponsibility to know your own units and it's also your responsibility to follow the rules of the game.
I get new edition excitement, but the Skaven player was far too hyper and presumptive (read: incorrect) with lots of the rules; it made for quite exhausting viewing. You were correct to repeatedly call out the mistakes/assumptions as they had the potential to be very impactful. We're all learning the nuances of the game, naturally, and that's probably best achieved by being a little calmer.
Shootinf at Skirmishers units that consist entirely of models with unit strength 1 suffer a -1 to hit modifier. Page 185 "Enemy Fire." So not the Squig hopper mobs, they are light cavalry, but the squiq herds are all unit strength 1.

During the time line of the Old World the Skaven Clans are engaged in civil war. The Great Horned Rat has not arrived yet to unit the clans and bring the Skaven to the surface.
Your first stormvermin combat was done wrong. The nightgoblins had 3 casualties in the front rank. That means 3 less attacks from the front rank and the 3 guys behind couldn't fight because they had to step up, meaning you used 6 more attacks than you should have.

HHaha cheers.
:::hides:: That's gonna be a thing, isn't it? ::laughter::
I love that the legacy army is in square bases and the mainstream army in round bases 😂😂😂😂
Hahhaha yep
That fanatics bomb was mental, really need to add some into my night goblins army.
They were a nightmare to fight

Yes you do. For sure.
Great to see night gobbos in action! Any chance of seeing some painting tutorial on them? 😬

Yep I knew there was somthing.
Yes! Keep the old world content coming

Great game. Those Gloomspite Gitz models make collecting a Night Goblin army hard to resist. Pity more aren't available.
Dam straight. It’s a great army.

Yea sir.
Can I ask, what is your colour scheme for your squigs, they look really good.

Glad to hear.
question here! where did you get that goblin yellow moon piece of scenery from? amazing
It’s an age of sigmar scenery piece.
Thanks again for a brilliant battle report, 2024 is going to be so much 'Old World', fun.
Oh yes it will.
don't forget for the fellblade, you have to test every strategy phase. If you roll a 1, you take a wound.
Yep we forgot.
Question: Does the Fell blade still ding the character carrying it, and if so when do you test for it?
indeed it does, every turn on a 1 iirc.
There's a free download PDF if you Google "old world legacy"
You roll each turn to see if you hurt yourself. Forgot to roll that in cam
@@timraymond8245 No worries, thanks for the reply. Just checking. 🙂
Yea if you roll a 1 at the start of each turn. But we forgot.
Great video, loved the night goblins.
I really enjoyed your death korps painting video you did. Id love it if you did a night goblins one!

Great batrep! Just a quick one, why does the ratling gun re roll 1s? Cheers guys :)
No idea lol.

Hahhaah great sculpts one and all.
Think that first fall back by the skaven used both dice for total instead of one and went through the unit causing a panic?
Oh perhaps.
haha all those funny noises, glad to see other people do this when they play
Of course lol
Do you move all the fanatics before resolving their attacks? Or should it be one at a time? If it’s one at a time after a few went through it would get hard to make your angles work.
One at a time and no the angels would work fine.
Hilarious game. FANATICS!
There always great.
Can the Fanatics be released from a unit engaged in Close Combat? Thought they had to be unengaged to release.
Nope they are released at the start of any start of turn sub phase. And there is no restrictions other than that.
23 dead rats! That is what you call pest control! 😮
HahahHa yeeessssss
Would love to see some Lizardmen fighting their old enemies Chaos :D
That would be an epic game.
What a fun match up! I wonder if your upcoming tournament will be recorded for batrep as well?
Nope we did not record as not everyone would want to be on cam. But it was great fun.
I wish but no. Thanks pal.
hail to the skaven! Great game
All power to the Great Horner Rat
Cheers pal.
Ouch! What a game! Really thought it was going to go one way and by the swing of a chain (or 6) it went very much the other! Love seeing gobbos vs. Skaven, you just know chaos will ensue! Yup. It for sure went my way.
something to note with the Zaapp attacks from the doom wheel is that they always scatter even if you roll the hit on the scatter dice
Good to know
Thanks for the vid! Ratling Guns are quick to fire, don’t take -1 hit on move.
I will remember next time

Such a fun battle report, im really tempted to get into the old word with a night goblin army

However, during the Command sub-phase of their turn, the wielder of the Fellblade must roll a D6. On a roll of 1, they lose a single Wound.
Yep for sure. We forgot.
Seems like when the fanatics cross another fanatic, they would do damage to each other. So, still probably kill each other. Sound right?
