YES! I've been waiting for him to listen anything from Thornhill!! I've been recommending them a few times thru different videos! I would love to hear him dissect all the different little technicalities in their music. He would definitely appreciate it!
Yessss, I'm so happy to see you do Novelists. This band checks all the marks for me and their new vocalist honestly kills it. That breakdown caught me so off guard and I felt like I could throw a whole truck haha. If you love delay, you should check out Language by The Contortionist. One of the most organic songs I've ever heard
Thanks so much Chase that was super cool. Novelists have been my fav for a long time and I’ve heard the song but I really wanted to hear what you have to say as you have such a unique way of educating and helping one to see and understand music in a new way. I think I love the song even more after watching you enjoy it so much. Keep educating man, and enjoy their back catalogue, it’s mind blowing.
That breakdown got to me too! Always appreciate how you breakdown composition! BTW, Oceans Ate Alaska released a new single called Metamorph a few weeks ago. Something tells me you will enjoy it!
I ABSOLUTELY love how I saw your movements in the first two seconds, and I said to myself: "hes going to say get outtha here isnt he" and then I WON! I ove you Chase!! I promise I will NEVER gettoutahere
I like the previous vocalist. It's going to take some time for me to get used to Tobias. The solo is beautiful. Hope to see another French metalcore band, LANDMVRKS here on your channel someday.
@@fergusmacleod9540 oh i think this sounds great. Wouldve been cool if they got the original time the valuator singer or something, but its a great replacement.
@@LeatherDaddy97 yeah that would've been cool. I think he had quit singing though for personal reasons that i don't know. This new singer isn't bad though. Just have to get used to him even though i still miss Mateo's unique sound and vibe
Oh wow, I thought I was the only one that know them! :D I had the occasion to review their debut on Metal.it and I gave them a 9/10...so glad you liked them too!
This song is killer. I liked their old stuff but this is a step up. Also you should check out a band called Covet, awesome proggy math rock. Try howl or sea dragons by them.
I discovered your channel through Nanowar of Steel, but i stayed for the really in depth analysis of the songs. Finally someone who knows what hes talking about. And not just talking "gibberish". I really like that. Dont mind pausing the video, if you have something to say, then let it out. Because you want to discover new bands, i have one for you: The Hirsch Effekt (probably check out the song "Lifnej", thats the one i fell in love with them, awesome song and such a wonderful video for it), you will be blasted away by these three guys. Its a german math/art-core band and they are making fantastic noise. "Noja" or "Inukshuk" by them are definitely worth it to get checked out as well, but well i love Lifnej too much. Stay safe and healthy!
I would love for you to do some reaction vids on their stuff from a few years ago, specifically Immedicable, Lichtenburg Figure, Antares, and L'appel Du Vide. You're talking about solos, Flo is well known for his jazz influence; so much, in fact, that I have often referred to Novelists (at least in their old form) as "Jazzcore". For examples of that, see 5:12 AM, Echoes, and Gravity. I don't hate Tobias at all, but the band with Matty was perhaps one of the best bands to have ever played the game. I'm 52 years old, and have been a metal fan since I was 10, and no one does what these guys did. No one. Everyone I turn on to these guys just utterly loves them and talks about how original they are. Great review, Alex, and thanks for keeping it kid friendly for those of us who have kids who enjoy metal. Means a bunch. Subbed.
Very quickly in I realized you were actually adding value to the song when you were pausing. Hats off, a good reactor! (There's too much whimsical talking and illiteracy in the reaction scene), so that's a sub for me!
Chase, do you know Apocalyptica? They might have something interesting to react to. Apocalyptica is yet another finnish metal band that started in the 90s, the catch here is they play cellos. Their first album was Metallica covers "Plays Metallica by Four Cellos". Anything from that album sounds great but I'd suggest "One" as they have official live video of that played in Olavinlinna (a medieval castle near where I live so obviously I'd offer that). Another thing about them is that they do not have a vocalist, instead they feature a lot of people from other bands. A few examples would be "I'm not Jesus" with Corey Taylor of Slipknot, "Live or Die" with Joakim Brodén of Sabaton and "Helden" with Till Lindemann of Rammstein (David Bowie Cover). My all time favorite song would be "Path". There's also "Path vol.2" with Sandra Nasić of Guano Apes.
Hey Chase, have you heard of Boys of Fall? And in particular their new album ‘Distance’. I think you may like the title track of the album, the mixing of it is perfect to me, would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Hey We just dropped a new song with Novelists former vocalist Tobias Rische! Maybe it would be something for you channel to react to. Its called: CHANGES by 2SILENT feat. Tobias Rische Thank you✌🏻
I want to suggest you a small independent band from Belgium called "Suasion" whose sound you might like. They published their debut album "Stardust" last year and i got instantly hooked the moment i stumbled across them, especially since they're having some kind of Starset-vibe (many people actually found out about them thanks to ads during Starset videos). Two of the songs are even featuring Philip Strand from Normandie and both vocalists from ALAZKA: Tobias Rische and Kassim Auale. I'll also post a suggestion on the discord server but i doubt that it's going to get any upvotes since Suasion are so unknown.
Check out “love is a wonderful lie” by sal3m - Matteo’s (Novelists old singer) new band, with members from IMHO the closest (in a good way) band to Novelists - Kadinja. Cheers and keep up the awesome songs breakdown/analysis!
Awesome reaction! Just like always :) I very much enjoy your reviews. The guitars in this song are amazing. Delightful sound overall. Also, please check out LANDMVRKS new track Lost in a Wave (if you haven't heard it yet). Very, very tasteful song.
You really need to try these out... Your reactions are so good and informative, so I have these suggestions. maximum the hormone Ⅱ~これからの麺カタコッテリの話をしよう~. Try this one, and also you really need to react to Band Maiko.
For almost 6 minutes I was like "hmmm ... do I like it, don't I like it??" Then the chorus hit. And I like it! 😅 Okay ... this felt like 5 songs in 1 somehow. Don't get me wrong, your pausing and explaining stuff is great! But I need to give it a second listen in one go... 😅
Interesting. New sub here. I would love it if you would check out an up-and-coming band called The Warning. They are 3 sisters from Mexico and they are quite good. They are more rock to hard rock not metal, but they have a raw sound that I really like.🤞
The timing when you pause videos makes it a lot less jarring... as does the little mental countdown you always appear to make just before you do. It always feels like a sign of respect to the musicians when you let them finish their "sentence".
Thank you Chase, very happy you enjoyed the song :)
Absolutely loved it. Appreciate the early listen and can't wait for more.
Also saw someone recommend Thornhill. If you haven’t heard them already, they are RIGHT up your alley
Absolutely this! Their tracks are fantastic and a breakdown from you would be incredible
I heavily second that!
I agree!
The Haze is my fav. song by them. Soo good

Love the vocals, reminds me a LOT of Silent Planet. Which you still REALLY need to check out!!
We have the same taste Chase!! This is exactly what I love, too 🖤🤘🏻

This was great! Thanks for introducing me to an excellent band!
Best reaction! It was like a producer reacts ... The way you pointed out the little things in and out
Really love your kind of reaction. This song is beyond amazing overall!
Novelists are wonderful.dude has quite the voice. Remember to check out thornhill. Just realized thats a new singer
You're probably one of the few reactors I give a pass for stopping during certain parts. Lol
I appreciate you! 🙏🙏🙏

VEIL OF MAYA - Outsider ! Great song. And this time you cant tell when breakdown starts. ;)
Their older song "The Lichtenberg Figure" is a masterpiece
Novelists is S-tier imho. Amazing composition, writing, mixing, the whole works... Another great reaction.
🤩🇧🇷😍 This song is wonderful, perfect, magnificent, incredible, phenomenal, fantastic. 🖤🎤🎸🥁🎶🎼🤟🏻👏🏻
Oh bro i feel you hahaha same i love this type of sound, like nostalgic melodic electronic and of course djent, this is the new good metalcore🔥🤘🏻
Dude, please check out their song Somebody Else! It has one of my favourite guitar-based intros of all time!
Burning down Alazka / Alazka old vocalist, great addition to Novelists 🤘🏽
Welp. This will be on repeat.

This band sounds like a rip-off from the project Celldweller, which started making this kind of music back in 2003.
Except they don’t at all, this song has some electronic elements that might be sort of similar to celldweller, but that’s it.
