GREAT video….a bit too general, but still very good. I’m trying to dial in my Shimanos, including a Chornarch. I also backlashes immediately with my brand new Curado M. I haven’t backlashes a Curado in years, so it freaked me out. For whatever reason, I’m struggling getting any decent distance out of my Curado’s. My Diawa Tatula still gives me good distance, as well. I’m trying to use thin Seagar braid, but as mor of a backing at this point. So, in effort to save money, I’ll put thin braid as backing, then add 50yrds of flouro, so I don’t have to deal with a knot going through my guides. I don’t like using short leaders for freshwater fishing. Maybe that’s causing the distance issues…..I don’t know. I’m kinda scratching my head at this point. I either get very limited distance, or a backlash….

On my Shimanos I generally open up my spool breaks with around 80% of the pins off. Then I set the side plate brakes to generally 4.5 out of 6 and just adjust tension accordingly. If you want to run braid I would slightly increase the pins to around half on and half off.

@@LakeProTackle I think I may be doing it backwards. I know using flouro is becoming a problem (which is strange, because it never used to be). I'm running braid as a backing (Smackdown 30lb) then I'm actually running about 75yrds of fluoro (Seagar Red lable AbrazX 12lb-15lb). I hate short 12" flouro leaders, yet, don't want a full spool of flouro due to the cost. And, that worked well for a long time (using Seagar yellow lable InvisX), then I picked up the new Curado and it went to hell. So, I just respooled it (the same way) and will try tweeking the reel more, and try your settings, before trying to change the line altogether. I picked up some Tatsu, but I'm not about to put that on any of the reels till they get dialed in. Thank you for the tips, I'll give it a shot. With the new Curado I've got 2 of the 4 pins on (locked), the break on 3, and I set the spool tension knob to where when the bait hits the ground (in cast mode) the spool only pins maybe once, at most. That's giving me very little distance and significant backlash problems. I'm almost wondering if that AbrazX is too stiff. Thank you again for the reply.

I have found that my AbrazX stays pretty soft and casts easier than InvisX. The breaks on the spool will help with start up inertia, side plate helps with braking on the end of your cast, and tension is overall braking. If I am throwing a light crankbait I will have tension high, side plate brakes in the middle, and internal brakes pretty low (most off).
Which Curado do you have? The Curados with 200 size spools are not meant for casting "lighter" lures. If you want to throw cranks and or light jigs or T rigs go with a Curado 150 or 70 MGL

@@LakeProTackle Yeah...I don't think it's the line...although, this is the first time using 15lb...I typically use 12lb. So, it's going to be stiffer regardless of label. It could be the lb test, more than anything, that I'm trying to get used to. But, I'll tinker with the settings more and see if I can't get it to a manageable level. The model is the Curado M 201HG. 👍

Not trying to make a sales pitch, but I would definitely use a Curado 150 or 70 over a 200 unless you're deep cranking and throwing cranks over 5/8oz with 12lb line@@phillamoore157

It would be nice to actually show you casting them.

not taking advice from a dude that doesn't know behind the backing plate is the braking system.

A lot of people don't know about these settings. I've been fishing for years and have known about these settings
