Adjusting the cast control cap in 2024? On a $500 reel? What the hell am i seeing here? The whole point of the DC is the ease of use. Never have Shimano released a reel with DC brakes that required any tension of your cast control. They really did mess up the tuning of the DC of these reels. The MGLIII spool is too fast for IDC-5, or at least the way they tuned it for this spool (if any tuning was even done at the factory). What a disaster.

It’s hard to beat the Curado 150mgl for the price or the new Diawa Tatula 100’s with the hyper drive digigear and I have plenty of Lews reels like the Super Duty 300 and BB1 pro but they do get Geary after about a year or 2.

If the 21 Zillion for $200 from Japan wasn't a thing, this reel would be big, but with the king of value being around, nothing from Shimano can compete.

All this talk about using the tesion knob has me face palming. Seriously guys do you drive your car around with the hand brake on? The tension knob should be set just to take up axial play (you should just barely feel some "rock" when you thumb the spool side to side). The only reason to use the tension knob is when throwing heavy baits in close structure to prevent the couple of loose loops that can occur in that scenario aka a "technical overrun". Everything else should be controlled by the braking assembly or module, hence the reason for different reels (i.e. spools) for different casting applications. Try it, you can thank me later. I came here to see a review but the data is flawed, sorry.

Im sure they will be relasing the Metaninium DC 70-100B model maybe 2025 and I'm thinking about new scorpion DC and Scorpion BFs hopefully an Aldeberran BFS DC is coming 2025

The Met 70 DC is hands down my favorite Shimano DC reel. I need one of those 110 Specials for it though. Or a second Expride 610M for it. I can’t pull my Aldebaran MGL 50 off of the Expride for it because the MGL/Expride combo is so light and balanced! It took maybe four casts to dial in the Met DC and it was a dream to throw. My Met DC is the smoothest casting and winding reel I currently own. Worth every single penny!

Good job explaining the. The custom. Because I couldn’t figure out Iff those magnetic shoes worked on a centrifugal design. Or Iff you just adjust them. In and out. Or up and down. As you adjust it magnet. I’d think 🤔 be kinda cool Iff those magnets worked on a centrifugal force design. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The timing… Was just doing some cleaning and re-rigging on some of my set ups after watching this video and realized that the 5-1/4 pounder from the last time I used my BFS set up bent out three hook points on the 110 JR I caught it on. It had 5 of the 9 points buried in its mouth. Glad it wasn’t just hooked by one of the points that bent out! Anyway, order incoming. 🤷‍♂️😎👍
