I'm 32 and alone with my 2 cats and dog and I'm a family person XD without the fam. I wish I wasn't forced to stay inside the year I was ready to mingle after 5 years of recovering from an extremely traumatic relationship. Life is cruel
Edit: But I'm still keeping my hopes up ^_^ Adoption will probably be the way considering I've had 2 miscarriages already and I still got my arms and legs and the will to try so

aw, i'm sorry to hear about your miscarriages, but hopefully you'll have luck with adopting! my mom adopted my half-sister as a single parent- it's a lot of work, but it can definitely be done!

Potentially cheaper idea than getting a new computer: Windows 7 virtual machine. It would be like an emulator basically except instead of a console it's a different version of Windows. Still might need to pay for it (or like have good backups on an external hard drive or something) and it would take its own amount of fiddling, but it's an idea I've been meaning to play around with for a while to see if it's worth the time. Just a suggestion :D

50:30 The sad truth is that I've never been able to run the sims 2 completely smoothly in any computer, which I hate because it's my favorite game too, and in every computer I've installed it in, there's something different. First time I installed it, it was extremely slow, even without cc and mods, the second time, it ran better but it had this weird glitch where sims were stretched out, then I had the empty rooms glitch where from some angles all the furniture disappeared; then I had an awesome install with no glitches but it couldn't support any cc besides low poly clothing, and my most recent install runs very smoothly and it can handle a great amount of cc and mods, but it crashed very often, especially in community lots :(. We can't have it all, I guess lol
This is super late, but have you tried the 4gb patch? That was an absolute lifesaver for me. I hope you have found a way to run it smoothly in the meantime!

Idk if it has anything to do with it, but have most mods that you've recommended, windows 10 (i did also prefer 7 though), and I've never had the pink flashing in my game and it's never crashed until I added the Sims 2 story progression mod (but it is in beta, so I understand that.) My computer is only about 3 years old. Surprisingly it does run very well not much lag, if any. I have all of the disks though so idk if that makes a difference?
I've seen glitches in the Sims 2 before, but NEVER the "pink" glitch.

usually when i want to save the neighborhood i saved then go to the neighborhood and come back. most of the time when i save it doesn't save

The 4 gb patch didn’t work for me nor did graphic rules.... a fellow simmer made a custom graphic rules for me because neither would read my ram at all and i had the black square shadows. I have a 64 bit laptop with 8 gigs of RAM. Before the custom graphic rules my game only recognized 2 gb of my RAM
Might be to late but instead of delating your thumbnail cache, which is a pain, you can shift + right click on the thumbnails and they update :p, that way you don’t have to gen all of the thumbnails again.
I find it easier to delete the cache than do it manually! Lol. But I will sometimes do it manually if I'm already in the game. :)

It must be due mods cause I play the SIms 2 without mods on my Windows 10 and I don't have any problems at all
