I tried this recipe for Divali! I used a little more butter and less sugar to coat (i'm diabetic) and these were little bites of heaven! crunchy on the outside soft and buttery on the inside! I love your take on kurma Ria! Highly recommend anyone to dare to try this!

Though my husband is not indian, he IS Caribbean and introduced these to me as mithai... I love them so much! Thank you so much for this recipe! Yours is the ONLY Caribbean channel I trust to make things for him.

CookingWithRiaOh you’re most welcome! And I am serious... your humility and down to earth style is beautiful. For example, when you realized your dough wasn’t looking right, you knew you needed to call your MIL to troubleshoot! Further, in discussing the little broken brown pieces at the end of the video,it felt like a little pep talk in case we falter in some way. This separates your channel from other channels (in my opinion). Your troubleshooting tips are helpful because I don’t have “instincts” with Caribbean recipes (yet😉!), and your instructions are a perfect guide for beginners to these types of dishes. And you are consistent in this.. I’ve made your parathas and bakes and they were phenomenal in taste and texture! (I am not too far from queens, so I have access to some good stuff!). May God Almighty bless you and your family!

Very timely! 😊 Have been thinking for two weeks now, to make mithai! Thanks for the wonderful recipies Ria! I am an "empty nester" so not many people to cook for everyday. I am Guyanese, and my husband American, and I have taken a renewed interest in cooking foods I know from my childhood, and you have helped tremendously!! Many thanks!
My husband is an "addict" for Indian food, and I happiest when I'm feeding someone! My neighbors now has reasons to "drop by" ☺️, and I am quite happy to feed them all too lol.

GM! I am going to try this recipe. Did one before but it was soft. I have been looking for a more detail explanation on why. I believe this method as you said had to call on mom or elders guidance. Put in frig for a while to allow to come together. Also keep stirring the sugar syrup until it dries. Again thanks.

I love when u said don't aim for perfection but tummy satisfaction so so true. You really know what u are doing. I somehow likes the hard Kumar once the flavour is their all commercial packs satisfies that no matter the texture. I am encouraged to try this recipe this Divali because I know u know what u are doing. Thanks so much. Also if its not too much can you please do a channa and aloo recipe just like prayers food. Thank so much. God bless u

Alli H Thanks so much! 😀
If you have a very large mixer it should work -or you can half the recipe. Keep in mind that 2.5 lbs of flour makes a large batch!

This is a recipe brought by our ancestors from India in the 1980s during the period of indentureship. In the Caribbean we call it Khurma and it is sweet. You speak of Korma. Korma is a curry dish ……totally different to Khurma
