This video is spot on! I too use this same style of setup. The biggest bonus is I can spool up with braid once a year and use little bits of expensive flouro for leaders… super cost effective!
i flip braid with a flouro leader as well. i feel i get more sensitivity and i have more control over my bait because of the braid!! keep it up hunter, regards from south africa💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
The Greg Hackney hook set! Brutal! I also agree on the longer rod but I lose fewer fish with a more parabolic bend. Amazing how a bass can throw a 1/2 oz jig with a stiff rod.
She’s a beaut Clark! I flip braid to flouro too! With the MH action rod having braid pretty much gives you the Heavy action! My flipping rod and my flipping jig rod are both only 7ft. I like the shorter profile for being after to skip docks and around lay downs. Little easier to roll cast! I keep a 7’6” heavy for dragging the ball and chain. And a 7’4” for bigger jigs. Great content! Been watching your brother on the MLF for a while now and happened on your stuff and I enjoy it! Love the 24/7 series! Keep me coming!
Just about everyone i know in virginia and my uncle showed me and hes been using braid to fluoro leader and i do to on alot more than just flipping and i know hes been doing it for years i honestly thought most people already did especially in my area they do not like braid especially in clear water but when i changed to fluoro leader a lightbulb went off cause i went from not catching anything to everything and with the albright knot 30 or 40lb braid to 12, 15, or 17 fluoro on the leader and it is a strong knot i use the same setup on my chatterbait and the difference is night and day from straight braid or straight fluoro and i use a 7' 3" medium heavy fast and im 5' 7" i definitely like the longer rod and i use a 1/4 oz tungsten pegged and i use a 4/0 hook and ive been using that setup for 2 years now and i love it
I’m 5’8 and will only flip and pitch with a 7’6” rod for flouro and a 7’4” with braid unless I’m punching then I’ll use a 7’6”-7’10” rod. I like to have one all flouro and another all braid but haven’t tried braid to leader for flippin and pitchin. Going to rig one up and see how it goes. I just like the all flouro bc it transmits vibrations more on a slack line than braid does.
Hunter Shryock Fishing agreed, I don’t buy into that “taller guy = longer rod theory” I like having as long of a rod that’s comfortable for each technique.
I agree thanks for backing up what I do I call it lite flipping 50 lb braid to 15 lb seige smoke mono in mich but I'll try 20# floro same knot or since to since knot
Really digging your set-up. I’m 5’6 as well but I’m fishing my set-up slightly different and cheaper than yours. 7’6 heavy power moderate fast action abu Garcia vengeance rod, abu Garcia pro max 3 reel, power max 50 lb braid and sometimes I tend to tip it with 17lb Berkeley trilene big game.. flipping, pitching, top water baits with trebbles, frogs and all
Thanks for the info. I am very similar in height and use a very similar setup. I just started using braid to floro. It is much easier to tie 20# floro to braid than 6# to braid on the spinning setup. Thanks keep up the great info.
Great stuff Hunter........ My home lake has deep pads(8'), rock, and wood and I find myself needing 2-3 flipping sticks rigged so I have braid and flouro both available.... I've held off on the the braid to flouro leader due to concerns with the knot.... Do you ever have failures there.......... ???I'm using this system on all my spinning rods.... and love it..... but just a little more force with the "big stick"...lol....Also, since you are using this system do you find the MH power allows the rod to absorb more of the shock to prevent failures....??? Gonna give this a try...... would make life much more simple.... Thanks for sharing...!!!!
I also do the same, doesn't matter to me that most UA-camrs don't. Good to hear a pro saying he does also. Nice vid. lmao I also use an Alberto I just heard it!
What’s up Fletch, your neighbor from the Burgh. E- mailed you months ago to see if Larry the legend could autograph a few shirts for me if I put in an order? Come fish Pittsburgh after the crazy Corona ends. Love the vids and coverage. Keep it up.
Thanks John!! I just like the AL-F that much personally. A lot of our Abu Garcia pros use the rocket though so it's really comes down to your personal preference.
Just wondering what knot you use to join your braid to your flourocarbon? Go Ohio - go Rocks!!!! Yes, I'm from Barnesville. Not too far from your hometown - Love Tappan!!!! New sub also!!!
...i said it on Instagram and ill say it here. You do have a crazy hookset, its like Mike Tysons punch. All fun and games till the bell rings, then its BOOM hooked
Man I’m glad u done this video! I honestly have always throught abu’s medium heavy is to stiff to me! But now u explain the set up and hook sets, makes perfect sense! The offer still stands on going to O’Brien lake in fairplains, I went today caught a 4 lber, they starting to pull shallow! I know I’ve told ya but there’s giants n there! I’m working on my Video of my channel there if u want to check it out!!
Hunter I live in Caldwell very close to saltfork lake I’m getting laid off work do too this virus I’ll be off all next week if you like to get together and do some bass fishing let me know there’s wolf run and senica also.As always great video tight lines
Sorry to hear that Matt. Unfortunately with all this covid and social distancing stuff going on I don't think it would be a good idea to be fishing together but you know ill be at the lake a lot! Hopefully this stuff gets cleared up soon!
Hunter Shryock Fishing I was going to bring my boat and fish out of my boat while you fish out of yours and just see what we catch let me know here’s my cell 1-740-525-7199
You can but that’s not replacing what the Flurocarbon is doing. The Flurocarbon is much more abrasion resistant than braid when it comes to rubbing against rock and wood.👍🏼
IMO your hookset is the way it should be done. It's the way I do it as well. Seeing people drop the rod then about fall over backwards on the set is just ridiculous IMO.

Great to hear!! I feel exactly the same way, no more lost contact with the bait!
The mh rod is essential when using the braid to floro. Good stuff hopefully you’ll be fishin soon.
Absolutely! I hope so too!!
Ive been using braid to leader flippin for a couple years now. I love it!
The Greg Hackney hook set! Brutal! I also agree on the longer rod but I lose fewer fish with a more parabolic bend. Amazing how a bass can throw a 1/2 oz jig with a stiff rod.

Thanks Hunter: Great information about how to setup a flipping and pitching combo. Keep providing your videos. We need them! 👍👍👍
Thanks Larry! We're trying to get as many as possible done while we have this down time!
Hunter Shryock Fishing : I look forward to each and every one of them. Thanks again.

Nice! Again, its all personal preference and how YOU can get the fish to bite and in the boat consistently. Thanks for the info!!!

I like the vengeance series- good choice!!

No doubt on the knot! It's a lot more manageable than the smaller lines lol- thanks man!!!

It's all a preference thing. It's whatever you can put the most fish in the boat with that matters, right! Thanks man!
Can u do video on your millfoil/grass flippin set up? Your set up from cayuga last year? Thanks! Awesome video.
Awesome video Hunter! Love it man!
Thank you Jared!!
Great advice Hunter. I challenge you to competition on Mosquito Lake! Let’s go!!!
Thanks man! I tell you what, l have never been to Mosquito yet LOL but plan on going if this covid is still going on!
Great Video man. Keep up the hard work!

Can't complain about that! It's been some crazy up and down weather this whole month!
great video love seeing what the pros use
Glad you enjoyed it!

You using the same setup also for fishing with the jig? Or only Texas rig? Thanks bro
Great info..! Always great videos.. Thanks.!
I appreciate it dude!
Let’s go! This was awesome thank you!
Glad it was helpful in some way!!!
Hey Hunter, Great Video!! I have a question though, why don’t you use the Revo Rocket as your Flippin reel?
Thanks John!! I just like the AL-F that much personally. A lot of our Abu Garcia pros use the rocket though so it's really comes down to your personal preference.
Hunter Shryock Fishing OK cool I was just curious. Thanks for the Feedback!!
Awesome video! Thanks!
You got it! Thanks for watching!
Have you ever tried the FG knot over the Crazy Alberto knot?
Now fishing on a windy day you would still go straight floro right as it not picked up by the wind as easily and has better sensitivity in the wind?
I still stick with this setup. Boat positioning and angle matter a lot with the wind but I manage it fine.
Just wondering what knot you use to join your braid to your flourocarbon? Go Ohio - go Rocks!!!! Yes, I'm from Barnesville. Not too far from your hometown - Love Tappan!!!! New sub also!!!

Hahaha! All about that reaction time LOL Thanks man!

Awesome!! As long as this covid is still going on I won't be traveling anywhere too far. Hopefully its over soon!
Hunter Shryock Fishing I gotcha! I also seen a jig on that rod, I often wondered y I haven’t seen a jig on ur rod more often?
Thanks for the info! Cool channel, and I just subscribed.

What's your favorite Beaver style bait?
The berkley bunker hawg or the maxscent creature hawg!!
Did use this set up in winyah bay?
Can you make more setup videos?
I’m new to this had to follow. From coshocton. Still waiting on friends on Instagram and Facebook
Hey man I'm going to Attwood on Friday any tips on fishing there????
They'll be shallow!!
@@HunterShryockFishing thanks 😀
You can just darken the a foot or two of the braid with a black sharpie
You can but that’s not replacing what the Flurocarbon is doing. The Flurocarbon is much more abrasion resistant than braid when it comes to rubbing against rock and wood.👍🏼
That sexy sax though... very #LarryLegendesque 🎷
