I went to Orchard Primary School which was very close to this estate and a great deal of my school friends lived on this estate. I’m still friends with a few of them and I left Orchard Primary School in 83 great school but some great time on the estate back in the 80’s, I also went to a few parties held in the TA clubhouse and don’t recall much but at the time there were kids toys on springs, I was a large person back then and I sat on one side of the toy and a smaller person got on, when I got off my friend went flying, it was video recorded on a camcorders and it showed my friend flying through the air and we had a great explanation by another explaining how I got off and him flying. The grainy footage is still about lol
My heart broke for the Mother who has the son with disabilities, because he is so sweet and innocent, and you could see the fear and sadness of the possibility of her not being there to protect him from this cruel world. Actual tears from me 😢😢😢
Just watched all the episodes, so nice to see how simple life was back then but so complicated when it came to the very basic requirements needed to live the life…
Silly idea of putting a giant sand pit there. People were chucking their rubbish out of the windows. I am sure every cat and dog in a 1/2 mile radius used it as a giant litter tray!
That case worker dealing with Franchea and Simon was utterly clueless. How could she not have known that Simon was far too higher functioning for that day centre she recommended? That was offensive sending him there, it's like she was saying, "You're one of them. You should fit right in." Then she tells him he should move away from his family, because "that's what people do at your age." I shudder to think how many more useless dolts like her in the system make vulnerable people's lives more difficult than they need to be.
I’d love to know were thy are tday 🤷🏻♀️ I know most probably the much elderly one have passed away 😢😞 it’s so upsetting how some people have to live 🤦🏻♀️😬
@dinagreaves6686 They say people don’t help themselves, that they are lazy, that there are things they could do to better themselves. I’ve never seen anyone in this program sit back!! They fought hard on trying to do things for the kids, the asbestos situation, the cockroach infestations, the broken lifts etc. what more could they do? It’s very sad. I didn’t have much growing up but managed to make my way but I give back to the very community that gave me a safe all be it poor upbringing. I will never forget having gym shoes with holes that let the rain in. They weren’t for gym, they were all I had. I commend these people and am full of respect for them.
All that fuss and bother over a pirate radio station .......Not permitted to enjoy yourself or be motivated to do anything in Britain unless you're on the hamster wheel generating income for the state.
No it was knocked down years ago, and replaced with houses. I used to play on this estate as a kid in the eighties, it was great fun. All those raised walkways and bridges were amazing for roller skating
She shouldn't have had to live in those conditions. Nobody should, but how did she expect to move when she owed over £6.000 in rent? Who would house her?
London in the 90s was a London that hadn't changed much for decades. The list of things now gone is a long one. The main one is that the people were different to the people today and there were communities. It was an unpredictable and interesting place. London is just an expensive city of wannabees, feminists, PC types, and dole-scroungers not UK born now. Interesting people don't go to live in London anymore. I used to pay £30 a week for a room in 1995. Now you spend that on a Chinese take-away. Unless you have enough money to live in a bubble, the UK is not a nice place to live now. London doesn't have a character anymore. I spend £250 rent and bills a month now and can save living in another country. Britain is just a scam run by the rich and those with power.

And the Council had the front to charge people to live there. At a glance no more than a prison without an obvious fence.
I really hope things got better for that strong mother and her sons 🙏🏾
Yes indeed.
I hope things got better
For all these Noble
People in the series. ❤

Without the help of others were all doomed. 2024 sep.
I’m also aware of the asbestos, I like the way the police don’t take that into consideration when pulling out old panels
23:20 I would love an update with the lady Franchea Layne and her three sons.
The old cat singing tried to join X posse. X overlord was having none of it!!
