Probably non of them exist anymore. My grandparents worked for British Belting and Asbestos and that doesn’t. Has only still been listen in recent decades to pay out pensions.
I'm watching this in October 2024 and my heart goes out to everyone who lost their lives and their families. The program was so well presented and the reporter did his job so well. Alice seemed like an amazing woman who loved her family, when she spoke about her children and husband it must have been devastating for them all. The sadest part was when she spoke about her son ,I think it was at 47 minutes, how all he wanted was for her to be alive. These big companies have so much to answer for and unfortunately even today they get away with so much. God rest everyone in the video. 😢❤
This is so shocking the companies have murdered people and got away with it as usual /there must still be thousands of buildings etc that contain this deadly stuff /horrific x
i remember we stayed in a holiday cottage that weas filled with this stuff ,terrible how much people suffer with building materials they should have known was going to cause damage yrs later x
Plenty of houses and buildings built in the 1950s-70s are cock full of asbestos. It's not harmful if undisturbed-but once it's damaged or broken apart, that's when the dangerous stuff is released
It was the production that caused issues. Just like the production of textiles can give you lung conditions. Tragedies like Grenfell wouldn’t have happened if they’d not removed the asbestos panels.
@@tree1568grenfell happened because of crap quality cladding and crap safety measures in the building. Asbestos is dangerous and leaving it was untenable indefinitely because like all materials it deteriorates over time and cannot be safely managed, and producing more of it certainly is not acceptable. Even concrete lampposts were all partly eliminated and taken out partly due to those posts containing asbestos in their cement. Many councils across the country have reduced them at scale and rapidly. Just an example that ultimately the material is not something you can manage indefinitely or safely.
@@tree1568soon as people hear the word asbestos they see a big red flag but as a product it has great properties such as fire resistance as you mention
John and his five brothers all developed asbestos related disease and died from it. He was captured by the Japanese in Singapore and after being held in Changi Prison, went on the death railway in Burma. Campaigning until his last.
In the UK anything before 2000 is possible. 1990s less likely but could be in lower risk cement products such as garage roof or in textured coatings to walls/ceilings
£200.00 MY GOD THATS A DISCUSTING INSULT TO OFFER THAT LADY £200 FOR HER HUSBAND LIFE, 🤬🤬. AND NOT TO MENTION THAY GAVE THE LADY IN AMERICA FOR HER HUSBAND DIEING OF CANCER CONECTED TO THE COMPANY 1 MILLION DOLLAS😳😱 WHAT A DISCUSTING INSULT......
Absolutely disgusting! These arrogant companies deserve to go under. They've murdered these poor people! 😡😡😡

Shocking, there is no other word for how these companies acted.
Thanks for the upload.
John Willis, proper journalist. Unlike the current ones. Rip Alice.
Agreed. My grandad had a stroke shortly after being interviewed here and the crew sent my grandma flowers etc.
This is so sad, those poor people and their families.

Any building prior to 1999 legally can contain it in the Uk
Wow. That is so bad. Absolutely awful.@@Matty12333
Companies are not to blame but the people who run them.

13:38 John Todd. A great man who I had the privilege of knowing and working with.
John and his five brothers all developed asbestos related disease and died from it. He was captured by the Japanese in Singapore and after being held in Changi Prison, went on the death railway in Burma. Campaigning until his last.
RIP John Todd and fam
Because these corporations carried on regardless dodging, being questioned, keeping their purse strings tight.
IT IS WILFULL MURDER.
Omg this is so sad for the victims
Our school huts had it in the roofs primary school in early 80s
How likely would a house built in the 1990s contain asbestos?

Possible. Just paint it and leave it alone and you won’t have a problem. Or call a removal company.
I wonder what chemicals in 2024 will turn out to be bad in future?
What's in vapes no doubt
