Actually the rotator did do something....please don't take this the wrong way.....it conveyed me, my employee, and our tools/rigging to/from the scene. It sat in the lane of traffic, in harm's way, while we worked. It provided the traffic control devices that the ladies needed who were attempting to work traffic before we arrived. It cost us fuel and INSURANCE among many other things. So, even though I may not have used the winches or the boom, the truck was still used and is chargeable. Try to view it as an entire "service package". We provide the KNOWLEDGE as well as the truck and all the equipment that it carries. We were paid and the farmer was pleased with our services and our pricing, so it all worked out. Thanks for watching and God bless.

@@RonPratt The knowledge you have in this industry is worth more than the equipment you have. The equipment is tools for you to fix the wide variety of problems you face with each job based on your knowledge. In this case, you had additional tools to aid in caring out the fix to this problem. Glad that you were paid and everyone was pleased.

@@RonPratt Absolutely correct Ron, also you had the big tools with you should they be needed to assist with rolling the tractor over. Clearly until you arrive it's hard to determine the exact situation. While the farmer and his team probably "could" have rolled it over themselves, having someone onsite who has the experience you do to offer the guidance and advice (which it was up to them to follow or not) is worth the call out costs. Thoroughly enjoy your vids, partly as no one here in Norway uses rotators, if they need more lifting than a normal wrecker can provide, they call in a mobile crane to help. There simply wouldn't be enough work to justify the costs here.

At the very least, by being on this job, the 'tator was unavailable for other jobs, so even the absolute minimum charge for a "rotator job" is justified. But there's also the points Ron himself makes.

Farmers are pretty knowledgeable, self sufficient guys, you have to be..... but it does seem they all did look to Ron and listen, to me it seemed like Ron was the only "cook" they all helped and did what they were told more or less, even the farmer after he calmed down a bit. I'm actually surprised they called a tow truck for that, but ALSO, I've watched my neighbor ranchers just TOTAL equipment by PULLING, TWISTING, JERKING, YANKING, ETC. ETC. when they could have saved the stuck eqipment AND spared the other equipment they were putting harm too. MORE THAN ANYTHING, having an experienced rigger equals more safety. (I'm a heavy equipment rigger, move machines all over the world.... VERY dangerous work, and I am a PRICK to be around because I am the ONLY word, BEGINNING and END. (I can listen..... don't mind ideas, and help..... but then everybody does what I decide.) I am ALSO, able to be quiet and stand back, but at that point, I've given FULL DISCLOSURE, that I am "no longer" responsible for their 1 million machine... THEY ARE. (Usually then they yield.... most of the time I am working through translators with as many as 30 men around, most of them with "no shoes" because in most countries they only wear flip flops. The machinery that is moved, they also sleep on it, under it, and on top of it between Monday thorugh Friday before they can find a ride home to see the family... which might only be 20 minutes away, but that is 1 Hell of a walk HOME, and back to work the next morning. We Americans are very spoiled.

    Hey guys.
I really appreciate your professional attitude.
Having done miles of fences, I would ask that if you ever need to cut a fence again, please leave enough "tail" on the loose end to wrap around the post when they need to repair the cutting.
Usually on a tension fence we would need to go back to the previous post if there's not enough to secure the cut end.
Otherwise you are a great professional.

I think this can teach a lesson to everyone about farm safety. I imagine that this guy pulled over to let someone in the other lane go, but in doing so, the other driver did not give him any room and therefore he had to pull over so much that he rolled his sprayer. People, farm equipment is heavy and awkward to transport on the road, we know that, but if we go past the safety margins of our machines, very similar things can happen to this. This guy was real lucky in this video. I have almost rolled a combine doing the exact same thing because someone did not give me any room. People, if you see farm equipment coming, move over to the shoulder or even pull off in an intersection. And if you get behind a piece of farm equipment, be patient. People passing farm equipment amounts to almost 35% of farm related deaths per year (not exact) and a lot of times we do not know you are passing. The moral of the story is: (and I know this is more of an emergency services saying but it still works) slow down and move over for farm equipment and do not pass farm equipment unless if they stop and let you.

It was NOT 1000 gallons of round-up. IF the herbicide was round-up (glyphosate), I didn’t hear the type, its a very small percentage of the actual liquid in the tank. For example, somewhere around 25 gallons of chemical, to 975 gallons of water.... so saying it was 1000 gallons of roundup is incorrect...

Not a life though. Thank you once again.

Hey Ron, I like your way of dealing with customers.
    You got a great attitude.
You calmed him down an d gave him his time to get out of the shock moment and back into normal mode.
Love the moment where you say: "Let's start fresh, I'm Ron"
If I ever need a tow truck with my truck, I hope I'll be near your and that my boss will send you guys out.
You know how to turn up things (not only machines, also smiles)
God bless you and your team and family

As a first responder, The look of that damage in that cab, the farmer is lucky that he did not get crushed in there. I am glad you guys brainstorm ideas about safe ways of getting your vehicles out of recovery. I love how you keep calm during difficult customers. We do the same in EMS. We deal with far worse than what you went through. Some people get overly worked up for nothing. It was God's blessing that guy made it out without a scratch.

Just like everyday I go in to work for taxpayers you have to deal with people read them how to talk to them. Working on the road is tuff and you add the tempers and what they think you should do is hard and then the job it self is hard. I feel you Ron the pain of holding back and just to walk off. You are a good people person and that makes a difference. Be safe on the road.

That, Ron, was a masterclass in customer service! Sure, the farmer was a bit 'cheesed off' with the situation, but you 'kept it together', let him 'say his piece', go and collect his thoughts and, ultimately, work with you to sort the problem. I take your point that the Tator served a purpose insofar it was a mobile toolbox/equipment carrier and personnel carrier. Many of the Fruits of the Spirit were at the fore with this job. I applaud you! God bless.

By the nature of their design, these machines are top heavy, and on a small wheel/tire footprint. The 1,000 gallons of material sits very high, when compared to the width. They are not nearly as stable as a farm tractor (like the one being used to pull the rig over).

So the guy who rolled his sprayer in a ditch, wants you to drive your $750,000 truck into a field. So many people are willing for others to risk their lively hood, to get themselves out of a jam, at no risk to themselves while telling you how to do your job. In moments of stress a persons true character can be revealed. You handled that situation beautiful, professionally and compassionately.

    Farms worst nightmare!!
$150k-$250k sprayer full of product and messed up!!
Things that prove just how good your insurance company is!
One little bit of advice though.
As a farmer and retired volunteer firefighter, I've seen a lot of things done to facilitate a job such as this... If you have to cut a fence, leave a foot or so past the post, wrap it around the post to keep it there. That foot past the post makes it much easier to repair when you are done.
Just the way I was raised and taught, do the least damage and leave it as easy as possible to repair. Doesn't matter what it is.
Odds are, someone will have to repair it..
Good job! Always challenging working with people you don't normally work with, but went pretty smoothly!
Love the part about the JD guy saying it was a total loss before it was on it's wheels... LOL, wasn't hard to tell that, it's just a parts machine now!
